Ahhh, Fire & Soul, how I love thee. I work close to F&S and eat there all the time. My personal favorite is the Turkey Wrap. Filled with thick sliced Turkey, fresh avocado, greens, jalapeno aioli, all wrapped in a Spinach tortilla. It is light, fresh and wonderful. As hard as I try to eat healthy, I always get an order of sweet potato fries. Served with the same jalapeno aioli and curry mustard (all made from scratch) for dipping. They are simply out of this world. The trailer has an enormous hand fabricated smoker attached to the front of the trailer, and the BBQ that comes out of it is moist, flavorful and mouth watering. They make a pulled pork sandwich (no shortcuts here, it is smoked for about 16 hours), served on Texas Toast with a helping of BBQ sauce. Smokey, tender and tons of flavor. Their smoked wings are seasoned with salt and pepper only and flash fried to crisp the skin. Simple. Delicious. I broke down the other day and got the hand dipped corn dog with a side of stone ground mustard. It took me all of about 3 minutes to devour that bad boy. Like everything else Ive had, it was damn good. They offer several vegetarian/vegan options (salads, vegan corn dog etc.) as well, so they can cater to any group of people with different preferences. Lastly, the guys that work the truck are great. Food is always fresh, hot, fast and the service always friendly and helpful. If youre out on the east side and need a fix, night or day, F&S is where its at. read more

BUGS IN FOOD! I work in the service industry so I get out pretty late on Fridays and Saturdays. Soul and Fire used to be my choice of food, I always order the fried chicken sandwich because of how good and reasonably priced it is. But yesterday I found a fried June bug in my fries and I was not happy. I have probably been there 20 times and nothing like this has ever happened. Finding a bug in your food is never acceptable. Not to mention how moody the guy in the trailer was. He acted like it was a bad thing buying food from there. Look, it's your job to serve food, like it is mine. Man. I was not impressed by Fire & Soul. The menu has some interesting items, and we were in the mood to pig out a little. I love all things buffalo, so I ordered the buffalo chicken quesadilla and swapped fries for sweet potato fries (SPFs!) At first, I thought the cook had mistakenly left off the buffalo sauce, because I couldn't even taste it or see it! The quesadilla was better once I asked for a side of buffalo sauce, but it still lacked fire. And soul. The SPFs were totally awesome though, and I loved the japaleno ranch and curry mustard. My boyfriend had the fried avocado, which was a total no-brainer for him 'cause avocados are his very favorite thing. We thought it would be crunchy and tempura style, but it was just kind of burned on the outside, and the avocado didn't get gooey or warm at all. Also, the avocado was chopped up into little chunks, which didn't seem like the best approach to fryin' up an avocado. Meh. Alas, there are far too many good options for grub in the 'hood to return to F&S. read more

I stopped in last night for a late dinner. As I asked about the menu and tried to decide, the guy there said "Our chicken wings are superb." Well you don't have to tell me twice; Order up! They came out served over a bed of fries with some spiced mayo and ketchup on the side. Now, I usually prefer some sort of cayenne spice on my wings, the hotter the better. Fire & Soul smokes theirs, then coats them in just salt and black pepper before a quick bath in the fryer. They were crispy, perfectly cooked through, and, well, "superb" as promised. The pepper gives them a nice kick. More of a slow burn. The fries were crispy and hot. I know I'll be back for more wings and to sample some of their other offerings! Oh, service was great too. I would give it 0 stars if I could. I don't know what anyone with positive reviews is talking about. Service was slow and moody. A dirty looking girl in a shabby trailer taking order. Not even kidding, I thought someone had hijacked the the Fire Soul truck to serve over priced terrible food. I came here during the Wednesday of south by south west around noon. It was a slow day, not a crazy sxsw rush day. Side note: my BF and some of his friends have been here before and were shocked by our experience. They said that in the past they've had sweet potato fries and a great pulled pork sandwich on Texas toast.... none of these items were available to order when my BF and I stopped by on this particular day. Maybe this was due to a special limited menu for sxsw but either way, if you're serving something you should be serving quality food and serve it with joy and passion for your job. If you don't want to be in the service industry, don't open a god damn food truck. We ordered the fiery vegan dog, cheeseburger and the fried avocado. The total with tip came to $30 and we waited for over 20 minutes for our food when there was literally no line. When we finally got our food it looked like something you would get at Jack in the Box or some place of similar caliber. I took one bite into my "vegan" dog to find a sausage that tasted an awful lot like meat. I went back to double check with the girl that it indeed was vegan and she assured me that yes, it was. I really don't think it was. The corn dog breading was grainy and had nothing fiery about it. It was flavorless and extremely greasy. The fries that were served with the dog looked like they came from a terrible fast food restaurant (Wendy's has better fries than these)... I can't think of anything to compare them to because I don't know that I've had fries that bad. I felt really bad for my BF who ordered a cheeseburger which looked literally like a school lunch cafeteria cheeseburger (he said it smelled and tasted like it too). He asked for it without lettuce and tomato but it came with lettuce and tomato. The fried avocado was served with a side of the same disgusting fries as the dog. It's hard to mess up avocado... the avocado pieces themselves were ripe and delicious (thank you, mother nature) but the breading on it was the same as the corn dog breading so it was similarly flavorless and greasy. After taking one bite of everything I was so frustrated and disappointed as was my BF who just kept taking sad bites of his burger. I wanted to ask for a refund but didn't want to bother... I have never in recent memory had such a bad meal and I have never not finished a meal. After one bite of my "vegan" dog and a few bites of avocado, I threw it all away and we went on to search for something else with the taste of cheap grease in our mouths and setting uneasily in our stomachs. I never ever want to come back here and would tell everyone to stay far away. Disgusting. And a disgrace to the good name of food trucks in Austin. read more

