cup of tea and a teapot on a table

Cute place in ballentyne area. Parking is hard to find during meal hours, but there is a parking building behind Marriott hotel (need a bit walk). Somehow my reservation did not kick into the system, but the server took me and my friend in a nice manner. Menu was digital on a tablet, and there was a great selection of drinks. The mini size fillet mignon was impressive. 4oz was a good portion to share between the two of us and allowed us to order some more to taste. Besides us, there were several parties of ladies as well. Cool place to have conversations and enjoy a slow meal!

Okay, parking is very hard to find because it's in that common area with black Finn and hestia. So parking is limited in front of the restaurant but you can always park on the back of the building and or the parking deck. It wasn't as busy when we arrive on a Friday night around 7:30. Staff was nice and greetful. The interior is nice and especially the bathroom, it's picture perfect spot and very pretty and gorgeous lighting so you can get the perfect selfie. The only downfall is it's a one stall so waiting can be a while. We ordered the salmon which was decent but more so on the salter side. The pork belly was really good and sweet but the queso fundido was not my cup of tea. The queso inside wasn't the greatest and it wasn't what I was expecting. The drinks were strong, not my style but gotta drink what's the price is. I swear the Mexican maritini was straight up liquor. We also got the pretty in pink which was accompany by the fire among other drinks that I don't remember the name. Service was decent. Waiter was nice but didn't give us much attention due to attending to other tables. We were celebrating a bday so it was nice to give us a free crème brûlée. It was delicious. I like this place but I wouldn't bother to come again for the food. Also, their menu is smaller when it comes to their entree, they didn't have much to choose from as well as the menu all together itself is pretty small compared to other places.

Here for afternoon drinks and desserts for a birthday, those didn't disappoint at all! Couldn't quite figure out the vibe was in this place, kinda old school decor but 80's music, but anyway! We were here during brunch and dinner so place wasn't busy at all. But we had a great table and the service was great. We got all the desserts they had! Macarons, cheesecake, creme brûlée and chocolate bombe! All of them fabulous, chocolate one being my favorite. Very well presented as well, berries and chocolate drizzle ! The drinks well one they are kinda pricey! The one cocktail my friend had was $20! The ingredients were not that unusual to warrant that price honestly, plus it came in a different glass to how pictured and was a bit watery. Kinda disappointed in that one. Others had wine and bubbles which were fine. 3 of us had the Espresso martinis and those were amazing! And pretty good price for $16! They had the glasses frosted and had their own alcohol infused cream foam . Plus they used rum as well as vodka, it was a really good take on the original. Just different and really good and not sweet. We also added grand marnier, that gave us the subtle orange taste! I have to say the bar tender was very cool and gave us all the ingredients she used as the martini was so good, she was fabulous. I would say though they need do need to finesse their drinks, there was no garnishes on any of the drinks, which a good bar has to have these days. Coffee beans on a espresso martini! Dehydrated fruit for the cocktails. You have to make them look good! Love to try their afternoon tea someday! Definitely having that martini again as well. They are definitely trying here, worth a try.

I absolutely love ordering tapas with large groups. The service was impeccable, and for a Friday night, it wasn't overly crowded or loud. The short ribs were tender with a slight hint of spice. Brussels Sprouts, although they weren't crunchy, they were cooked well and had a great sweet and savory flavor. The crunchness of the almonds were a great touch. Simple yet delicious cesar salad with crouton and Ib added the bacon. Oh, and the potatoes were cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside with the tenders on the inside. Great spot for small or large groups.

My husband and I had such a great time here during Queens Feast/Restaurant Week! We had made a reservation and were seated promptly. The manager actually sat us, and proceeded to tell us about other events coming to the restaurant. They've only been open for about 8 months, so it was very nice to hear! Our waitress was super nice, and she took our drink and food orders quickly. We loved the Rioja wine we ordered! All of the food was delicious, and it came out hot! The papas bravas were amazing, and I loved the Brussel sprouts with the bacon and cheese! The our entrees came, and my shrimp were cooked very nicely with the au gratin. I enjoyed the bread with it. We split the desserts, and loved both of them. We will definitely be coming back here for another date night soon!

