Ordered pizzas for a business meeting, and it was literally the best pizza I have ever had. Not only is the pizza great, the atmosphere is awesome. I can't believe Amarilllo has such a jewel, right here in our backyard. If you like spicy food, order the Hot Mama, or the Green Chili Cheeseburger pizza. It is phenomenal. We also ordered a cheeseburger, and I can honestly say, I've never seen a burger wrapped in a pizza dough and cooked like a crust around the whole thing. My friend said it was really good. This is definitely a place to take family, or friends from out of town to impress them. Wish I had pictures, but we couldn't wait to dig in, and before we knew it, it was gone. read more

I have heard great things about this place but have never experienced them myself. We placed a to go order once to give it a try and have never gone back. While I give them some grace because they were very busy, both in their physical location and catering an event across town that appeared very demanding, that doesn't stop my pizza from being ice cold by the time I got it home, which is a short drive. I also arrived when they told me it would be ready by and had to wait another 15 to 20 minutes in order to get my food. I understand being busy and even the wait time, but if I arrive on time and have to wait to get my to go order for that long, my pizza better be fresh. read more

Amazing pizza! My daughter is vegan and they accommodated her pizza and she loved it! We also loved our pizza and the s'mores calzone for dessert! We had higher expectations for this place but found that it was rather overpriced for what was served. The pizza was decent but the crust was chewy (a personal preference I get it but still)and the sauce was rather skimpy. The atmosphere was definitely giving off a much more adult and uppity vibe which is fine but probably not the greatest to bring kids to. There were other children besides our 3 year old at the time of visit but it felt like the place was more geared towards couples and young adult groups rather than families. The dessert menu was great and we had the smore cannoli which was chewy and very tasty but again our total bill for 2 adults, a child, with 1 pizza, 1 kids pizza, dessert and 1 bottle of wine was about $90. read more

Pros: Good bruschetta Cons: Terrible service The location isn't ideal, but that didn't really bother me. The decor was nice, I was definitely impressed when we walked in the door. The hostess was very pleasant and we were seated and given glasses of water immediately. That's about where my favor ends. Our waiter walked up to our table to take our drink and appetizer order. He walked away and another waiter came to take our order. It was like this for the duration of our meal. We were helped by two servers who didn't have good communication. About halfway into the meal, my friend ordered a beer from server #1. Five minutes later we see that server sitting at a table talking while server #2 asks us how we're doing and we inquire about the beer. He goes to check and then server #1 comes back and apologizes about forgetting the beer and goes to get it. By the end of the meal, our checks were causing mass confusion between us, our friends, and our two servers. The food, I will say, is good. Not great. We ordered the bruschetta, which was different than any other bruschetta I've had, but it was probably my favorite part of the meal. We ordered two different kinds of pizza between the 4 of us and we shared. It was mediocre. There is better pizza in Amarillo, by far, but it is better than a chain. If I want gourmet pizza again, I'll stick to 575, for sure. Another thing that was a HUGE turnoff: one of the servers shorted us by $10, but we didn't realize it until we had already left. It wasn't worth it to go back and argue, that server just got a nice, unearned tip. read more

Ok, to the 575 crowd, YES I like that pizza better. HOWEVER, given the crowds and small seating area at 575, along with the fact that some of us like to try new places and have some variety in our choices in a particular style of food, I think slamming Fire Slice because of our love of 575 does it, and Amarillo, a disservice. We have been 3 times now (once on a Groupon) and found the atmosphere inviting, less crowded than 575, but perhaps still trying a bit too hard at times. That said, the service has been spot on on two occasions and a bit slow only once. The pizza is excellent and THE SIZE IS PERFECT for two. Try the Green Chili Cheeseburger or the Good-fella... My wife likes the Tommy Boy (which is a white sauce-less that doesn't score as well with me). I do like the calamari for an appetizer - not the best I've had, but for Amarillo it is very good. As a couple of people have mentioned, the location IS horrible, but (Jeez get a life folks) sometimes the out of the way places are the best finds. It is behind the Summit Shopping Center in the back alley (drive past Chop Chop from Coulter) and it is on your left. Give it a try, I'll bet you come back. Eeeek! I hate to write a bad review of a place I generally like, but in this case I have to. Went to Fire Slice tonight, and our normally attentive waitress could not have been more pre-occupied! We never got the wings we ordered (we were not billed for them either, but we definitely ordered them!), we were never asked if we wanted refills on drinks and we got our check with our pizzas so basically it was "hurry up and eat so you can pay out!" It's not like we were there at closing time, but she seemed in a hurry to go hang out in the bar with the others. We came here to watch a friend of ours play a gig and had the Wise Guy Pizza and Tommy Boy Pizza. Both were absolutely amazing and perfectly cooked. Service was amazing and incredibly friendly. We had the opportunity to meet the owners and they were very welcoming and checked in on us throughout the night. I was expecting a kind of bar atmosphere because of the exterior paint job touting Live Music, Great Food and the reviews about the excellent beer selection, but that's not the case at all. The place has an unexpected relaxed art-house feel that works very well to give it a unique sense of place. The food was tasty. My husband and I shared a Tommy Boy pizza, which is a white pizza with mushrooms, artichokes and chicken. The chicken was dry and detracted from the pizza's flavor. Asparagus would make a better third topping, but it was still very good. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. On our way out, at least three employees cheerfully thanked us for coming. read more

