Returned to dine-in! The inside of the restaurant is classy and has character, and it's bigger than it looks from the outside or when you first walk in. This time I had the Methi Malai Matar and a Sundried Tomato Olive Naan, and Masala Chaas to drink. My mom had the Paneer Butter Masala and a Garlic Naan, and we ordered the Fire Chicken to take back for my dad. The food was once again very good. The methi malai matar was flavourful without being very hot/spicy and the peas tasted very fresh! I ended up eating a lot of the gravy of my mom's butter paneer too - I started with just a taste, but then she had a lot left over at the end and I couldn't help but finish it. The gravy was nice and tangy, with a pleasant, rich mouthfeel. My mom ordered this she asked the waitress for the mildest paneer dish on the menu (we weren't given the option to specify spice level, but we didn't try, so if you need to, it could still be worth asking), but it still had a bit more of a bite than my dish, which I would have described as relatively mild but not spiceless. She was still able to handle it fine - her spice preference is low but not zero - it was just spicy to her. I didn't try the fire chicken but my dad spoke very highly of it and it smelled amazing. He also said, as you would expect, that it was quite spicy. My mom and I agreed the naans were just amazing. I think she said it was probably the best she'd had and for me there's been too many good ones to say for sure, but it was definitely a contender, and I remember last time we were all also in awe of the bread. They get it perfectly crispy without sacrificing softness. I also really liked the sundried tomato and olive flavour which I haven't seen before at other restaurants, and it complimented both of our entrees well. My masala chaas was really good too - it was a little spicy but still went down very smoothly and was a refreshing compliment to my meal. Even though it did have a little kick, it would still temper the heat well if you ordered a really spicy dish. I do wish they had metal or at least paper straws instead of plastic - (they're pretty much standard in Vancouver now, so I'm a little spoiled) - I would skip the straw where possible but I ended up needing it here to get all the froth, and I didn't think to bring my own. The staff was very polite, but not as attentive as we really needed. When we ordered our meals, we told our waitress we were going to place a takeout order later, but she disappeared after bringing our food and never came back to check on us, so we had to get the attention of another waitress to order the takeout when we were about halfway done eating. It was ready before we were done though, which seemed quick. We also never had our waters refilled. I think the prices are okay for the quality. The naans are big and the mains are reasonably-sized. For me, an entire naan and an entire entree (plus the chaas) was a filling but not heavy meal, so there's room to add appetizers if you have bigger appetites and/or want to go all out. One thing that is puzzling to me is that their online menu and takeout menu is significantly cheaper than what you pay to dine-in. On the online menu, you can choose the size of the entrees, and they're all cheaper than the price on the menu in the actual restaurant, but my "small" from last time was about the same as the dine-in portion, and if you order online, a small Methi Malai Matar is $11.5, but the dine-in price was $19.5. It's worth paying the extra few dollars for the dine-in experience in my view, but this is a huge difference and they should make their menus consistent across web and physical. The takeout is definitely the way to go if you want a high-quality meal for a lower price. read more

We were staying nearby. We are from Philadelphia but my wife is Mumbai born. So we were definitely sampling the local Desi joints. She got Malai chicken and Pav Bhaji to bring back to the hotel. We are here to report that the Malai chicken was quite good. It was flavorful and tender. We are also here to report that the Pav Bhaji was a complete miss. When she opened it up, she said out loud that she could tell it would not meet her standards. When she took a bite, she physically grimaced and shook her head no. The flavor profile and texture was completely off to her. The roll was not buttery at all. The Bhaji was way too much tomato and way too much spice. I took o e bite and regretted it immediately. And I have some spice tolerance. But it was definitely not close to what we know as good Pav Bhaji. One out of two will have to do. read more

