After a full day of hiking the local trails we found this place via a quick google search and swung by for some dinner. The menu isn't vegetarian friendly unless you go with a pizza. But the cheese curds with ranch are on point! Lightly battered with a decent pull and served piping hot and greasy just the way we like 'em. Service was quick and friendly. We sat at the bar and were able to order food. Prices are reasonable especially for beer on tap. Plus they have pull tabs - the guy next to us won $250 off one! read more

We found the Fill Inn Station in downtown Chippewa Falls while visiting from out of town, and decided to stop. It was 4:15PM on a Saturday, so early dinner, but noticing they had prime rib on the menu, we were excited to give it a try - it seemed like a very Wisconsin thing to do! We were seated quickly in the no-frills, aged dining room, but upon trying to order said prime rib, we were told they were out...did I mention it was only 4:15PM? Anyway, we regretfully decided to stay because there aren't many other restaurants to choose from in Chippewa Falls. Aside from the prime rib, most other things on the menu looked to be from the fryer, which wasn't overly appealing. So, I ended up ordering a chicken quesadilla, which the menu said it had roasted chicken - not exciting, but better than something fried. Unfortunately, the "roasted chicken" was actually shredded chicken straight from a can. It was awful. And, to be in small town Chippewa Falls, the price shouldn't have been anywhere near the $11 they charged for it - I've had better from Taco Bell for $2. I'm giving Fill-Inn 2 stars only because 1 seems very harsh or something went grossly wrong, which it didn't. But, I can honestly say I won't be back because the menu is disappointing in my opinion. If you're willing to take a gamble, give it a shot, particularly if you like fried foods. read more

The fish was the same as from the fish fry, with a light crispy batter, with just one piece of fish, crisp lettuce, and a juicy tomato slice. The sandwich was served with a large bowl of creamy chowder, full of potato chunks, fish, shrimp, and sliced celery. This was a tasty, filling meal on a chilly, breezy day. DO NOT COME AFTER THE LEINENKUGEL's TOUR. Sat down at the bar with the pamphlet given to us at the end of the tour and the bar tender didn't want to give us the time of day. And the bar was maybe 60% full. I asked a question related to their coupon in the pamphlet. He literally said "I would guess the premium pitchers would be blank and blank" in a very arrogant, annoyed tone. Had zero people skills. In a place like this you need to be patient since you'll be getting a lot of tourist as they are listed as #1. Do yourself a favor and go to West Hill Bar #2 if you enjoy pizza! Only been sitting here 3 minutes. Already have a cold Leinie's and was greeted with a smile. P.S. I'll have to double check but I'm 95% sure this is my first 1 star. Visiting from Chicago. We were at the Tomahawk Bar and asked a good place for lunch. It's just a block off the main strip. The service was good and so was the food. The cheese curds were out-of-town! The beers were good but I surmise that's because they are not made here. None of our orders were cooked correctly and resembled what I would expect from a national chain. Went with a group of 15 on the Saturday of New Years after a drive through Irvine Park to see the Christmas light display. Main dining area was full so they pulled tables together in their overflow dining area. We were the only group in there so was a bit quiet until we asked for some music to be pumped into the room. We ordered a variety of pizza's. I ordered a Sausage and Sauerkraut. The sausage was the tiny-ball type that you get on frozen pizza and the sauerkraut was good, but sparse. I can't disagree with the earlier review regarding service and food quality. There is a funeral home on the next corner (I believe it was there before this establishment), so in some families after the wake we make our way to the Fill-Inn. Why argue with that sort of convenience? In the bar there is hot food during happy hour and I believe the popcorn machine is always on. read more

I've eaten here several times over the years when in Chippewa Falls, not by choice, but when visiting family, as it is their favorite spot. The food has gotten poorer over time. This last time, my wife ordered chicken wings. They were fried with ranch dressing on the side. I tried one. It had absolutely no flavor. A little salt, or anything, in the coating would have helped. I ordered a caesar chicken wrap. The wrap consisted of nicely cooked chicken and some lettuce with a tasty caesar dressing. How about a little parmesan cheese, carrot shred, onion, anything! The bottled dressing made it edible. My brother's pizza had a good amount of cheese but the whole thing was ruined by the institutional brown globs called sausage. How much trouble would it be to go down the street to the butcher shop, yes Chippewa Falls still has a butcher shop, and get some real Italian sausage. I think the restaurant added new lighting because the the added brightness showed just how dingey the place really is. Paper place mats would be nice. After unrolling my napkin to get to my silverware, I would like something clean, not the bare table to set them down on. After watching other tables be cleaned with a rag, I really didn't want to put something in my mouth that was sitting directly on the old table. The topper came when the cook came out and sat at the bar to watch Wheel of Fortune. The hairy underarms sticking out of the sleeveless t-shirt didn't make my wrap taste any better. As a matter of fact, I forgot that my fork was resting on the dirty table. When you work in a kitchen, you shouldn't look like you just got done cutting the grass. Next time, stay in the kitchen. The Fill-in station has always been a favorite of my husband and mine. That is, until yesterday. My chicken was terrible-old, dry and over done to the point of inedible. We are not the kind of people that complain and send our food back. Our way of dealing with the situation is to take the high ground. We pay the bill and never, ever patrionize the restaurant again.