Hibiscus Margarita

Tonight was my friend's birthday so I wanted to take her here to try a few things! The restaurant was romantic and the live musician was very talented. We all enjoyed our drinks. I had the Hibiscus Margarita and my friend had a Smokey Old Fashioned that was delivered right out of a smoke box! We ate the ceviche, crab cakes, and bone marrow. Everything tasted great and our service from Darius was fantastic. I guess the only feedback I could give is that it would have been nice to have more description and variety of wines since I was helping my friends try to explore more wines tonight. The wine list was easy to navigate but the per glass options were limited, so we had cocktails on their half priced wine night.

Second review was appetizers at Fiore, also in Ballantyne, and a short walk from Zinicola. Loved the floors, the interior was really cool. Loved the decor/colors. Do wish the lights they have over the tables were dimmable because they tend to be quite bright. Focused lighting which is great, but depending on how you sit can be bright. The music was not a match for the restaurant, that is probably the only thing I would change. Service was friendly, attentive, and quick. What was different: the menu is on an iPad at the table. It's a little tricky to navigate but no big deal. Portions were a mix. The pork belly? Even for just a taste was too small BUT loved the flavor and texture! Definitely worth a try. The Brussels, very generous portion, great flavors for sure - but they needed to be more tender. I might be an anomaly, but I don't like hard brussels sprouts. I wonder if perhaps they shaved or chopped the Brussels if that would be all that was needed? But again, the flavors were wonderful and the portion was spot on, very generous. Note: out of all the restaurants I've been to in the past couple of years? Dresslers still has my absolute favorite Brussel sprouts in the world (other than mine, of course.) Loved the beef, boneless, short ribs. While only four? For an appetizer we felt it was a good size for two people. We will definitely be back to try full dishes, but it is a little pricier, and the portions not quite as generous as Zinicola. Our waitress was Shannon and she was wonderful. As you can see from the pictures there's a bar in the back and there is dessert counter in front. Would love to know if others have tried this place yet and what your thoughts were/what your favorite dish is. I do not believe they had nonalcoholic beer, and we did get a bottle of Pellegrino, which was a nice treat versus plain water. While it's nowhere near as expensive as Hestia, the prices were OK. Like I said, I would add maybe four more pieces of the pork belly to the appetizer portion for two people, in our opinion. Note: it was one of our favorite dishes!

Went to Fiore on a Friday night with the girls to celebrate our friends birthday. Super cute place. They had me with the live music. Loved the atmosphere. We had a reservation and were seated within two minutes. Staff is friendly and attentive. Water's stayed full and drinks were steady flowing. There were a couple hiccups with one drink and one of our food orders but nothing to make a big fuss about. Manager came around to check on us several times and was super friendly. We ordered several dishes. Food - Charcuterie for two: decent board. My favorite thing on the board was the pickled fig. - Ceasar salad: nice and fresh. Smokey flavor added a different element to the salad. - Ribeye: perfect medium. Great flavor, nice and juicy. - Sea scallops: - Bone Marrow: was really surprised they had this on the menu, so of course we had to order it. But, not really enough flavor. - Grilled Octopus: good flavor but I'm a big texture person so, too soft for my taste. The arugula w/whatever sauce (dressing) that it was served with was really good. - Brussel sprouts: they were okay. They just weren't crispy enough for me (again texture) BUT the flavor was good. The bacon had me though. - Crème brûlée: light and flavorful (I was about 5/6 drinks in when we had dessert) - Cheesecake: Drinks - Old Fashion: too smoky for my palette. Almost tasted like how a fire pit smells. Love a good fire but don't want the taste in my mouth. (Not pictured because it would only allow 10 pics) - The One Drink to Rule Them All: dangerous. Super refreshing and tastes great. This would be perfect on a hot day, boating on the lake. - The Drink Who Shall Not be Named: not for me. Tastes like black liquorish and peppermint. - Pretty in Pink: Such a good drink. Think I had 3 or 4 of these Overall, would definitely go back.