This was the only spot open on a Friday afternoon in the food truck lot (aside from a pizza place). I might have missed it otherwise. Great choice on this place. Life changing pork sandwiches and fried avocado balls with sweet potato fries really did the trick. Everything was fresh and hot and the gut preparing the food was friendly. They have a smoker attached to the side of the trailer, so these guys are not kidding. Delicious. read more

Tried this place out while trailer hopping with some friends. I had seen and passed by this place before, but never actually tried it as the menu looked a bit pricey. But no to my experience here. A friend and I split the 16 hour smoked pulled pork sandwich on fries ($8.50). I have to say it was a pretty good sandwich. Very smokey, porky, and well seasoned. The bbq sauce helped add more moister and give it a good tang as well. The fries were a bit starchy/crumbly, but not so much that the fries became undesirable. My friends, who had ordered the same thing, and me agreed that it suffered from a lack of veggies or some kind of slaw. Don't get me wrong I like meaty sandwiches, but the addition of slaw would definitely give it a needed crunch, brightness, and acidity. Overall, this places is pretty good. It's not great, and I think it looks a bit expensive, but my experience was not bad as the previous yelpers it seems. Maybe they've improved over time. read more

Sadly this place is a must-miss. Somehow, my $7.50 burger and $2 coke ended up costing $11.36...and unless the City of Austin recently changed the sales tax to 20%, I was overcharged. Beyond that, the service was slow, one person to run the entire trailer is not enough, and the food quality and taste was average at best. I ate here last weekend because i was completely wasted and needed some food. I got a vegan corn dog. They guys took about 15 minutes and they told me the batter wasnt ready and that they would take a couple more minutes. I was patiently waiting looking at the drunks walking by, no big deal. However the girl at the counter was EXTRA nice and gave me a free drink and free spreads just because the dog was a bit late. IMHO that is amazing service. Had never really tried Austin food trucks until I stumbled on Fire & Soul - now I can't imagine my life without this place. The vegan corn dog is the best corn dog (vegan or otherwise) I've ever had - pair it with sweet potato fries and their special mustard and you can't go wrong. While the quinoa salad leaves much to be desired (more mixed greens than quinoa), hard to go wrong with their roasted beet salad. A little pricey for a food truck but totally worth it. read more

My friend is always raving about the battered and fried avocados so when we went to the cart, the vegan corndog caught my eye. Guys, I don't have really high standards for fake meat corndogs. The morningstar frozen ones are great to me. The corndog I got from here was absolutely awful. From the texture of the "dog" to the actual outside coating (too spicey, and very dry.. how do you even mess that up), nothing impressed. The texture of the dog is what made it inedible for me. Something was very off and made me queasy. On top of that, the sweet potato fries were definitely very over cooked and tasted burnt. Very unsatisfactory meal which I thought was highly priced to begin with. Only saving grace was the local bottled root beer they sell, which is what the one star is for. read more

