As my intention was to support Canada and Montreal we chose both white and red Quebec wines (ground $100 each) with the assistance of the knowledgeable sommelier. Desserts were Crème brûlée and crêpes Suzette, both perfect. After dinner drinks and smokes in the sophisticated cigar bar completed the experience. Service was perfect. Unobtrusive and respectful of our privacy, but ever-present to refresh our glasses and attend to our every need. It was a flawless steakhouse experience from start to finish. Went in with no expectations but was blown away by everything, from the service, to the food. Gobsmacked that this isn't more well known as I know so many people who has been to montreal countless of times even the locals who hasn't been to this steak house. Its also a casino and cigar lounge so it makes it even better. Oyster rockerfeller ($21) ~ OH GOD this was phenomenal. The bechamel and the parmesan cheese was so rich and paired so well with the fatty and sweet oyster. 10/10. Fried calamari ($24) ~ super crispy, and well seasoned the pieces of calamari were big and the cocktail sauce it paired with was chef kiss. It was perfectly cooked and not rubbery at all! 9.5/10. Linguini with octopus and cuttlefish ($42) ~ the pasta was al dente, there was chunks of tomato, and seafood which was nice. 7.5/10 22oz bone in cowboy rib steak ($75) ~ perfect cooked and perfectly seasoned it was so good and the meat melts in your mouth! It was absolutely chef kiss if I didn't have to share I would've devoured this soo quickly it would've scared everyone. Definitely worth it for the price, and it was beautifully done. 10/10. Wild mushroom ($14) ~ well seasoned and sauteed it was good and the mix of mushrooms were a great pairing with the steak. 8.5/10 Loaded baked potato ($16) ~ I UNDERSTAND - this is a well known side dish here and I know $16 for potato its totally worth it though. The potato was so cheesy and buttery and melts in your mouth it was rich and also paired perfectly with all the dishes we got. This potato was on another level for sure. 10/10. Empress gin & tonic ~ stunning perfect ratio of gin and tonic, and it was delicious an the rosemary on top was the perfect garnish. 10/10.

We were lucky to have Dino as our waiter; he was attentive, knowledgeable, and made our visit feel extra special. We loved how kind he was as well. The food was exceptional, especially the sauces! The crab cakes and a sauce with dill I believe and calamari and sweet sorta mayo but soooo good ! They were standouts - perfectly cooked and flavorful. We loved our medium steaks, cooked just right and incredibly juicy. The baked potato was massive, and they didn't hold back on the fillings, making it a true treat. And we can't forget the crusty bread they bring to start, which was the perfect way to kick off the meal. Sterling's is officially on my list of go-to spots for a classy evening or late lunch or a girls night out since they have an awesome menu. Can't wait to come back for those crab cakes :)

The place was pretty busy when we got there but it took all of 10 minutes to get a table. I got the steak and eggs, and was happy with my choice. The steak was a pretty low-tier cut (thin and fatty), but that was expected, and it was cooked fairly well. I got my eggs over-easy and the yolks were perfectly runny. Additionally, the breakfast potatoes that I got with my meal were scrumptious. I'll also add that while the portion of fruit they give is small, it's actually FRESH, instead of the soupy soggy fruit salad most places give. Others at my table ordered a grilled-cheese style breakfast sandwich and a waffle eggs benedict. Everyone thought the food was pretty good.

Jamie W and I didn't know this restaurant was part of a broader chain. However, it became obvious when we looked through the laminated photo menu. Smashburgers and related diner fare appeared to be the specialties here. There was definitely a TGI Friday's vibe about the gluttonous food and the lackluster service.
