This is a family-owned roaster, with a wide- variety of flavored and unflavored coffees (some of the options for flavored are wild!) as well as interesting teas. The proprietor was very knowledgeable about the blends and was able to direct me to some medium roast, low acid options. They sell beans and ground, as well as k-cups. They also sell loose tea as well as bagged tea. I confess I am also drawn to interesting names and beautiful packaging and Filthy Pirate has both. I also love that the back of the bag also talks about the flavor notes one can expect from each blend. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that they don't sell any brewed coffee (I thought from the outside this would be a cafe). I realize that's my fault for not looking online first, but still disappointing. I will be back to try some of their different blends! read more

An amazing local and veteran owned business. We love to get our coffee beans from here. The owners are very personable and it's clear that they care about their product and customer experience. It's important to note this is more of a roastery to purchase coffee beans versus a coffee shop. You can try samples of some of their products and they also carry merchandise like clothes, mugs, etc They have lots of unique flavors for coffees like: horchata, bourbon pecan and blueberry cheesecake to name a few! I also love that their coffees are low acidity. Our current household favorites are The Mutiny and Espresso blend. read more

Filthy Pirate Coffee Sangrenel Light Roast Pot Brewed .V. Espresso Maker Brewed Pot: Notes of earthy citrus that is gentle and light with a hint caramel aftertaste. perfect with a morning breakfast bagel. A very flavorful cup of coffee that I personally loved with a little splash of half and half. Espresso: Bolder more punchy notes of citrus with a mellow aftertaste. Would make a very nice caramel latte. I normally drink my coffee as espresso however with the Sangrenel Light Roast I preferred it brewed with the pot coffee maker. The flavors were easy to detect and a delight to the palette. I can imagine enjoying a cup with a friend over breakfast. Pot coffee maker won this round and it gets 5 stars! read more

This was my first time visiting Filthy Pirate and it won't be my last time. I thought it was simply coffee but it was much more than that. It was coffee galore and wonderful teas!!! The owner is so helpful. I could have stayed there chatting with a cup of coffee or tea for quite some time. I actually tried some prickly pear iced tea. What a nice blend of flavors! And, it wasn't too sweet! Support local and go check out Filthy Pirate!!! read more

BOUGHT: Sea Witch 12 oz. (Whole Bean) $16 Ship Wreck 12 oz. (Whole Bean) $14 Would recommend Whole Bean, as it made every cup as fresh as possible, and since we drink it black (and I drink it unsweetened), one can truly taste the freshly roasted bean! We tried "pour over" method, French press, and a Cuisinart Automatic Grind (with a gold-plated filter); French press and Auto Grind was best imo. Why yes, we do come from a place where coffee snobbery is encouraged! LOL! Our family loves stronger, deeper roasts -- "Ship Wreck" is an #ItalianRoast and did not disappoint (we hope to try the darker #Espresso roast soon). However, they have plenty of lighter and breakfast roasts, if that is your thing. "Sea Witch" is a flavored #PumpkinSpice coffee, and I had been deprived of that flavor over the holidays, so the description put a hankering in my system right away (plus the package design was awesome; see pics) = SOLD. "Sea Witch" is a slightly lighter roast, but the flavoring was excellent, solid medium notes, that do not overwhelm the bean. A big sell with this coffee, for myself, was the "low acid" -- I love all sorts of tea & coffee, but usually drink green tea (which is more agreeable to my body). Having once been a barista, I used to recommend Hawaiian Kona beans to those who preferred low-acid and did not think there were any alternatives! Will happily recommend Filthy Pirate too! There were no acid side effects, and nothing upset my system, after 2 cups a day of Filthy Pirate. My family had Filthy Pirate Coffee on our "to do" list for a while; we heard it talked about on #KNST radio in Tucson & The Green Line. Our budget is tight, like many, especially during Covid-19, but we wanted to do our part to support local businesses (with the bonus of supporting veterans as well) and budgeted for a little splurge. No regrets!! The free shipping meant we also bought more beans. :) And those beans were personally delivered in one day!! And an ad popped up while watching YouTube.com or it foolishly wouldn't have occured to me to check if one *could* order online (thought we'd have to wait for an in person visit...and that's gotten tricky for us). So yay! If you're stuck at home, or looking for a new brew, have a little adventure on the high seas of coffee! And know that it's good for your health, Arizona, AND the economy. read more

Filthy Pirate Coffee is an amazing Veteran owned small business. The owners are the sweetest. A must try if you are a coffee connoisseur. The coffee is absolutely scrumptious. I first tried the Sumatra Dark Bite dark roast. I like how the bags are resealable and I don't have to transfer them to another container or a different bag entirely - these are also easy to store in the cabinet too or display because the labels are definitely appealing and stand out. I was prepared for the Sumatra to be a bit darker - it seemed more like a medium roast to me, the flavor was still delicious nonetheless. I could definitely taste the sweet earthy tones in it which I liked. I also tried the Man O War Bourbon Pecan Torte for the first time. Man O Man this one was #1 across the board both hot or iced with a tad bit of sweet cream added. Absolutely delicious!! If you just get near the bag you can smell it and instantly want a cup of coffee. Its a light to medium roast but you'd never know it. Perfect for the changing of the seasons. read more