Veggie corndog in jalapeno cornbread batter with sweet potato fries (included) and a diet coke= $10 A little pricey but the jalapeno cornbread batter was definitely worth the try. Sweet potato fries were average but sweet potato fries are DELICIOUS so that's good. This place was a total ripoff. I'm basing it solely on a special, the roasted pork shoulder. At $8.50, I'd expected it to be a fairly substantial amount of food. Instead, it was maybe 1/6 pound of roast pork shoulder on a small flour tortilla, served on a bed of fries. I'm not sure if they were going for wrap or taco -- but either way, the thing was the size of a taco and had nothing but pork on it. Worse, the pork was bland and way underseasoned. Would have been fine were it under $4, but even then I'd have been disappointed. read more

Ate here today for lunch at my office building. Service was very slow. I ordered a chicken avocado wrap and it took 30 minutes for my order to be ready. I'm not sure why, they didn't even need to cook anything. It was just several cold ingredients rolled into a tortilla. The wrap was really small for $9. I was thinking it would be more like a burrito but it was much smaller. I also didn't like how it was wrapped - they left both ends open, so as you eat it everything falls out the other end. The wrap actually tasted really good, I just won't bother to go here again especially given the wait time. read more

I must have been waiting in the same line as kate b. outside my office building because it took me literally 30 minutes to get my food. The odd thing was that there was only one person in front of me to order with maybe four people (tops) waiting at the side for their food. I ordered the chicken avocado wrap. It was $8.50 and I thought it was a normal size. However, given the ingredients, it seemed a little pricey for what you got. The wrap consists of grilled chicken, lettuce, cucumbers, and dressing wrapped in a tortilla. Nothing too special. Some of the pieces of lettuce looked brown, so that could have probably been more fresh. Overall, the food itself was fine. Nothing special, nothing too bad. I'm dropping one star because of how unbelievably long it took to get my wrap. read more

I cannot say enough about Fire & Soul. I am in love with their sweet potato fries with Jalapeno Aioli. When I asked what was in the sauce the guy just said "deliciousness". Never have more true of words been spoken my friend. They have such a wonderful combo of foods on their menu that I think anyone can find something they like. They're brisket sandwich comes on some yummy crunch bread and is really packed in there. I really like their corndogs too. All in all, I haven't tried anything I didn't like. I find the prices to be reasonable for what I'm paying for- good quality ingredients, handmade right for me, and all done by only 1 person. There is always some good music playing and it is nice to just sit and enjoy Austin at a food trailer park. After all, what's more Austin than that? read more

I feel kinda bad writing this review because the owner is so nice! So hopefully it comes out more as constructive criticism. I'll start with the ingredients. They are HEB brand/grocery store bought. For the listed menu price here they should be using local ingredients. For example, I ordered the Roasted Beet Wrap which had feta cheese and romaine lettuce. The feta cheese was that dried-out crumble stuff which I NEVER even buy for home consumption. Please, please, please if you are reading this find a really good feta cheese to use instead, and load it on the wrap. I think I got 3 dried crumbles, and I LOVE feta cheese so I kinda wanted to cry while I ate this. Also, the romaine lettuce was the bagged/pre-washed type and a little brown. C'mon- this is Austin. There is a farmers market down the street on 5th. Use it! And then the wrap- a Mission Brand Spinach tortilla. Really? Again...La Milagra down the street makes awesome tortillas!! I really wanted to to like this place because the menu sounds delicious. However, if they don't start taking pride in the food they are making and using quality ingredients,I will never be able to eat here again and unfortunately will probably warn people to steer clear. This seems an ongoing theme in most of the user reviews. Sorry, owner dude! You are bad ass but the food is not. read more

Who knew you could make vegan food taste so good!!! I had the vegan corndog with curry mustard at Fire & Soul and I was whisked back to childhood. I ordered it with a full size order of sweet potato fries and it made for a heavenly dinner! Make sure to ask for all their dipping sauces...totally worth it! I would buy a big jar of the curry mustard if I could. My friend had the pork sandwich and said it was amazing! Prices are a tad on the expensive side compared to the other trailers in the park, but they have a good variety and some creative choices. read more
