At that point, I needed a drink and so I recruited a NYC friend and uber'd to a local place open til 4am, but it was closed. We googled and mapped and walked from there to CJs. Someone was inside!!! We waved. They said they were closed. We stood on the sidewalk trying to figure out whether to try another location or to go back to the hotel and the bartender (JIMMY!!!) was headed out for the night. He asked where we were from and I said "Maine". He lit up. He let us in. It was my friend's birthday. The stars had aligned, stranded me in NYC, and sent us to CJs. The two of us and Jimmy chatted into the wee hours of the morning...we did birthday tequila, birthday coronas...birthday bud heavies. And the kitchen was closed but Jimmy shared his sandwich. There is a whole lot of love and compassion in that man and people should go to CJs just to meet him. Phenomenal birthday; phenomenal company. Two people in our party got them and both hated the fries. Chicken satay had no peanut sauce at all, just a hot chili sauce. For desert, lava cake apparently good but the apple crisp wasn't crisp at all, just a mushy oatmeal covering over cooked apples. A sad end to a meal that cost almost $360. Won't be back.

We were full by the time it came to dessert, so we didn't order anything, but menu looked tempting. While we were there we saw a ton of take-out orders being picked up, so obviously a local favorite. If we lived closer would definitely get take out from here as well.

My wife had been to Gallagher's Pub in Sea Cliff the previous night with her girlfriends and thought they had great food. We walked in to a quaint Irish pub and were greeted by Marcus. He smiled and remembered my wife from the night before. We sat down and viewed the menu. Nice selection of food and drinks. We ordered some drinks. My wife had a soda and I had Smithwick beer. A good Irish ale. We decided on the French onion soup. It was served hot and was delicious! We ate and talked and some of our friends came in and visited with them. Good times. My wife was full after the soup , so she ordered some French fries. I ordered a buffalo chicken burger with onion rings. I thought I try something different the chicken burger was great and the onion rings were perfect. We enjoy our meal and visiting with our friends. Marcus gave us a tray for our leftover with a note on the cover. See the photos. It seems Marcus adds a special note to his customers. This was a nice and unexpected surprise. We enjoyed our time at Gallagher's. The wait service was excellent, the food was great and the atmosphere was friendly. I strongly recommend Gallagher's Pub. We wanted to be able to watch the football games on Christmas Eve and there were limited places open that had NFL ticket, but the pub was one of them! There were a couple of other guests in there at the time, but not many. To our surprise, most of them were Packers fans like us! The service was speedy and helpful. The bartender gave us recommendations for apps based on our preferences and handed us a Sunday/football special menu that had both drinks and apps on it. We got the zucchini fries and loved them! They were crispy and filled with cheese. Some marinara dipping sauce on the side too. Definitely hit the spot. Would come back when in the area for a laid back game day.

No soggy sandwich here. This is a place you get to know folks as only our 4th or 5th time in and already we recognize folk. We also noticed most people were eating, not just drinking, which further ads to my thoughts and experiences so far as a fun spot and good food. Sorry, on this visit, we forgot to take pictures.