I stopped by this last Friday to pick up some coffee before returning to Cleveland early the next morning. Three people in my household either have GERD or some other stomach issue where low acid coffee would be very helpful. I was excited to try some! Since it was a Friday, I didn't call for hours in advance thinking they would be open, my bad. I pulled up to the Filthy Pirate at 4:53 pm. I went up near the door to view hours because of the closed sign showing on the inside of the glass door. There was an inside door (vs the our glass door) that was also closed.Disappointed that it was closed,". read more

I went here looking for a place that servers coffee. I was slightly annoyed with myself for not reading the reviews to see that they sell coffee to brew at home. When I walked in, the most amazing smell of roasted coffee surrounded me and took me to a happy place. They have ground, whole bean and K-cups. I tried three sampler packs and discovered my favorite coffee ever. Bourbon Pecan Torte. Lightly flavored but full of flavor. Smooth and delightful. Run over and get some today! read more

Walking in smelled absolutely amazing. Reminded me of walking onto a coffee farm and roasters in Hawaii. The smell alone sold me before trying any of the coffee. I tried the cold brew of the bourbon pecan, and it was AMAZING. So excited to try at home. I love that it is veteran and family owned/operated. Tucson needs more businesses that are locally owned. Very friendly owner, can't wait to try more of their coffees and treats! read more

I found Filthy Pirate Coffee many years ago. I've recently sampled their Powder Flask Espresso forte 4 bean blend. I feel it's important to include the full package Because it shows the same depth of thought that goes into their products as deep as the flavor of their coffee. Filthy Pirate is a local bright spot in the Northern Tucson Area, they have excellent service in their shop. They really take their time getting to know you and your coffee interests. Their coffee roasting is one of the best in town, with a variety of flavored coffee you may have never experienced. Horchata in my coffee? Who thinks of that? I was pleasantly surprised at how well this blend tasted in a pour-over and immersion brew. My personal recommendation and the reason I keep returning to Filthy Pirate is their Mutiny blend. That is my personal favorite and one that can be used for pour-overs and espresso. read more

Went here to grab some coffee after shopping at Lee Lees. The guy at the counter was super nice and provided free samples of their coffees and cold brew. Their bourbon pecan blend was top notch. It's a little difficult to find, just trust google....it's around the corner from Copper Creek Catering. I had planned on going inside but their curbside service was so fast! I had hardly turned my car off by the time someone was at my window to take my order. Both the hot coffee and the cold brew were delicious. I'd recommend taking the cinnamon roll home to war up for like 30 seconds in the microwave....perfection. We also got a sample of the cheese danish. From my 2 bites I would recommend that as well! read more

FPC is the BEST! Smooth, no acidity for sensitive stomachs. I do intermittent fasting so I only drink coffee black for a good chunk of the day before I will eat. Most other coffees leave me feeling nauseous but FPC is so easy going down..... I even feel good working out fasted with FPC. It's the best tasting coffee I've ever had. I am on the monthly order program and get my coffee sent to me at home. Super easy company to work with and veteran owned. Go get you some. read more

Excellent cold brew coffee. Amazing pastries and friendly owner. A bit hard to find but worth it. The raspberry danish is large enough for two to three people to share. The cinnamon roll is wonderful. Took both home and microwaved for 30 seconds, just enough to melt the yummy frosting, wow. Currently only open Friday through Sunday. read more

I tried Filthy Pirate Coffee a few months ago for the first time via sample for my office. I was super weary because Dan said you don't need creamer and he presented the coffee without creamer. I'm not just one to drink black coffee no matter how dark my soul. Haha. However that first sip changed my life FOREVER. It was so smooth, no bitterness, no after taste. And it only took about 4 sip samples before I was caffeinated! I now order it regularly and I highly recommend they subscription to stay on top of your coffee habit. It's been an incredible experience and I'm PROUD to support a first responder owned small business. read more

This stuff is legit! I don't normally try new things as much. But I did the other day and tasted the filthy Pirate kcup coffee. It's a medium roast, that I loved. First off, I thought this was a a typical coffee shop with chairs, wifi, etc... but it's not. It is more of a coffee tasting room where you can buy their blends and swag. While that's not what we were expecting, I have to say, the coffee is EXCELLENT. We tried 4-5 of their blends and liked every single one. I typically don't like flavored coffee, but their Bourbon Pecan roast was fantastic. They have coffee beans and k-cups available for sale along with plenty of very cool merchandise! (Just the medium roast available in K-Cups - I would love to see them get more options here) Go check these guys out.