Sea Scallops

Came here for date night after seeing a Facebook ad for Valentine's Day Specials. We were looking for an intimate, sexy vibe. As we walked in, we were greeted by a hostess and live music. The decor was dark and cozy. Our menus were iPads that were fresh - didn't seem thoroughly worn. Docked one point because for a place that advertises as date night, lounge, cocktail bar, tapas, they really need to invest in a good sommelier. They had 1or 2 varietals for wine and the descriptions of each were lacking luster. For those complaining about the portion sizes must not go to uptown frequently. The tapas and entrees will rival the pricing of any tapas bar in Charlotte. Same with the wine (for those that don't know, there's a minimum mark up of 150% for wine. So yes, expect to pay $30-50 for a $15 bottle of wine you can get at Publix). Now that is all out the way - the food! We started off with the papas bravas ($14), beef carpaccio ($19), and grilled octopus ($18). Everything was fresh and warm! The shaved fennel really set off the carpaccio's flavor. The octopus was tender and flavorful. The papas bravas sauce was very similar to what we would have in Spain, blending the aioli with the tomato spread instead of having them separate. My husband got the duck ($27) which was tender and juicy. It was paired with a roasted beet salad (available as an entree) and the papas bravas without the brava sauce. I got the scallops ($35) over butternut squash purée with kale. I loved the pairing and flavor profile of the scallops. They were smaller sea scallops for the price but it could be time of year for availability. We ended our night with the chocolate bomb ($12)- a chocolate mousse atop a devils food cake and chocolate ganache. The dessert was rich and denser than most I have had but hit the sweet spot for us. Our server, Jake, was attentive and gave great recommendations. The live music was a blend of 80-90's soft rock. I'd love to see jazz or blues nights (or even a jazz brunch!!)

Very cool boujeee place. Very pricey. The wine we got as a table was $57 which was a $19 bottle but you pay for the environment. The food was absolutely amazing everything ordered was great. The chef even came out to talk. Our waiter was amazing!!!! As well as all the staff except the owner. The owner was not very nice man. Other than the owner Everything else was great!

Fiore Charcuterie board

I stumbled upon Fiore on Friday night while I was walking around Ballantyne Village. Little did I know, Friday night was the first night they were open to the public! My boyfriend and I decided to check it out and share a few appetisers and a bottle of wine. The atmosphere was nice- there weren't too many people in the restaurant. The servers were there to answer any questions we had and also provide us with recommendations. Pros: The restaurant was clean, staff was friendly. The lounge had a romantic, intimate ambience. The crispy pork belly was delicious. I wish it had more fat, but the seasoning was divine! The chef came to our table to make sure everything was excellent and we provided him with our honest feedback. He seemed to care about what we had to say and said that he would be taking our feedback into consideration as he continues to develop the menu. Cons: The charcuterie board was underwhelming. I did not feel like we got a good mix of meat/cheeses for the price. The menu also stated that the board would have seasonal fruit (which we were excited about), and it only had grapes in it. We are accustomed to more fruits and nuts on the board for more variety. The staff was attentive, however it was to the point where they were hovering over us, which did not allow for a pleasant dining experience. I understand that since it was opening night, they wanted everything to be perfect, however I recommend that servers/family members allow the guests more time to enjoy the company they came with. Overall, I think I will try Fiore again after they are open for a bit. This would be a great place for a girls night or an intimidate date with your loved one.

We would check every time we made our way back home, but they are always BOOKED & BUSY!!!! I'm telling you book ahead of time. Upon arrival, we walk into the front lobby entrance, immediately greeted by the concierge. She directs us to the spa area. We walk inside and the aromatherapy alone just soothes my spirit wholeheartedly. They give a warm welcome and checks us in right away. No time is wasted at all! They give us instructions that we follow accordingly. We go to our separate areas to change out into our spa attire. Again, greeted respectfully and given any and everything we would need for our day of rejuvenation. The entire facility was very clean and organized. Not one thing was out of place! The bathrooms had complimentary hygienes, etc for use. The service requested was the 80 minutes couples massage! Our service was scheduled later on in the evening, but we decided to come hours earlier to enjoy all the complimentary areas in the spa such as the steam rooms, saunas, workout room, whirlpools, pools, patio areas w/ mimosas, etc. If you're going to have a spa day why not experience everything? We ended up on the patio first to have our first complimentary beverage. We sat outside and enjoyed the exquisite views for a while before heading to the jacuzzi for a dip! After 2-3 whirlpool sessions we laid out in the beach chairs inside and ordered food from the Gallery(this is an option that the spa provides all guests). All the workers were spectacular. Any worker that came by they would ask did we need anything and constantly asking would you like a complimentary beverage! Heyyyyyy, why not? Couples Massage: 1000/10 literally! I truly enjoyed the massage thoroughly. The ladies we were given were fabulous. They did exactly what needed to be done! They weren't shy to the touch like some massage therapist are. They were focused and had all their equipment ready to go from the very beginning. We Weill be booking here each and every time we plan a trip home. We are forever clients.

