Just received the worst manicure I've ever gotten in SF and I've lived here 13 years. Nails were filed all misshapen, gel was sloppily applied -- I have just as much on my skin as I do on my nails -- and I didn't see any cleaning of tools. I never give feedback and had to ask that she correct mistakes, which didn't help the situation. I just spent 20 mins scraping off the excess myself at home which is not what you should have to do after spending $35! Wishing I hadn't spent my money or time here :( read more

Perhaps the worst manicure I've ever received. I could have done a better job painting my own nails, polish all over my fingers yet, it missed some of my nails. When I asked the nail tech if she could please fix it, she gave me the brush and acetone and walked away. There are so many nail options in the area, I should have known this place was going to be bad since it was empty. Save your money and go elsewhere! Take a look for yourself. They do everything you hope a nail salon wouldn't do : - cuticle scissor that clearly isn't sanitized between use - old, almost-solid base coat - technician who can't see - and it shows in the work she did - nail that is very much uneven and weirdly shaped - all different from each other - almost no cuticle removal, but more of wave of hand with tool as more of a 'i did this step' - splotchy, patchy manicure job that looks like it was done by a 5 year old - attempt to cover the said shitty job by piling on more polish on top of that - frowning and puffing at me after I didn't understand what she was saying It was so bad that I had to ask them to remove it - that was the WORST manicure I've had in my entire life, including the ones I did myself as a teenager They still had the audacity to charge me $7 for uneven nails and 45min down the drain Avoid at all costs. Such a great experience at The Finishing Touch. I had a mani-pedi with gel polish, and the ladies did a terrific job.

Not so great. I really wanted to give this place a good review - it's run by 3 older women and they seem friendly. Unfortunately in my experience everything was subpar. First - they advertise their manicure / pedicure as being $26 but in reality they automatically up sell you to $30. Then, they push 'extra massage'. At $10 for 10 minutes it's not really egregious- but worth noting. Overall the quality of the mani / pedi is quite poor as well. My cuticles were left with bits of paint on them, the edges of my nails were ragged, and they really don't look much better than if I did them myself. Finally-- what really got me is although they advertise taking credit cards, when I went to pay they (unfortunately there is a pretty substantial language barrier) kept saying cash is better. First off, this is where I found out the automatic up charge to a 'spa' mani pedi. Which was irritating. But then when I said I didn't have enough cash, protested the up charge, and pointed to the multiple signs out front that say they take credit card, they just stared. They then tried to tell me to go to the ATM at the Marina deli, which i refused to do, and said I would go to Bank of America. As I started walking I noticed one of the shop ladies started following me. I stopped and turned around to tell her I would be going to Bank of America and she said 'I will go with you'. While I ultimately paid $40 for a crappy manicure, a poor experience, and a lackluster salon--- I'm hopeful that others on Yelp will learn from my experience and not be lured in by false advertising. read more

