This Irish Pub answers the question if being an Irish pub excuses it from making quesadillas with American cheese in southern Arizona. That answer is No. Finnegan's is located in a hotel at the entrance to Tucson's Airport and likely the first place a tourist or weary traveler might get to experience the cullinary delights of the region in a setting designed to evoke a Spanish villa with open plazas, foutains, and other southwestern design choices. But no. It's a pub with no real Irish, Spanish or other character. It's a cafeteria with a bar and a small menu of simple items that are priced as only a hotel pub can get away with. Because Lady Matilda and I had business at the hotel that prevented us from enjoying the many culinary destinations in Tucson, we split two appetizers. The quesadillas. The potato skins. There were "Irish Nachos" which tries to split the difference in its conflicted identity but I couldn't see where the extra $5 went to go from "skins" to "nachos" on the menu. Another diner made an excellent point that Finnegan's made the dish the way an Irish chef might. We were there on a Friday night during a convention of relic traders and scheduled for various conferences along with a hundred others, so we were all leaning on Finnegan's for our dinner before the night's invocation and celebrations. Our party of two lost most of the interest of the servers when we ordered only appetizers and non-alcoholic drinks. The quesadillas were about as good as I could make them with just those basic store-bought ingredients. The potato skins were best praised by their plating. Both felt like how a business hotel serves a "hot breakfast" bar with pre-fab food but for prices you'd fine at the finer establishments in town. Lady Matilda's toasted cheese tostitas cost as much as the excellent hand made cheese and shredded beef tortillas I had the night before 40 minutes away. The difference is that the former charged because they could and the latter because they cared. My advice would be to pick an identity. Go Irish or don't. Pick an identity and then develop a menu that works well with it. read more

It's a disgusting soup like mixture called "Steak Alfredo". Obviously the (I'm going to call him a Waffle House cook) thinks this is Alfredo. Some penne pasta with 4 grape tomatoes, wilted spinach and 4 slivers of strip steak for $28. No bread and a $6 side salad fresh out of a bag. I made the mistake of booking the attachment hotel with stained furniture and the inability to control your heat or AC in your own room. They suggest you borrow a Fan from the front desk. Funny part is there is a sticker on the box fan that says a $250 fine if it's not returned. Freaking hilarious!! Stay across the street and ignore this shamble. read more

Wow--what an unexpected culinary delight! Hands down, this was the best eggs and sausage breakfast I've ever had at a hotel--and honestly, one of the best I've had anywhere. If I lived nearby, this would be my go-to spot for breakfast without hesitation. My wife and I had the pleasure of enjoying breakfast here on July 25th, and we're still talking about it. The eggs were cooked to perfection--light, fluffy, and bursting with flavor. The sausage? Absolutely unforgettable. Perfectly seasoned, juicy, and so rich in flavor that I can still taste them now. That kind of craftsmanship is rare. To round it out, the meal also came with crispy hash browns and golden toast--all included as a complimentary breakfast. That kind of quality, and that kind of hospitality? Incredible. Whoever was in the kitchen that morning deserves serious recognition. That was the work of a true chef. We drove in from the L.A. area on 7/31/22 to a hotel near Finnegan's Pub. At first, Finnegan's looked closed due to a flash flood storm that was occurring. Thank goodness they weren't because my brother and I who were driving separate vehicles just wanted some good brew and hot food after an approximate 9-hour drive. We ordered the following: Irish nachos = $12 (good, but needed way more cheese) Steak fettuccine Alfredo = $19 (very tender steak) Pasta alla vodka (with sausage) = $17 (good flavor, my 7-year-old's choice!) Steak salad = $19 (mostly fresh salad with steak chunks... I'd probably order it again because it was not typical bar fare) Sirloin = $25 (my brother's choice, he said it was alright) Dragoon son amber = $7 Barrio Tucson blonde = $7 The service, while friendly, was slow considering the dining room was at a 1/4 capacity. WOW...What a gem in the middle of this dump of a hotel lol...we called ahead at 5 to ask about dining here. The lady on the phone made it seem like we had to have a reservation and said only two tables were left at 7ish. Made our reservation. Upon arrival I was scared as we entered the bar area and only 2 people were here and plenty of tables (only reason it's not a 5 star review, no reservation was necessary during this weekend). Bar tender was super on point, super friendly, and very helpful. Andy was a perfect host, bartender, and waiter all in one. The food was AWESOME...the jalapeño mozzarella sticks were a perfect blend of cheese and spicy in one...so damn good. The Flatbread Buffalo Chicken was great, the blue cheese, Buffalo sauce, and celery was a perfect. The wife's Mediterranean Chicken Pasta was cooked perfect and tasted great. And we ended the night with the Mud Pie and it was awesome as well. The nightlife and friendly customers and helpful staff made the night a great time. Typical restaurant and bar connected to a hotel. Average food and mediocre service. We came here a few times during our 7 day stay during flight training because it's very convenient and the food arrived fast. I tried the fish and chips as well as the fish tacos. My colleague had the chicken, sliders, and Shepard's Pie. The chicken was his favorite of the three but he also agreed that it was average at best. The younger bartender definitely has an attitude but she thinks she's funny. She gets the job done but I wouldn't say she made our experience enjoyable. You could see her lipping off about customers as she turned her back to pour their drink. We had to ask for drinks, menus, refills, you name it. The last night, we had an older lady behind the bar and she was fantastic. While she didn't make the food any better, she made our experience more enjoyable. Overall, I'm sure we will be back the next time we come to training. Just remember, there is a reason they give you a free drink coupon when you check into the hotel. read more

