The proprietor was very knowledgeable about the blends and was able to direct me to some medium roast, low acid options. They sell beans and ground, as well as k-cups. They also sell loose tea as well as bagged tea. I confess I am also drawn to interesting names and beautiful packaging and Filthy Pirate has both. I also love that the back of the bag also talks about the flavor notes one can expect from each blend. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that they don't sell any brewed coffee (I thought from the outside this would be a cafe). BOUGHT: Sea Witch 12 oz. (Whole Bean) $16 Ship Wreck 12 oz. (Whole Bean) $14 Would recommend Whole Bean, as it made every cup as fresh as possible, and since we drink it black (and I drink it unsweetened), one can truly taste the freshly roasted bean! We tried "pour over" method, French press, and a Cuisinart Automatic Grind (with a gold-plated filter); French press and Auto Grind was best imo. Why yes, we do come from a place where coffee snobbery is encouraged! LOL! Our family loves stronger, deeper roasts -- "Ship Wreck" is an #ItalianRoast and did not disappoint (we hope to try the darker #Espresso roast soon). However, they have plenty of lighter and breakfast roasts, if that is your thing. "Sea Witch" is a flavored #PumpkinSpice coffee, and I had been deprived of that flavor over the holidays, so the description put a hankering in my system right away (plus the package design was awesome; see pics) = SOLD. "Sea Witch" is a slightly lighter roast, but the flavoring was excellent, solid medium notes, that do not overwhelm the bean. A big sell with this coffee, for myself, was the "low acid" -- I love all sorts of tea & coffee, but usually drink green tea (which is more agreeable to my body). Having once been a barista, I used to recommend Hawaiian Kona beans to those who preferred low-acid and did not think there were any alternatives! Will happily recommend Filthy Pirate too! There were no acid side effects, and nothing upset my system, after 2 cups a day of Filthy Pirate. My family had Filthy Pirate Coffee on our "to do" list for a while; we heard it talked about on #KNST radio in Tucson & The Green Line. Our budget is tight, like many, especially during Covid-19, but we wanted to do our part to support local businesses (with the bonus of supporting veterans as well) and budgeted for a little splurge. No regrets!! The free shipping meant we also bought more beans. :) And those beans were personally delivered in one day!! And an ad popped up while watching YouTube.com or it foolishly wouldn't have occured to me to check if one *could* order online (thought we'd have to wait for an in person visit...and that's gotten tricky for us). Filthy Pirate Coffee is an amazing Veteran owned small business. The owners are the sweetest. A must try if you are a coffee connoisseur. The coffee is absolutely scrumptious. I first tried the Sumatra Dark Bite dark roast. I like how the bags are resealable and I don't have to transfer them to another container or a different bag entirely - these are also easy to store in the cabinet too or display because the labels are definitely appealing and stand out. I was prepared for the Sumatra to be a bit darker - it seemed more like a medium roast to me, the flavor was still delicious nonetheless. I could definitely taste the sweet earthy tones in it which I liked. I also tried the Man O War Bourbon Pecan Torte for the first time. Man O Man this one was #1 across the board both hot or iced with a tad bit of sweet cream added. Absolutely delicious!! If you just get near the bag you can smell it and instantly want a cup of coffee. Its a light to medium roast but you'd never know it. Perfect for the changing of the seasons. read more

Filthy Pirate is a local bright spot in the Northern Tucson Area, they have excellent service in their shop. They really take their time getting to know you and your coffee interests. Their coffee roasting is one of the best in town, with a variety of flavored coffee you may have never experienced. Horchata in my coffee? Who thinks of that? At first taste I noticed rich flavor with a slight sweetness, followed by the expected bitterness of a dark roast which balances the sweetness perfectly. FPC is the BEST! Smooth, no acidity for sensitive stomachs. I do intermittent fasting so I only drink coffee black for a good chunk of the day before I will eat. Most other coffees leave me feeling nauseous but FPC is so easy going down..... I even feel good working out fasted with FPC. It's the best tasting coffee I've ever had. First off, I thought this was a a typical coffee shop with chairs, wifi, etc... but it's not. It is more of a coffee tasting room where you can buy their blends and swag. While that's not what we were expecting, I have to say, the coffee is EXCELLENT. We tried 4-5 of their blends and liked every single one. I typically don't like flavored coffee, but their Bourbon Pecan roast was fantastic. They have coffee beans and k-cups available for sale along with plenty of very cool merchandise! (Just the medium roast available in K-Cups - I would love to see them get more options here) Go check these guys out. One of the best small business coffee distributors around. Very friendly staff and wonderful atmosphere for those nerdy/fantasy/pirate lovers out there. The coffee they have is fine crafted and and they specialize in low acidity coffee. One of the only distributors that I have had that make amazing flavored coffee as well.
