It's a shame really, that this random, small, strip mall Chinese Take-out restaurant was one of the best meals we had while in St. Augustine. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled we happened upon it and gave it a try, but it also says a lot about some of the other overpriced meals we had while staying here. Had a little trouble ordering because of language barrier I assume. Tried to make sure he got the order right and made the mistake not to check it before taking it home. Order was wrong and the food was very skimpy portions for the above average price. 12$ my order but he gave me chicken teriyaki sticks which was listed for a much lower price. We don't get Chinese food often, but when we do, Fire Wok has never let us down. Food is cooked to order and meals have very generous portions, with a crispy egg roll and fried rice included. The pizza place next door was full, so we reluctantly decided to try Fire Wok. The setting is not attractive - there are 4, 4-top tables, some Ikea-looking floral canvases on the wall, and behind the counter/cashier you can see them cooking your food. The cashier lady was pleasant enough but neither rude nor especially polite. The menu is American Chinese food. We ordered the pork mai fun and Hunan chicken. Both dishes were prepared correctly and were surprisingly tasty. The dishes were also too large for 2 adults + 2 kids to finish. Drinks are soda bottles or cans - so no refills. I would definitely eat or get takeout from here again. I want to add that this is for the Vilano Beach location in the Publix shopping center, but that doesn't show up on Yelp. read more

Consistently good. I always stop in and grab dinner when I'm in Vilano. I get the same thing every time... General Tso's dinner combination and a small hot and sour soup. Hot and sour soup is amazing. Their chicken pieces are good quality and always fresh tasting. Portions are great size and reasonably priced compared to other Chinese places around. Staff is a bit hard to understand with thick accents... but are extremely friendly! read more

We have loved Fire Wok for about 5 years. The food is great, tasty, and fast. In the time of Corona virus, their service is stellar. They really protect you, themselves, and other customers. You do not enter the restaurant. At the door, a plexiglass sheet is a barrier and can be raised and lowered. Your credit card is put into a drawer that slides into the restaurant she that they can run your card. There is no direct contact. Terrific. We loved it. Great Chinese food. Delivered straight to our hotel room at the Hampton Inn Vilano Beach. The cheese Wong Tongs were amazing.

We asked if they could substitute Tofu for any dish that came with meat and were told yes. The woman at the counter was friendly and the restaurant looked clean. I had the Tofu w/cashews and Karen had Kung Pao Tofu. I never knew that Tofu could ever be tough and overly chewy. I know now. It may be different for meat eaters. For vegetarians it may not be the best choice. read more

I love this place. It's perfect for lazy beach days when you're just coming out of the waves in the evening and you haven't washed your hair, but you're hungry. They aren't far from anyone staying on Vilano, and they give you large portions for the price. Everything has a very good taste and is always hot when we carry out. The restaurant is a little small itself, but it's always very clean and the staff is pleasant both over the phone and in person. Their wonton soup is very flavorful, and their egg rolls have never been greasy when I've gotten them (rare). Probably some of the better Chinese food I've had anywhere. read more

Don't waste your time or money. This is the closest Chinese restaurant to my home, so we have given them many opportunities. The fastest our food has ever been prepared has been an hour, but it usually is closer to 1.5 hours. They NEVER get the order right, wether that's giving us something completely different than what we ordered, or being charged for a dinner portion but receiving a lunch portion. Take your business anywhere else, and I guarantee it'll be a better experience. read more

Been a customer here for a long time and ordered my meal and as soon as I got home noticed the food I ordered did not have any sauce on it like it was supposed to. I called the store and let them know that and they said they would make me a new meal, drove all the way back to retrieve the food again and I got there and this is where the mess happened. The manager was screaming at me in front of all customers accusing me of not liking her food and had no manners what so ever. Her daughter who was working with her had to come out and apologize that her mom was having a bad day. I did not have it because I would never treat my customers they way she has treated me and I've been coming here for a long time! When she finally made my food again she yelled at me from the door to come in and retrieve me food and made yet another scene in front of my daughter and even more customers this time and said she did it right this time, threw it in a bag viciously and almost slapped her daughter in front of everyone for trying to help. I am left in awe and upset from this experience and will never return here or recommend this place to anyone visiting St.Augustine. read more