Went to this place after many years. The food was good. We had the Nali Nihari ( Lamb shank) along with Amritsari chicken and Jhinga shrimps. All 3 dishes were prepared well and tasty. The bread baskets were good too. Portion size was adequate or slightly on larger side. The service was ok and friendly but can't be termed as very efficient or well trained. That area could be improved upon. The ambience of the place is adequate without being noteworthy. However the key issue is that the prices of their online menu is different from what is on the menu in restaurant. A good cozy restaurant for family dinning. Great food, good service, good ambiance. We have been there for many times in the last few months, always found the foods freshly cooked with quality ingredients and good selection of spices. They probably has one of the best chats in Ontario... Hare Patey Ki Tokri, it's a must try if you love streetfoods/chats! We also tried Nurani Kebab, Peshwari Tandoori Chicken, Kake Dhaba Keema, Anarkali Bazaar Kadhai Chicken, Ambala Wali Chicken Curry, Moordabadi Dal, Raat Wali Daal, Katal Jackfruit. Came here with a few work people for our lunch outing; so this review is based on their lunch serving. Quite a nice fancy desi high-end restaurant. The seating, vibe, service, presentation were all top notch. I ordered their Lamb Tiffin and it did come in an actual tiffin so the experience was just overwhelming great. The Tiffin included Lamb curry, daal and vegetable (bindi/ Okra) with rice & fresh naan bread. I kid you now the lamb was cooked to perfection, no smell and tender. This is a true fusion Indian restaurant. The food, ambience and service were all amazing. We starter with the harey pattey ki chaat and the manchurian gobi. Both of them were large portion sizes and tasted great. For mains we got the chefs recommended ambala wala chciken and it was tasty. It was a little sour and spicy. We also got the lazeez mughlai chicken. This was great but it was really heavy because of the cashew sauce. They gave us 3 chutneys, fried papad and onions on the side. Stopped for lunch and I was glad I did. I wasn't too sure initially because of the stars on Yelp but it was worth the trip. The restaurant looks great inside. It's got this modern yet rustic Indian decor with furniture that matches the theme. However, Eric Clapton playing in the background didn't quite fit the theme but other than that, they did a great job. When you walk in, you can see the open kitchen as well along with original art from @hatecopy. We ordered chicken and lamb Tiffin. It was presented well in these metal brass looking containers. My family ( including a 2 year old toddler) came to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Our overall experience was fine- nothing super special. Service/ ambience- good Food quality- fair Price- $$$ (7 people and we paid $300) Apps were better than dinner we ordered. We ordered veg and non-veg, meat dishes were apparently better tasting ( i am vegetarian). Dessert was a big disappointment though ( Falooda in a flat plate and we were given forks!!!). This place is pretty fancy compared to the other Indian restaurants I've been to in Brampton. That being said, the prices are pretty steep for Indian food and the portions can be fairly stingy. I think it's still worth coming here for the quality of food you're getting. Hits: - Garlic naan: Their naan is out of this world! Definitely the best I've ever had, they're basically the reason I come to this restaurant. - Ambala Wala Chicken curry: Definitely my go to dish here. It's delicious and the chicken is so tender. This is mostly due to the owner trying to squeeze in as much as covers as possible in the provided space. Now the Menu. You shall find items such as "Butter Chicken Fries, chicken tikka taco's, Kingfisher Beer Battered Fish Amratsari"; these are the dishes of a newbie cook trying to fuse Indian food with other cuisines thinking that they have created something amazing (hint hint, this is what you do with leftover food at home or find it at a carnival). We ordered Hare Patey Ki Tokri Chaat : I could taste the bitterness of the old cooking oil in the overfried potato baskets. Nurani Kebab: Chicken Mince with spices wrapped around Lamb Mince served in Shot glasses with basic green chutney underneath. Completely destroyed due to excess chilli's & spices. Among the numerous restaurants in GTA area, this one tries to be a different. The ambience is really nice - it's one of the best in the city. The bartender can suggest some creative drinks and the severs want to have a conversation with you and get to know you. There's limited items on the menu out there - which I thought was good. You should visit this place for appetizers and drinks. The appetizers are "heavy" and fill you up - you won't have a need to offer a main course. The restaurant likes to add some style to the restaurant - the servers wear black gloves which I thought was nice! Overall, a place where I'd want to visit when I want to enjoy my drink and some delicious appetizers and have a conversation with my friends and family. read more

The decor is very modern looking for an Indian restaurant and the presentation of the food is 5 stars; however, it is not worth the price. The food is mediocre at best. We ordered a few appetizers including fish pakoras and chicken 65 (the lone bright spot); the entrees were interesting (kofta, ambala chicken and daal) but failed to hit the spot for the most part. This is a hard one. I normally rate things more positively, but I had such a strange experience at Firangi! First, let me say one thing: the food is fantastic. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Food alone would be four or five stars. But the service was schizophrenic! It was never one particular server, which is OK, but they didn't seem to communicate with each other. One guy was coming by every other bite of food, another would say she'd get us something then disappear, another guy was overheard saying that it wasn't his job to get someone some water. Then, when it was time to pay, we said we needed a moment to discuss the cheque, and -- no exaggeration--she came back 20 seconds later. I said again that we needed a few minutes and said she could check back in about five minutes. Less than a minute later, she was back. I was a bit short this time when I said we needed time to talk and we would be faster if we could just figure it out without interruption. She then sent someone else over. About 30 seconds later. I was so annoyed! Even if you're trying to turn the table, let someone THINK for goodness sake! Especially after being asked. Firangi has the food down. Great job on that. But get the service aspect together, please, owners. You have a good thing. Don't let poor service be your downfall. read more

I was really fascinated by the menu of Firangi when I saw it online and I ordered Hare Patey Ki Tokri Chaat and fire chicken. Tokri chaat was good but the Fire chicken was worst I ever had. Thought we'd grab a quick bite to eat before heading over to the movie theatre and boy, we didn't want to leave! Their version of "chaat", a south Asian street food staple, did not sound appetizing in the description on the menu but when it came, it was delicious! We also ordered their Pao Bhaji which came with yummiest buns! The paratas look more like naan but both plain and the onion chilli paratas were perfect with their chai. The restaurant is millennial style trendy, with funky artwork and an interesting bar. The service was quick and our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and helpful in helping us choose our food. When we didn't like the kind of chai she brought, she was quick to offer to make another batch of chai more to our liking. It is quite out of my way but I will definitely be going back to try more things on the menu. Oh and it's halal :) read more