I was in there today and I just happened to be walking by so I stopped for a pedicure. It was a chill Sunday so they fit me right in. They offered me a massage, which was really nice and they are so sweet and thorough. During the time I was there, a couple of teenagers came in and asked for 6 pedicures at 3 pm (it was about 20 mins prior). They didn't say anything about time constraints and they were talking really fast so I am not sure it was very clear what they wanted. Eventually--they came back with two older women, one was the mom. The ladies started all of their water for their pedi's and had them pick their color/get to feet soaking. They already had several clients finishing up their service so they were going to get to them. Within like 5 minutes, when their toes weren't started on right away--the two older women got kinda snippy and rude. They decided to cancel their pedicure and leave while the two younger girls were to stay and do their pedicure. They got to one of the young girls and were about 5 mins from the other one getting started before the two older women came back like they wanted to fight and decided to cancel the pedicure for the young girl that hadn't been started yet. The nail salon ladies were trying to be as nice as possible and were saying, just give us about 5 mins we are working to get to her. The random customers were just short with them and the nail ladies maintained professional composure the whole time, still being nice. One of the older ladies said, "you better be careful what you say." I was horrified at how entitled and rude these random customers were acting. They were being bullies! Her friend said outloud, "what's the name of this place? Bad Yelp review coming up!" I didn't want to make things worse by starting an argument because they were just incredibly hostile. They seem to feel very entitled that everything should be dropped to accommodate them. They didn't clearly communicate their time constraint and they just happened to be by and expect to get a pedicure right away. When the ladies accommodated them a seat, that wasn't good enough. Then they just stood there staring at them while they finished the one girl that was already doing her pedicure, and me. It made me so uncomfortable to be stared down like that. I paid and tipped them well for good service. When I come into a place, if I am on a time crunch -- I will communicate that. I won't even bother if I have very strict time issues because I wouldn't expect people to drop everything to get to me right away. I am sure they have plenty of nail salons back in their home town of Los Gatos that they could go terrorize. I felt so bad for the lovely and sweet ladies that were working and just doing a great and thorough job. They have to finish their current clients, and when you come in in a large group, often they don't just stop people that are already there before you. I was super impressed with the service and quality. I will be back. I can't believe how nice they were even though these random people felt entitled to take over a nail shop with their rudeness and hostility. I honestly wasn't surprised, one lady had on the strangest outfit I have ever seen and it looked like she had lived in a tanning bed. She was the meanest freaking lizard I have ever met. She was barely soaking her feet and complaining about a place that does her hair but they don't do a good job. Maybe it's cause your hair is already fried from too much bleach, Susan. Lol! It's like, if you are gonna be a dick everywhere you go--maybe you should stop complaining about other people and look in the mirror to make a change. Real clean, and they even have a list on the wall, keeping track of how often they sanitize their foot spas. They really take their time to do a good job -- my french mani and spa pedicure took nearly 1-1/2 hours. No blaring TV: THANK YOU!! My new fave place!...they are SO nice, and quick too!! We planned on going to another nail place around the corner, but happened to get a parking spot right in front of this one. We kinda looked in and the cute ladies came right outside and welcomed us inside. We both got a mani-pedi and had two people working on us. The ladies are from Vietnam and were really nice and thorough. My nails look amazing and the 15-minute massage for $10 was legit. Here are some of the awesome things the did and why I will always come back here; 1 - they went outside and checked the parking meter for us and even put more money in without us even asking 2 - they put my sneakers in a plastic bag so it was easier for me to carry 3 - they gave amazing massages and went over the 15 minute time frame I think this is a family run place, and even though the ladies are older (some other yelpers referenced this as a negative) I found the did an amazing job and I am all for supporting family run places as much as possible. Yesterday I was walking by Finishing Touch Nails. I was looking over their prices displayed out in the front of the nail salon. Helen, the owner, came out and I asked her a few questions. I decided to have a manicure and pedicure spa service and it was the best I ever had done! I have lived in the area for a couple decades and had a nail place I used to go to which closed around the pandemic. I was so happy to meet Helen. She was personable, fair, diligent, and meticulous with my nails. I love the spa aspect and I felt safe with her being very clean every step of the way. I highly recommend Finishing Touch Nails. I've been coming here for at least ten years and the ladies working here are just the sweetest! They pay attention to detail and I always get the Best pedicures here!! Their prices still haven't changed which surprises me especially since prices everywhere in the city have gone up. Which tells you something about the owner.. $20 for a massage chair Pedicure and $30 for Mani/pedi. First of all, I don't recommend this place. But if you DO go, make sure you get a firm confirmation on the price of your services. They were trying to add on all these fees to what was advertised on the sandwich board. Secondly, the lady that did my pedicure did so very half assed. For $35, I expect a thorough job. You'll be hard-pressed to find a cheaper nail salon in the neighborhood, because they offer $18 mani/pedis. Plus, they were able to take me as a walk-in at around 5:30 on a weekday. But...I would rather pay the extra money for another place, and this is why: 1. All the ladies here really are old, and don't do a great job that their younger counterparts can do. 2. The lady that worked on me filed my nailbeds for some odd reason, which I really didn't enjoy and thought was really weird. 3. I had an obvious blister, that I requested be avoided, but the lady kept scrubbing the area, making it worse. They're not the gentle type, here. 4. I saw the nail tech bring over her nail tools after they had JUST been used on another customer. I think she may have only stuck them in the autoclave because I was staring at her to do so. 5. The results weren't great at all. Uneven, and they didn't last too long. I've had pedicures before that have lasted MONTHS, but mine started chipping after a few weeks. Best $7 manicure ever! I stopped in here because there was no wait on a Saturday. Let's face it - dead can signify BAD, but my manicure was actually pretty fantastic and the price just can't be beat. The woman who did my nails was quiet but pleasant. She had to go back and do some cleaning up w/ nail polish remover at the end but the final product looked great. I sometimes have a tough time sitting still for a manicure or pedicure but restlessness didn't enter into the equation this time, thanks to the fact that Top Chef All Stars was playing on the TV. I'm not one to go to nails salons on the regular but, will swing by a shop every once in a while when I'm in the mood. Yesterday was one of those days and I'm glad I got a little pampering in. I was able to find a seat right away and the massage chair was fired up in no time. Two lovely women attended to my mani/pedi combo and they did a great job! So great in fact that I opted for two additional 10 min massages because they were heavenly. I broke my vow of never again straying from Silk last week when a friend brought me here with promises of a great mani/pedi for $18. I don't want to be too harsh on the ladies because they were very sweet so I'll just say it wasn't that great but for $18 I wasn't really expecting to be blown away. The salon itself was freezing and the water was barely lukewarm so the fact that they she was pretty quick about it really didn't bother me. She did a nice job with the polish which is all I really care about but the rest was meh. The thing that bothers me the most about these type of salons is that they always nickle and dime you, e.g. if you want to sit in the spa chairs it's more money, if you want a 10 minute massage it's more money, if you want them to scrape your calluses it's more money. The list goes on. The reason why Silk is the best mani/pedi spa is because you get the whole package i.e. comfy chair, warm water, clean utensils, very nice manicurists, a wonderful massage with warm lotion and a relaxing atmosphere...all for about the same price as you would get if you went to a nickle and dime salon and paid for all the add-on's. If you're in the Marina and you need a quick and cheap polish change from a nice lady then go here, but if you want the full monty Silk is where it's at! read more

I came in for a gel removal only ($8) but they kept asking me to do gel color so I gave in and had them do clear. The lady didn't speak a lick of English and took her sweet time. She didn't do a good job either. The total ended up being $18. I handed the owner a $20 and she automatically assumed I wanted the tip the lady the $2 change. I was planning on tipping her to be polite, but you should never assume the change will automatically go to lady. Probably won't go back.
