I've only done yoga outside of a class setting before. Basically being shown a position by somebody with experience or watching a video and holding a position I regret trying to explain that to the instructor when she asked if I've done yoga before. I should have said no. Not like this I haven't. People have suggested that I take a class before and I really had no idea that it would be so beneficial. I definitely didn't want to take a full hour class or hot yoga! I live right down the street and I had no idea Fire shaper was even there. I really should have realized by the name that it was gonna be hot, but I suppose than I probably wouldn't have tried it. They have certain rules in place to maintain social distancing. You're only allowed to take your mask off at your spot. They're not renting things. It was a great experience for my mind, my body and my soul. Holding the various positions build your strength, endurance and flexibility. Focusing on your body is a great way to clear your mind of whatever stress you are feeling in your life. The heat definitely helps you warm up your muscles to maximize your stretch and burn more calories. Ariel was the instructor of the flow class and she was great. She took us through a lot of different poses that flowed together. She seemed to give everybody in the class the attention that they needed. I didn't bring any water, my towel was small and it really was pretty pretty brutal. But when it was over I felt great and I slept like a baby. The next day I was surprised that my legs were as sore as they were. Did I get a full body workout? Fire shaper did everything right. You can buy classes and sign up for class online. Ok so I am very new to yoga , especially hot yoga and I suffer from fibromyalgia so it's going to be a long road for me but this place has given me hope. So I believe that today was my fourth class and I have to be honest the first few I wasn't so sure if I was going to keep going because I was a little intimidated and uncomfortable. I am very self concise and felt "out of place" the first few times , that changed today . First off the instructor Amanda is wonderful. I was feeling like I was getting a lot out of her class and I felt like she was really paying attention to the students and when they needed some guidance. Unfortunately I got very dizzy and the middle class and had to walk out because I really wasn't feeling well at all she came out to check on me and suggested I go in and just at least lay down on the mat I try to do so for a few minutes but I knew I was going to be sick so I walked out again. When I came out of the bathroom another instructor I think her name is Karen P was waiting to see if I was OK. She is the main reason that I'm going to be coming back to the classes she was a complete stranger to me but she sat me down and spoke to me and pull things out of me like she had known me for years and made me realize a lot of things and the reasons why I'm having such a hard time in the classes. Both she and Amanda are huge asset to the studio and I am grateful for the fact that I actually got sick today because if it wasn't for that I probably wouldn't of gone back because I would've just given up if no one spoke to me and pushed me through it. I really do hope that the owners see this post and let their instructors know what a difference they made for me this evening I feel positive and I'm going to keep coming back it may take me a long time before I could do a lot of the moves but I'm not giving up read more

I absolutely love this yoga studio. The instructors are amazing, and they are friendly. I practice about 4 times a week. I love Shape Class with Karen P. it's not an easy class but it's one of the best classes I've taken. she is an awesome teacher. I love Flow class with Toni she is one of the best yoga instructors. I also Love Sunday flow class with Amanda, she is super friendly, I always enjoy her class. I would highly recommend Fire Shaper to anyone in the northern NJ area. The teachers are great at giving you a great workout and making sure you're respecting your body. read more

I love, love this studio! The instructors are amazing and the staff is super friendly. The site is clean, has two showers, plenty of cubbie space, and a variety of classes are offered throughout the morning, afternoon, and evening. (Also, you cannot beat the price. I have the monthly auto-renew package). And can I just say, I love the flooring. I practice about six times a week and the shock absorbing flooring is so gentle on my wrists, ankles, and hips. I have become totally spoiled. I don't enjoy practicing on hardwood floors anymore. I have tried almost every studio in the area and Fireshaper in North Haledon is by far my favorite! I highly recommend this site to anyone interested in Hot Yoga :-) read more

I'll give this studio 3 stars for a couple different reasons, first off, the studio carpet is a huge no no!! It has got to be impossible to clean, everyone's sweat drips into the creases and the place SMELLS!!! Second, It's not in the easiest place to find- downstairs of an office building.. Now for the pros- The teachers and classes-they were very enjoyable! Each teacher has their own way of teaching, some have really nice flows (good for beginners like myself) and others have a quicker routine, nothing impossible! The room is definitely hot and there tend to be a lot of people. I'd like to see this place expand and have a wood or pergo floor then it would be a 5 star place! read more

I also reviewed the Rutherford location, in another post. This is just for this studio. I liked that it was larger than the Rutherford studio and seemed to have more mid-day classes than most yoga places in the area. They also have one more bathroom and one more shower than the other location. I do not like the floor, it does not feel nice on my feet. But you are on your mat most of the time so it is not the biggest deal. I think that they have the heat a bit too high, and so they are all constantly adjusting the fans and opening the doors, which while you want the cool air, you have to know where to place yourself in the room in order to get or not get the benefit of their adjustments. Love the Friday 11am FLOW with Diana (??). She was by far my favorite instructor. Caryn and another am instructor were also great. Some of the others were a little too chatty. I wanted to tell one of the to keep quiet!! Especially when she said something is still bothering you. I wanted to yell, "Yeah. your mouth!" However, most of the instructors were fine. I give this location four stars, because compared to Rutherford, there was more space, easy free parking, a better schedule, and better facilities. I do not give it five because I find the price a wee bit high. read more

15 minutes can make a huge difference! I first came across hot yoga when I lived in NYC and have practiced in LA and Las Vegas. Not much difference in terms of the setup. I will say, I have been happily surprised with the instructors at this studio. Sue is by far my favorite; I think its b/c she uses music during the session and teaches a 75 minutes class (as opposed to 90). read more

I bought a Groupon for this studio, which as far as I can tell used to be part of the Hot Yoga NJ studios. The location is in the basement of a doctor's office building and is a little dingy on the outside, though they've decorated the lobby area of the studio nicely. There are benches, changing rooms, and showers. I've never been to a Bikram class before, though I go once in a while to another hot vinyasa yoga studio, Younique Yoga in Cedar Grove. I'm not someone who is easily phased by heat and I've been doing non-hot yoga regularly for the past 4 years, but this studio was sweltering. There were fans on, but they didn't do a thing. The teacher opened the doors every couple minutes to let a gust of cool air in. The flooring in the studio is like an open weave sponge so the floor feels soft and it doesn't get slippery, but I wonder how much bacteria grows within that weave. It must be impossible to clean. Some people may enjoy this sort of thing, but it's not for me. read more
