They arrived on time with 3 lions (2 large and 1 small). They asked us to provide a head cabbage with money inside the lai see (good luck) red envelope and hold it up at the front stage. The performers did a great job working the crowd and they included adult as well as youth lion dancers. During the performance the lion would dance around the guests collecting good luck money from them and eventually made its way to the front of the stage where it devoured the head cabbage and lai see envelope. In gratification, good fortune and blessings it spit out the cabbage. It was a great way to celebrate both occasions by spreading good luck while chasing away the evil spirit. For those of you interested in learning the martial arts, the great thing about Siu Lum Pai that sets it apart from other Kung Fu schools is the size of the school. It has four branches on O'ahu (Kalihi, Kapahulu, Waipahu and Kaneohe). The Main Branch offers classes 7 days a week and has classes both in the mornings and evenings. Unlike other martial arts clubs on the island it is a FULL-TIME school. Classes are available for children and adults. Ages of students range from 5 years to 80 years. Instruction has a focus on the learning of traditional forms/sets including hand sets, weapon sets and sparring (both hand and weapon) sets. Weapons curriculum include the Chinese broadsword (dao), staff, spear, Kwan Dao, tiger fork, butterfly knives, double-edged sword (gim), chain whips and three sectional staff. Self-defense techniques are extrapolated and learned through the application of movements in the traditional forms. With over 30 hand, weapon and sparring forms to learn you can easily spend several years learning the basics of the system and many years thereafter mastering it. For those of you looking for a Lion Dance for your special occasion, the Siu Lum Pai lion dance and demo team is available to help you celebrate your special occasion. Dance rates are comparable to other lion dance troupes and the team will work to ensure your special occasion gives off without a hitch! The manager at the time, did my Intro class and I was very impressed and interested to learn more about energy meditation and how to relieve my insomnia. I joined for 3 months and took class 5x/week. After one month, I got rid of my insomnia and then after one year, I quit smoking. I was really impressed with the sincerity and patience of the instructors. I felt relaxing and more happy after each class. I highly recommend trying a class if you want to destress and get healthier.

Which I was super busy on. They then came with PINK lions when the celebrant is a boy. If they were unsure of gender, I wish they came with any other color but pink or blue. Maybe red, black, gold, etc. It was one of those turn outs that you look back on & tell yourself "if only", the certain parts of the party that could have been better if only. That said, if you are looking to train in contemporary/traditional external wushu or internal wushu (taiji quan, bagua Zhang, and qigong) on Oahu, this is a good place to do it! The Wushu Center's team of volunteers do their best to provide a wushu training atmosphere full of aloha spirit. We offer quality wushu instruction to all skill levels, with after school programs suitable for children 5 and up. Contemporary competitive wushu is the biggest draw for the younger students, as it is often featured in the movies and TV (Jet Li, Kung Fu Panda, Avatar: the Last Airbender, Jackie Chan) and it is a fun and challenging way to get and stay in shape, make friends, and participate in an internationally competitive sport with surging popularity and modern appeal. Many older youths and adults also enjoy the "internal" wushu classes in Taiji Quan and Bagua Zhang (eight-trigram Palm), which offer excellent holistic wellness and fitness routines while also teaching and building useful and effective self defense skills.