Surprisingly great! I always worry when restaurants try to fusion up Indian food.. Usually it just turns out bland and weird. But Firangi has figured out a great balance. Most of these appetizers ate fusion.. But curries and mains look and taste super authentic. The ambience is probably the best part. Finally you can dress up go out to celebrate something with Indian food that's not in a dingy unattractive restaurant. Service was good as well. A little off here and there with the water and plates but overall the evening went smooth. And omg. That rasmalai tiramisu looked like a piece of heaven. Upon walking in, you'll notice that the decor in the main dining area is top notch. Nice brown and gold colour palette and interesting furniture. Their open kitchen at the back provides both entertainment and makes the restaurant appear bigger than it is. Unfortunately, we didn't get to sit in this room. On a weekday lunch, we were seated in the secondary dining room. The decor still followed the theme of the restaurant, but it appeared to have used a disproportionately smaller amount of the interior decor budget. Our primary complaint was that the chairs looked nice, but weren't comfortable to sit on. The backrest in their booths formed an acute angle, making leaning back awkward. We spent a couple minutes viewing the menu with our server attentively answering any questions we had. We were particularly curious about their tiffins, which we were told were sorta like lunchboxes that were stacked container on container and brought to work for lunch. I ended up ordering their lamb tiffin. At $16, it came with a container of lamb curry, basmati rice, dal, and a pea and potato curry. It also came with an order of naan. We were given a basket of papadum to eat while we waited for our orders to arrive. The food came in a reasonable amount of time. It was definitely a complete meal. the tiffin was about a foot tall, and once I emptied out its contents onto my plate, the food stacked at least a couple inches high. The naan was fresh and tasty. The three curries provided variety and there was a decent amount of lamb included. The meat was tender and cooked well. I was satisfied with my meal, and the service was attentive with not many complaints. My only recommendation is to have a more robust communication system between servers. At least 3 different waiters came by asking us if we wanted our bill at the end of our meal. Other than that, my first visit to Firangi was quite pleasant. I'll be back. read more

Unfortunately did not live up to the expectation. I am not an avid reviewer. However, this experience left me no choice. My friends have visited this place before and gave me a good review, which made me decide to have a night out with family. Considering this we made a reservation and were told that we had a reservation for 8 people in a cozy atmosphere. Upon reaching, we found the ether air conditioning was down and asked the server what the issue was, we were told that it wasn't working. Rest we ordered the food, small portions , cold and dry. I have been to a lot of Indian places. This one probably the worst. The server was nice and quite polite and did everything the best he could do to give us the best experience. He was also quite apologetic about the issues that we faced. I don't think the service was the issue. But the food was just not up to the mark for what we paid for. On top they charged gratuity for 8 or more people, with no where mention on the menu or on the website. May be I was having a bad day. Fantastic restobar. I see some divergent reviews. I think that's harsh. This is a great place and serves good Indian food. The food is well presented and the portions are decent. It's not your run of the mill Indian restaurant and that what is charming. We had booked a table for 12 and it was a bit challenging to accommodate us with the seating being what it is. However Ali managed things so well. He was on top of the ordering and did portion control for us. The choices were on point and the dishes kept streaming in. The choice of beverages was perfect. Everyone had such a great time. It was a work croud with the significant others so it was important that everyone enjoys the evening. Thanks to Ali and his team, we all had a great time. Negatives: - Portion sizes a bit on the small side considering the per entree price. - Server didn't understand family style dining and brought out each tiny plate 1 by 1 for a table of 8. It honestly looks really stupid to put down a tiny dish with 3 pieces in the middle of a table of 8 people when they have ordered a variety of appetizers. - Server DID NOT inform me that the gratuity was included (17%). I loved the ambiance and was very pleased with the friendly service. the cocktails were good (i was a fan of the tamarind & tequila one), and the food was delicious & well presented. so many good options on the menu, that we had to go with a meat platter appetizer. everything from the lamb chops to the tandoori chicken was good. some dishes were on the saltier side, but nothing that couldn't be toned down with a bite of the hot butter naan. others on the table tried everything from the cauliflower to the jackfruit and biryani.. i heard no complaints! the desserts though unique sounding, tasted not so unique - the gajar halwa cheesecake for instance, tasted like good ol cheesecake, and not so much like gajar halwa. the faluda and kulfis were as expected :) While our experience was mostly good, the only negatives were probably that the dining room got real smoky from all the tandoori dishes being ordered, and we walked out smelling like indian food - though to be fair, that's usually impossible to avoid if you're going to eat at an Indian restaurant! read more
