I must say that I'm glad we did, and these guys are great! We just finished the basic handgun safety course, and it was excellent! They covered all the basics of loading and operating firearms, safety, and laws. The classroom time is very informative, and the range time is great. We got to practice with a bunch of different firearms ranging from .22 to .45, and a bunch in between. The NRA certified instructors are very friendly, helpful, and know their stuff, You can tell that they love and believe in what they're doing. HDF is also working to help maintain and improve ownership and usage rights in Hawaii, and as an organization they have range days where the whole group will gather and enjoy some private range time. With completion of the course you're not only given your affidavit certifying completion of the course, but you become an HDF member for the year. I'm looking forward to taking full advantage of this membership, and see what else HDF has to offer!

There were 2 parts to the Basic Pistol Safety Course. There was classroom time and range time. David and Joey was very thorough with the information that they taught during the classroom time. They did so good that it made everyone feel confident that they can pass the test at the end of the classroom time and everyone did pass! David and Joey was also very good instructors during the range time. We were able to shoot at different distances. During the shooting, we were able to pick and choose which pistol we want to shoot. I was very pleased that they had a Glock 19 because that is the pistol that I'm looking to get in the future and was glad that I was able to get a feel for it.