Look, it's an airport hotel's in-house restaurant. For what it is, it satisfies. It's all basic pub food: burgers, flatbreads, a couple salads, fish and chips, tacos, a pasta dish, a steak entree, a chicken entree...you get the drill. A fairly loud bunch of people were at this bar when I arrived. The female bartender even got stiffed from some out of towners. Bottled beers were $5.46 each and I did order some food to go. The burger was cooked to my style and contained brown sugar bacon and blue cheese. It was average. It was St. Patrick's Day. Six of us were dressed in green and hoping to find some good corned beef and cabbage. Isn't that usually the most popular dish at Irish restaurants? Well, we found one close and we all ended up at Finnegan's Pub which is located in the Double Tree Hotel. We were afraid this would be a popular night and the restaurant would be full. It wasn't. After reading all the reviews, I discovered there weren't too many great reviews. Oh well .... we've been there and done that now and there's little chance we would return. Five of us ordered the corned beef and cabbage special. We've had plenty of corned beef at many Irish restaurants in the past plus cooked our own. It's one of our favorite Irish dinners. The corned beef has been almost always cut thicker, more on your plate, juicy and delicious. I've got to say this was absolutely the worst corned beef my husband and I have ever had. I thought the carrots, potatoes and cabbage were very good. However, the corned beef was skimpy, cold, over cooked, dry and nearly tasteless. It was cut about as thick as a piece of paper. Thus, with it being so thin, there was no flavor left in it. However, we did ask for a couple doggie bags and our dog liked it just fine. read more

Stopped in late as I was staying at the hotel with this restaurant attached and I was hungry and thought maybe I'll grab some food and a beer. The young lady that was waiting tables was very quick and attentive to all the guests. She was very good and remembered several orders when multiple tables came in. I ordered a grilled chicken southwest salad. It came out quickly and was fresh. The chicken was chargrilled and had a lot of flavor. The entire salad was awesome and had fresh avocado. The place was clean as far as I could tell and had an excellent beer, wine and cocktail menu and bar. For a airport hotel restaurant it was pre darned good! The hubs ordered Shepard's Pie and LOVED it! He enjoyed that it was beef brisket and not hamburger, so much more authentic that way. He was very pleased. I had the BALT (Bacon, Avocado, Lettuce, Tomato), it was SO good. Loads of bacon! I highly suggest it. I had a draft beer. I don't know what it is about this state but I swear we can't get a properly cooled and poured draft. Zero head and it was def not quite cold enough. This is the restaurant that the Double Tree next door uses for their breakfast buffet in the mornings. We walked in and found a less than friendly hostess. She complained about being called in early and was so tired. What??? There were no clean tables so we had to wait for a busboy to clean one. This is a serve yourself buffet so we thought we would get a cup of coffee and enjoy before getting our meal. We sat for a few minutes and all of a sudden an entire college baseball team of about 30 entered and descended on the buffet. You can imagine what college age boys can do to a buffet. Within minutes all the food was gone and the servers had to scramble to refill everything. As fast as they filled it the boys would empty it. By the time they all went through the line there were only slim pickens left. My wife had to settle for some toast with a few sausages and I got a few sausages and some scrambled eggs scraps. I am sure the hotel knew the night before that they were going to have a crowd for breakfast so I don't know why they could not have had more food prepared. Appears to be poor management here. Located within a doubletree hotel near the Tucson airport, I came here to grab a drink or two as one drink ticket was included to my room rate. This complimentary drink coupon is good for basic drink such as house wine and well drink. One dollar more, you could upgrade to premium drink. "Premium" sounds fancy but not really that good. I tried their premium red wine but it wasn't enjoyable. While sitting at the bar, I saw a ketel one bottle, so I asked a friendly bartender to make me simple vodka martini to get rid of bad wine taste. It worked. Ambiance is questionable. Not sure how to describe, when I walked in, I almost walked out without getting any drinks. Best way to describe is simple? The waiter took 20 minutes to seat us and gave my husband and I only one menu. Then the waiter took another 30 minutes to take our order then walked away from us as we were ordering. When we finally got our drinks they were nothing but ice. My glass had more ice than drink. The ice was overflowing the glass. I had an Arizona Sunset and I drank it all in three sips. Our meals took over an hour to arrive and when they came everything was burnt. I had flat bread pizza and the entire bottom crust was burnt. My husbands Farm Burger was burnt and the onion straws were stale and the fries were on the raw side. When the waiter brought us the check he just threw the bill on the table when he delivered everyone else's in a check folder. From the time we walked in to the time we walked out it was well over 2 hours. We just arrived from Minnesota for the gem show and decided to eat at here again. When we were here last year this place was great. Now this place is crappy and it really went down hill. I will never come back nor will I recommend this place to anyone. Good riddance!!!! read more