Not planning on returning unless for tea or brunch at gallery. I've now stayed here twice within 10 months. Both times I've found the staff quite kind and helpful. The rooms clean and as depicted. Hotel and grounds very well maintained. Love the walkability to restaurants and bars. Room Beds are not up to a luxury hotel standards. I found both beds to be a springy mattress with a worn out pillow top. Quite literally a pain on the back. Bedding is Frette and quite soft and cozy. Bathroom has Molton Brown products. Super bougie brand so I think that is on par with the hotel being luxury. I bring my own shampoo and conditioner because of my 3A curly hair doesn't get along with the shampoo and conditioner. Both the water pressure and hot levels are exceptional. I was not lacking warm water and did actually turn it a bit cooler than my usual setting at home. So I've a bit of a bone to pick on the minibar. There is a listed price for all the items. Great! Was a bit surprised on the bill to find the $3 can of soda and $18 container of dark sea salt chocolates to be listed as $3.99 and $22.41. That's more than the sales tax in Mecklenburg. Upon reading the fine print on the minibar there is a 24% service fee on top of the 8.25% sales tax. Given that the minibar is stocked and no one is running this items to the room like room service, I'm a bit confused on the service charge as anything but a small additional little money grab. Little sneaky and tacky vibes about it. Gallery restaurant I have written a separate 5 star review and very much so like the restaurant. Afternoon tea Afternoon tea I absolutely love and greatly enjoy. Lovely tea and tiered plate selections. This is a must for me, absolutely love it. I've attended with my partner as well as solo. Solo I sat and read a book it was great! Even if traveling solo still a lovely nice experience! Parking I think the price of parking has changed. It is now $20 to self park and $30 to valet. This is all clear on the app and website before booking. Spouse was understandably less than thrilled when he walked out to the car with all our luggage, loaded the car and began to drive to the hotel to pick me up only to be locked into the parking lot. The room key card that opens this parking was deactivated apparently at check out time. Well no one wants to be schlepping around in muggy hot weather at noon to come back to the hotel and find out why it isn't working. He had to have the card reactivated, then walk back to the car, then bring the car up. Waste of time and irritation. Hotel common space I found all common and public spaces clean and tidy. Both elevators have been working, in good service and clean. There is a complimentary coffee and tea station in the bar space in the morning. They also have some grab and go items for purchase. I made tea and drank it on the veranda. None of the grab and go items spoke to me so I went to the gallery restaurant. Spa I've been to the spa last trip and enjoyed my facial and massage. Mani pedi was ok... women's spa space has a sauna and steam room. A quiet waiting area with teas and water. Showers, restrooms and a locker space. Indoor pool Love that they have an indoor and outdoor pool. Super easy for me to get burned so I use the indoor ones. The interior space is quite lovely at the interior pool. A few notes of items needing attention. The rectangular hot tub has quite a thick layer of scrum on the tiles above the water level. Requested additional pillows when checking in ahead of time on the app. Those were not in the room and I had to request them. If you want a tea kettle in room you've to request that and tea. Wish it was easier in app or pre check in to do. I am not sure that we will be back anytime soon as I don't find their beds comfy and relaxing. Hotel, amenities, afternoon tea and brunch overall I like. I wish they would join other properties that had a memory foam type bed with a more firm supportive with slats. Rather than springy mattress on a box spring.

