One of the things I enjoyed in Thailand was yoga. It's a great way to workout and stay fit. One of my friends told me about a yoga place she goes to in Aiea recently. I wasn't 100% sure where Aiea was but I told her that I would check it out. Body & Brain Aiea is very easy to find and it's not too far from Honolulu. There is lots of parking there and stalls are wide. They are upstairs above Curves and a food/beverage shop in Aiea Town Square. When you enter, you will notice that it's very bright and welcoming. The receptionist area is very organized and the staff is very friendly. Training/Workout area is very spacious. You really feel the positive energy from everyone. One feels very comfortable and at ease here. It's rather relaxing and I like how clean they keep the facility. If you live in the area or not, check them out.

I would highly recommend Corey to anyone who is struggling with any sort of health issue. I'm so tired of taking western medication without results. Corey produces great results. He truly is an incredible acupuncturist with a heart of gold!

I admit it, I was a complete skeptic and believed that acupuncture was more psychosomatic, Chinese…read morevoodoo, than real medicine. That was until I injured my C-7 from years of surfing and bad posture. X-rays and MRI revealed a narrowing and pinched nerve at the base of my neck and as a result I was experiencing significant pain, numbness, weakness, and tingling running past my shoulder blade, down the back of my arm, all the way to my index finger. So much so that I could not sleep due to the constant pain. My first plan of attack was traditional Western medicine, but that didn't help and the prescribed PT actually made things worst! A strange thing happens when you are in constant pain and have exhausted all options, you get desperate and are willing to trying anything for relief. Fortunately for me, a very respected doctor friend of my recommended that I see Cory since he helped him and different members of his family with various ailments and injuries. After my very first treatment the reduction in pain was significant, near miraculous, and now I am a believer! The needles are so thin you almost can't feel them, the mild electrical pluses that Cory uses to stimulate and bring healing chi/blood into injured areas, the surround sound and vibrations of healing music, the use of heat lamps, and the 30-minute Chinese healing massage to cap off each treatment is in a word OUTSTANDING. All this for less than $1 a minute, only $70 for a 1.5-hour session! I have paid much more for far less at the new, trendy places. Cory is the real deal, a local boy who was trained in China, decades of experience, very knowledgeable, passionate, and most important genuinely caring. He spends unrushed, quality time diagnosing your issue, explaining what he going to do before he does it, and gives you stretches and exercises to heal the issue at the source. Although I no longer need treatment, I still go just to nurture myself. TIPS: * Come with an open mind, this approach is VERY different from western medicine. It's much warmer, slower paced, sensory and wholistic. Here you are a person, not an ailment. Don't judge the approach, judge the results. * Don't come expecting a bright, white, yuppy spa; Cory's studio is humble, rustic, with warm, darker lighting. * Look for the older, grey colored, low rise 4-story apartment building near the corner of Wilder Ave and Keeaumoku Street. While headed up Keeaumoku, just past Wilder Ave, it's the second building on Diamond Head side of the street. A stone's throw from Makiki Park & Library, if your throwing toward the mountains. * Free parking is on the ground level, under the building. You can park in stalls #9 or #10, the last two stalls on the left. Take the stairs to the second floor and when you're on the second floor, look for the one light that's on right next to the door of his studio - room 205. * Appointment ONLY - Call (808) 220-0934 or email asianhorizonsllc@gmail.com

It is actually up a set up stairs directly on top of the cross fit gym, and jiu jitsu gym. Parking is tight here people usually park across the street behind a chain link fence. Street parking is also available on the whole side of the roads. I wouldn't risk it parking in a designated business spot in their tiny parking lot. That aside.... We Decided to visit this place through meetups app while on vacation for a breath workshop with Hunter. I had been looking a month ago at things I would love to do while out if our normal area, for classes and workshops to add to my training. I was glad I found this one! Once in, and talking to the instructor He said they're trying new classes out, and currently his is donation based, (but I'm sure it could change in the future), and to bring your own mat/ blanket etc for a rejuvenating intro to breath on weds at 6pm for 45 minutes. I am Yoga Nidra certifies, and this very much so reminded me of that with breath work. However, we were consciously awake and checked up on constantly through the practice. An awesome experience for those that need to tune in to themselves and out of the world. Great for people visiting the island looking to relax on a deeper level, and for locals who need to get back in touch with their innermost. Strongly suggest! I like that this studios energy seems very balanced, safe, and comfortable. It's very chill and welcoming, as was Hunter. Thanks for the lovely experience, and for hosting such awesome events for people on meetup app! Hope to visit next time I'm in the area :0)

Workshops such as "Heal Your Back & Neck Pain", "Building Better Balance" have provided me with tools for life. My back and neck are the most comfortable they have been in years. I started with Tai Chi and discovered so much else to learn. In addition to Chi Kung, I'm enjoying kettlebell and a variety of strength training. My flexibility has tremendously improved, too. At times, it's been challenging, but I enjoy learning new things and feeling well. The quality of teaching is very high here. Bruno is very patient, humble, and knowledgable beyond his years. He is an exceptional teacher and the reason for my first yelp review. I've learned more from him in one year than the 20 years I invested in gym memberships. This is not an exaggeration. Other students have told me that Catherine is an excellent teacher, as well. If you enjoy learning new things and enjoy feeling well, give San Bao Center a try.

That said, if you are looking to train in contemporary/traditional external wushu or internal wushu (taiji quan, bagua Zhang, and qigong) on Oahu, this is a good place to do it! The Wushu Center's team of volunteers do their best to provide a wushu training atmosphere full of aloha spirit. We offer quality wushu instruction to all skill levels, with after school programs suitable for children 5 and up. Contemporary competitive wushu is the biggest draw for the younger students, as it is often featured in the movies and TV (Jet Li, Kung Fu Panda, Avatar: the Last Airbender, Jackie Chan) and it is a fun and challenging way to get and stay in shape, make friends, and participate in an internationally competitive sport with surging popularity and modern appeal. Many older youths and adults also enjoy the "internal" wushu classes in Taiji Quan and Bagua Zhang (eight-trigram Palm), which offer excellent holistic wellness and fitness routines while also teaching and building useful and effective self defense skills. The Hawaii Wushu Center is also one of the few places in the US that you can find authentic Yin Family Bagua Zhang, which is pretty special, if you look into it. ;) Ok, I'll wrap this shameless plug up now with another welcome: Aloha E Komo Mai: come join our Wushu Ohana!
