I've been coming to Cutthroat Barbershop on Washington for a couple years now, and it's become my…read morego-to spot without question. From the moment you walk in, you just know you're in a good barber's hands--and that you're going to walk out looking sharp. I've been seeing Danny for a while now, and what I appreciate most is the trust I've built with him. I'm not just coming in for the same old cut every time--I feel comfortable enough to let him do whatever he thinks will work best, whether it's a seasonal update or just something new. He's got a great eye, and I always leave looking clean and confident. The shop itself is in a super convenient location right off Washington Ave, with a solid-sized parking lot (rare in this area!). It's also right next to Catalina Coffee and Dark Horse Tavern, so whether you need a quick pick-me-up or a drink before or after your cut, it's all right there. Cutthroat even offers a complimentary drink before your service, which is a nice touch--even though I'm usually rolling in last-minute and don't take full advantage. All in all, it's a laid-back but professional spot with real barbers who know what they're doing. Highly recommend.

As others have mentioned, they are pretty rigid when it comes to tardiness so....don't be late. Just as an adult and as a general rule, don't be late. Leave early and allow for unexpected delays to arise, this is Houston after all. If you're 15 minutes early, you're on time. If you're on time, you're late. They offer free beverages to enjoy while you wait for your appointment to begin, these vary from local beer to whiskey. If you're interested, you may need to request it, not all of the receptionists proactively offer but it is included. Not a bad offering and is appreciated as these aren't the cheapest services you'll find, but they're in-line with other moderately upscale men's barbershops ($40 beard trim etc) and my experiences have always proven worth it.

Quick: first come, first serve, quick enough to be done on a lunch break, not too quick as to feel he's rushing. Affordable: I don't know about you, but I am sick of massive charges for basic haircuts. Noe has found a dedicated customer who appreciates his skill, and is happy to pay what he asks, even as the cheapo I am. Social vibe: Noe is a stunning personality. He matches personality very well, and is a the exact kind of comfortable presence you want from a barber. There are days when I have gone in grumpy, and he's been perfectly content to work in silence, and days I felt like chatting it up. Noe is a consummate professional in either circumstance.

And also no longer do the aftershave splash on the neck and behind the ear. But the trade-off is that they did two things I never expected. First, they also took care of some growing hair in and around both ears. And second, they washed my head. I think it's a good trade-off. But it is pricey here. 5 Stars Vibe: Masculine quasi-old-school-and-modern vibe. 5 Stars Overall: 5 Stars