Napa Bistro & Wine Bar - Stonecrest

Before I get into the food coma portion of this review, I want to set the tone…read more I'm a big believer in giving restaurants real, honest feedback. Not Yelp-warrior nonsense. Actual constructive feedback. This industry is brutal. No one opens a restaurant hoping to disappoint people. I also live by the phrase "don't knock it until you've tried it." If a first visit doesn't hit my expectations, I'll give a place one more shot before forming a solid opinion. That feels fair to me. Some may disagree. To each their own. This is where Napa comes in. I admin a very large, very active, highly curated Charlotte Facebook group called Charlotte Foodies. Napa kept popping up in posts with glowing praise. A couple of friends and I were indecisive on where to eat one night and made a last-minute call to check it out. Our first visit, if I'm being honest, was a letdown. The dishes were beautifully plated and the service was wonderful, but the flavors felt dull. Safe. Muted. We left disappointed. I considered writing about it but stopped myself. One visit isn't a verdict. We didn't reach out to management because we hoped it was just an off night and planned to give them another shot. Then the universe did its thing. I connected with someone closer to Napa's management team. After hearing about my experience, they asked for honest feedback. I gave it. No sugarcoating. Just constructive criticism. To their credit, management was receptive and invited me back to try their newly launched menu to show that what I experienced was not their standard. I'm really glad I went back. Because Napa at Stonecrest absolutely redeemed themselves. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Warm woods, deep green banquettes, soft lighting, and oversized fabric pendant lights that somehow make everyone look better than when they walked in. Cozy without being cramped and energetic without being loud. You sit down and instantly feel relaxed. This time around, we told our server to let the GM drive and bring out what best showcases Napa right now. Risky move. Correct move. We started with the bacon flatbread. Soft but sturdy crust that holds up to the toppings, a respectable amount of mozzarella, big bacon lardons that actually taste like bacon, pearl onions that stay sweet and restrained, and the perfect amount of hot honey for heat and balance. Nothing overpowered anything else. The ahi tuna tartare was one of the better versions I've had in Charlotte. Huge portion for the value with clean, precise knife work. The avocado purée with citrus vinaigrette complemented the chilled tuna without overpowering it. The house-fried wonton chips were light and not greasy. We ran out of chips and I shamelessly spooned the remaining tuna straight into my mouth. The herb whipped goat cheese nailed it. We've tried a lot of whipped cheese dips around town and many miss the mark. This one was creamy, thick, and balanced, not soupy or overworked. The herbs, hot honey, and spiced almonds all played nicely together, and the crispy crostini were the perfect vehicle. Easily shareable for a table of three and would make a great weekday lunch paired with the tuna tartare. For entrées, the crusted halibut was perfectly seasoned with a beautiful crust. It almost ate like a pan-seared chicken breast until it flaked and reminded you it was fish. Creamy risotto underneath gave sophisticated mac-and-cheese vibes, with blistered pearl onions, roasted carrots, and a drizzle of olive oil tying it all together. The mushroom sugo pappardelle, which is gluten-free and vegetarian, was the most talked-about dish of the night. Deep, layered flavor with incredible balance. The marsala sauce had real depth and a gentle peppery warmth. One of my dining partners normally avoids mushrooms and said he would absolutely order this again and recommend it. The Napa fried chicken delivered. Perfectly crispy but still light, juicy inside with just the right seasoning. Smooth garlic mashed potatoes underneath and a tasso gravy that was salty, savory, and slightly spicy. It gave elevated chicken cordon bleu vibes without the cheese. The charred broccolini was excellent on its own but even better dragged through the gravy. Dessert damage was done. All hits. No filler. The flourless three-layer chocolate mousse cake was my favorite. No question. Each layer brought a different deep chocolate texture, and the handmade whipped cream kept it from feeling heavy. Please give me another one to take home so I can maintain an emergency stash. The crème brûlée with candied pecans had a perfect crack on the sugar top, subtle sweetness underneath, silky custard, and that extra sweet crunch from the pecans. Classic and executed exactly how it should be. The apple caramel cheesecake is the cheesecake I dream about. New York-style. Ultra-creamy, no grit, no nonsense. The apple tasted like real fruit, the caramel didn't hijack the plate, and there was just enough crust to balance everything. If cheesecake is your thing, pa
