Everyone was extremely welcoming. The level of Jiu-jitsu was very high and although everyone was going after it, there was no one trying to hurt anyone or any big egos. I'm very thankful, I was allowed to experience this wonderful academy and hope to roll with these guys again the next time I'm on Oahu.

I joined about two years ago for kickboxing (PJ, Chris, and Justin are incredible), but really appreciated that the membership allows you to divide up your classes however you like. I ended up taking up jiu jitsu and recently started kali escrima with Ian - my only regret is that I didn't start sooner. Marital arts is such a humbling experience, and walking into a new gym can be so intimidating. O2 is perfect for every experience level from the individual who has only seen action movies to the high level grappler and those who spar regularly. As a whole, they call it the O2 fam and it truly feels like it! The gym is actually owned by Mike and Chris, two brothers, who truly give it a family feel. They, and all the coaches, are amazing at what they do and lead their classes with expertise and a lot of humor. And as another reviewer mentioned, this is definitely somewhere where you have to check your ego at the door because it's a fam and we have to take care of each other. O2 is on the second floor above Goodwill along Kamehameha. There's plenty of parking and the lot entrance is on Hekaha. During the pandemic they kept the gym open and prioritized membership safety with online classes then grappling with dummies and working in pods. They offer times throughout the day and on weekends. The schedule is a little modified because of COVID but definitely check them out!

Coach Jason, Coach Paul, and Coach Taylor have been outstanding with our three younger sons in the Juniors class. They've shown genuine patience, guidance, and consistency that's made a big difference in our kids' confidence and skill. Over the summer, my partner and I started attending the adult Gi and No-Gi classes, and it's been just as rewarding. Having taken Jiu-Jitsu classes at UFC Gym before, I can honestly say Coach Jason's teaching style stands out -- he breaks down the techniques in a way that just clicks and makes sense. If you're looking for a place to really learn Jiu-Jitsu in a supportive, family-like environment, Calabrese Combat Academy is where you want to be.

He gives you two free classes! What is there to lose give the Calabrese academy a try!

Pros: It's spacious, everybody is serious at this gym (no chit chatting/on their phone just sitting at the machine), parking is always readily available, they have a WOMEN'S SECTION (this is a huge plus for me!! Ladies, you'll love this section! No boys allowed!), lots of machines and free weights, music is always bumpin' with good music, lots of disinfecting stations. Although they are not opened 24 hours right now due to COVID, this place is great and I don't have to wait for any machines or weights. I can't wait till the classes open up so I could try it, too. Cons: They need to clean...and I mean clean the dusts on the walls and floors. This is minor and could be resolved quickly but it makes me wonder how often they clean when I see the same dust piles week after week in the same area. The women's restroom smells ALL the time. Not sure if there's a plumbing issue but I gag every time I go into the locker room. There's no WIFI... I was surprised they had no WIFI. Otherwise, great gym!

Its not a "family" gym at all. They play favorites. Machines are taken up by the large group trainings they have everyday. Machines are always broken. Big crowds at night that you cant even find a working machine. A/C is always broken. Large gym bags are everywhere. Men are always in the women section. Staff turn around rate is extremely high because staff is treated like disposable trash. The group trainings are formed in cliques and women who tear other down and compete against eachother. Instagram influencers are set up with their phones and tripods everywhere, especially at night. Bathrooms are not well cleaned. Its been a clown show since Dave left. No longer a serious bodybuilding gym since.