We're from Portland, OR, a town know for outstanding food, so we're happy to find places in Amarillo that are on par with the excellent food we are accustomed to. Fire Slice is distinctly an above average if not excellent restaurant/bar. To find it you have to drive behind the shopping center but it's well worth the search. Great calzones, salads, paninis and desserts (homemade, even the ice cream). We can't wait to come back and try the pizza. read more

Went here for lunch today to pick up a pizza. This place was very difficult to find, even with GPS. It's located BEHIND the shopping plaza, like where those shops would have their inventory shipped in via the semi trucks. Location was awkward but I won't deduct any stars for that. Sometimes the best food comes from hole in the wall places that are hard to find. I called the pizza in ahead of time and was advised they only carry one size -- 12". Was told it should be enough for two people unless one of is is very hungry. While I appreciated this Information, it became obvious that I was more hungry than anticipated and a larger size pie option would have been nice. It was $16 for this small 12" pie with two toppings. Not terrible, but certainly not cheap. The crust was a blackish brown. I love stone/Brick oven pizza for the special taste in the crust. Unfortunately here, the crust was spread too thin and had no real rise or doughy-ness to it. Just thin and burnt. Major strike in my opinion as the crust is half the value of a stone oven baked pie. Another star missing for the missing toppings. We ordered a pepperoni pineapple pizza and had about 3 small slices of pineapple on the entire pizza. So all-in-all, poorly made, burnt crust pizza that is small and only comes in one overpriced size. The location is also terrible (although not reflected In the rating.) Rated this 2 stars instead of one simply for the customer service. While I called this order in and picked it up (and ate at my hotel less than 2 miles away) the experiences I did have with the service staff on the phone and in person were both very friendly. read more

Everyone likes to compare this to 575 Pizzeria, and I would have to say I prefer 575 in both the quality of the pizza and the atmosphere. However, this is not a bad option. The pizza is still pretty good, and they have a quality beer selection (which I value highly). The atmosphere seemed more quiet and laid back. Of course, I can't fail to mention the location of this place. It is highly unusually located, that is for sure. It is basically behind a shopping area and you have to go down an alley to get to it. Plus the building looks like it should be a strip club. Actually, if you add the building location and look together, I can't believe it's NOT a strip club! read more

Finally...An establishment in SW Amarillo that doesn't fit the franchise-warehouse-sports-bar-kitschy-junk-on-the-wall- model! The mood is casual and laid back, yet classy. The service was friendly and efficient. Everything on the menu looked amazing, so we surveyed the staff regarding their favorites. They gave us a couple of suggestions on the menu, as well as some off menu favorites. We went with the Americana and loved it. The price is completely reasonable, too. Location could be a bit tricky for someone unfamiliar with the area (although the directions on the website should solve that problem for any one unfamiliar), and overall, this is the hidden gem SW Amarillo has been lacking for so many years! I will definitely be recommending Fireslice to everyone I know, and can't wait to go back for another visit! read more

We set out in early July from DFW to see the west and our firsts top was in Amarillo. The locals suggested Fireslice would sate our hunger and since it was late, and they were open, we went. Fireslice knows they are not easy to find. They are tucked behind a shopping center. If you understand that, it's no problem. If you don't I can see it getting frustrating. As we approached, I was concerned, I had missed a turn, but we arrived and it was Fireslice. Since we went, they have added a link on their site to help find them. This is good, because they make a good pie. There is a caveat, but it's good pizza and excellent road eats for the weary traveler making a stop around Amarillo. On to the pies We tried two. One was the Margherita. The crust was quality and well-represented the brick oven that baked it. The fresh basil added nice flavor and the marinara was good. Our second pie had the three cheese blend and some of the housemade Italian sausage. Sausage was excellent. Three cheese blend was a nice mix of asiago, parm and mozzarella. I liked it better than the fresh mozzarella on the Margherita. Everything tasted fresh and good. The pies were not overwhelming in size and the ingredients had a nice balance. The one caveat, if you have had NYC, New Haven or similar pizza (New England Greek is another type that springs to mind), and that's what you like, this isn't it. It doesn't have the yeasty and slightly sour bite in the dough. It's not bad, it's good, very good for Texas pizza, but it's not quite what a northeastern crust tastes like. We got take out, so I cannot speak to the overall feel as a sit down patron could. However, the vibe inside was cool. The layout had nice touches. The barman was on point, and had a good rapport with the folks who were sitting at the counter and dining. The dining room was a touch removed from the entryway and bar area. I thought that was a nice touch. Definitely would go back next time we're in Amarillo. I think I'd go for the live music and would sample some of the craft beers they offer. read more
