First off - avocado roll central. If you're allergic, skip it entirely - their standard eel roll was a little dry, pretty small, and not especially flavorful. Service was honestly a little slow considering how empty the restaurant was when we went (around 5:30 on a weeknight) and the drinks we got out of the fridge were still nearly room temperature. It's got a very date night atmosphere with soft piano music playing and very nice booths, which is a little confusing given the quality of the food! This is more of a takeout or lunch deal place than a date scene, at least for the adult crowd. It's definitely not destination sushi, but it's solid. If you're the kind of person picking up sushi from the grocery for a quick meal, this is cheaper and tastier than that. But I'd also order ahead if you have places to be. read more

After weeks of craving sushi and an especially long day at work for both my partner and I, we decided this past Friday that we would eat to our hearts' content. We called the restaurant at 8:50pm, 40 minutes before they closed, and placing our takeout order was swift and easy. They didn't ask for our name, number, or payment, which we thought was pretty weird, but maybe they could hear our hunger over the phone and knew we'd definitely show up? The restaurant's located in a small plaza on Junction Rd, along with a few other shops and restaurants. Parking was pretty easy to find at 9:15pm on a Friday during the pandemic, but I imagine it'd normally be more difficult to find parking, given that they share a parking lot with 4 other restaurants. Picking up the order went quickly too - they just finished making our last roll when we arrived through the door. There were chairs lined up along the restaurant for customers to sit and socially distance while waiting for their order. However, there was a staff member sitting near the cash register without a mask in sight, so that might defeat the purpose of adhering to COVID safety guidelines. In regards to the food, we ordered 8 rolls - 4 regular and 4 special (we were REALLY hungry). The pricing was fantastic for the quantity; pre-tip, it cost around $63! What a steal. These were the rolls we tried: The regular rolls : Yellowtail, Alaska, Shrimp Tempura, and Spicy California The special rolls: Firecracker, Spider, Snow Stone, and Out of Control In general, the rolls tasted pretty bland, and we were purposely eating the rolls in a certain order so we could taste more flavor with each type. The raw fish also didn't taste fresh; it wasn't spoiled, but I don't think either of us enjoyed any of it. Some of the special rolls were okay, particularly the Spider and Firecracker, but again, they were still pretty bland. I was hoping to drown the rolls in soy sauce and wasabi and was disappointed to see how little wasabi they provided for 8 rolls. Plenty of ginger and soy sauce though! Overall, I'd probably choose another sushi restaurant first. The price is truly fantastic here, but I was disappointed with the lack of flavor. I think I'd prefer to spend more money to get nicer sushi but would consider coming back here if I ever need a quick sushi fix on a tight budget. I'll also give them some benefit of the doubt because we ordered sushi right before they closed. read more

Very causal atmosphere at Fin Sushi. My partner used the words low key and unpretentious. I personally loved the cranes hanging above the menu station. Started with appetizers: Miso Soup and Fried Calamari. That wasn't enough so had to order some Crab Rangoon! My partner liked them all so much he didn't eat them all so some could go home. Went up to the counter to request gluten free soy sauce. The server came over to our table and walked through our whole order to make sure everything was going to be OK! Fin Sushi was a good sushi joint for the midwest, not nearly as good compared to sushi bars on either of the coasts, but then again you don't expect it to be either. We ordered a smattering of items off their menu. We started off with gyoza (pan-fried dumplings) which are tasty and not overly oily, and a great deal at 8 dumplings for $4.75! This was followed by spicy tuna, salmon avocado, out of control, and dragon rolls. The rolls overall had decent flavor. The spicy tuna roll was unfortunately underwhelming flavor-wise and the fish didn't all taste the most fresh; however, the shrimp tempura in the dragon roll was done to perfection! We got four rolls, miso soup, shrimp shumai, and the vegetable spring rolls last week. The sushi rolls were super fresh and delicious. The miso soup was good but nothing to write home about.
