My four star rating is based on the following: Coffee: 5 stars Environment: 3.5 stars Value: 4 stars The first branch I went to was in Shanghai and they used milk imports from Australia. In Hong Kong they use Japanese Meiji milk. Part of the reason I was ok with the high price was the cost of the ingredients so this affected my review on the value. A latte or cappuccino will cost you 52 hkd. That is really expensive even for Hong Kong. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. That rings true for Fuel espresso. The prices are high but the coffee is really good. For milk based espresso drinks Fuel is in the conversation for the best in Hong Kong. I typically prefer a piccolo over a latte because I like to the taste of a stronger drink. This is less of an issue here and I really enjoy their full sized cappuccino drink. The addition of the chocolate powder really adds a nice touch. They also have a few pastry and cake items that you can choose from. I haven't tried any on my visit but from the appearance the cakes look very good. Fuel is a bit out of the way for me and with so many coffee choices it is easy to forget about Fuel. However, that would be a mistake. This is definitely one of the better places for coffee in Hong Kong.

TL; DR: The setting may be pretentious but the coffee is delicious…read more The coffee here is so good we ended up going twice during our week-long vacation in Hong Kong. This location is abu sleek espresso bar located in a corner of the basement shopping level at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental hotel. A short ways away from the bar is a seating area, full bar-height tables and chairs. While orders are placed at the counter, if you order in they will bring your drinks and pastries to you. One of the signature drinks is the wellington flat white, the name giving a nod to its New Zealand origins. For those that are unfamiliar with the drink, the foam is frothed to a lesser degree than for a cappuccino, and then mixed slightly into the drink, giving the top a light brown finish. The result is a creamy, rich, dark coffee flavour with hints of dark chocolate. Their roasting process has managed to coax out the maximum amount of roasted flavor without any of the acrid bitterness from charring. Definitely a wonderful introduction to the drink if you've never had it before. In addition, there's also a selection of pastries from which I ordered a pineapple cake. The cake was warm, moist, and nutty, and while it wasn't outstanding in its own right, it paired wonderfully with the flat white.

Much more here than the typical latte, cappuccino, mocha offerings. Coffee taste is a bit on the stronger side and the espresso shines as opposed to being lost in the milk. I have been here a few times now and each time the roasted they use for the pour over beans changes. They source beans from around the world so it's a good opportunity to try different roasters.

I stumbled upon this little coffee shop when I took a little stroll next to Olympian City (Yup, under the burning heat but no regret) You will not expect that you may find this place in a region where mostly every other shops on the street are rather old but that is the beauty of it. This place is really cozy and relaxing since it is not located in the most crowded street in Mongkok, there are not that many customers, which definitely makes this a perfect place for chilling. The coffee is freshly made and even though one particular coffee branch is just one block away, it tastes much better and is served by a very friendly barista. Personally, I love the taste of hazelnut and every time I go there, a good old iced hazelnut latte makes my day. It is creamy and of the right amount of milk so it is not too milky. One could argue that it's split into three sections: the front area that has the coffee, tea, and other baked goods, the middle area that has one small table and a winding stairwell to what I assumed is a stock room, and the back section that has a big rectangular table that's good for big parties. There are many bookcases, paintings, statues, and random knickknacks around to create that homey feel. Because of the unbearable temperatures, I ordered an iced flat white and it was a surprisingly large portion. Even to the very last drop, the flat white had a deliciously strong coffee flavor and was not watered down at all. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Because of the location (7ish minute walk from the C2 exit of the Prince Edward MTR station), I'm not sure I would frequent this place but if you happen to be in the area then this is definitely worth visiting.
