Last dinner of a week on the road and we were looking for pizza. A nephew had recommended this place from his college days in the area. After being here I could see why college students might like this especially the all you can eat buffet. We got here later on a Friday night and had no intention of doing the buffet which was a good thing because it looked like a bomb struck - it was almost totally gone and the salad bar was a mess. In Eau Claire for work for the week. I did a "pizza buffet" search on Yelp and Pizza Del Re came up as #1 on the list. A true blue collar working man pizza joint if ever there was one. The interior is dated and the crowd during my lone visit were definitely there during their work day. The restaurant has an old wooden countertop and the pizza is brought out and set on the counter along with cheese bread. During the lunch rush the countertop emptied frequently and quickly. The wait staff did a good job of replacing the pie trays almost as quickly as they were emptied. The pizza is a thin crust pizza that was crispy and had great flavor. A very good cheese bread and a full salad bar to boot. I was astounded when my lunch buffet & soda bill came in at $7.55. That is just unfathomable for an all you can eat pizza buffet. What to say about Pizza Del Rey. Thin crust pizza goodness and a buffet to get it from. A well stocked salad bar to fill your veggie cravings with pudding for dessert from it. They had a soup well with an ever changing soup of the day. My personal favorite is the cream of mushroom and followed by the broccoli cheese. The pizza comes out quick, hot and fresh made. There is a delay between rounds of Za goodness for you to choose from due to the limited kitchen size but always worth the wait. In my opinion this is the best pizza buffet in Eau Claire. I was so disappointed. 3 adults and an 8yr old was over $60 to eat... all we wanted was some traditional pizza and all they had was gross stuff- olive pizza, mac n cheese, taco, pine apple, sourcrout and some other slop... we were there for over an hour and never was able to eat a normal style pizza and the ones we did try the crust was still raw dough- literally, the dough was raw and stretched from your hand to your plate type of raw (so we stopped eating it), the salad bowl was empty and waited for 20 min to have them fill it up but by then we were full on soup as that was the only we would eat due to the lack of normal pizza. There is no way we ate $17 worth of food. We wont be going back which so sad as we used to love their pizza. Suggestion would be stop with all the specialty pizzas and make some traditional ones. read more

All of the pizzas on the buffet are thin crust, and your generic flavors (pepperoni, sausage, pepperoni and sausage, cheese) but if you ask the staff they can cook up something different for you. However, most times that I go, the pizzas have been sitting out for a while and they just aren't the quality that I would expect, and that would make me want to return. Once I asked for a fresh pizza to be made and was met with something to the equivalence of: "there are already several pizzas there, when there is more gone, we can fire up something different." Even though YELP says closed, it's most certainly open!! Had to stop in while back for Thanksgiving Break to try out my favorite pizza stop. The restaurant was clean and staff was friendly. The smell when walking in was just as I remembered it a few years ago: delicious. Pizza recipe seems to have stayed the exact same, salad bar was clean and had same toppings. Appears to be a low-class dive offering cheap gut-rot, but it is, in fact, heaven on earth. So cheap, it boggles my mind, both beer and their all you can eat buffets. The truly surprising part is they use honest-to-god real ingredients. I've never felt anything other than deliriously full after consuming mountains of their pizza. Their soup may look like a nuclear cheese bomb, and their salad bar is basic but adequate, but the pizza... my GOD, the pizza... I have special dreams about that pizza buffet. I have seen the place nearly riot because the kitchen couldn't keep up with the ravenous demands of a dining room full of professional over-consumers. So sometimes you get a show with your pizza too. Usually good...came today and the sausage on the pizza looked pink, found something weird in the pudding. Staff was sitting on their phones. Some were sitting in booths while others stood over by the buffet and they all talked about who knows what. Pictures as well. Also when checking out some staff in the kitchen glared up and then went back to working. The girl who rang us up seemed very unhappy and then some girl walked by and she started talking to them while we were waiting for our card back. I'm giving this four stars with reservations. This review is for take out only, This place has been our go to of late for pizza . It's a great value. We get the thin crust with the fresh mushroom sausage and extra cheese. They give you a bounce back coupon and I think that saves you 50 cents. It's very reasonably priced . We get the thin as I said...it's thin but holds up and it's not burnt! We used to get the regular crust but thin is better. This isn't a che che pizza joint....it's a working mans pizza joint. My wife and I think they have the best tasting pizza sauce in town. The pizza is hot and fresh . I think my total for the medium pizza was like $11. The staff is always busy but if you engage them they can be friendly. We have this one issue....and they always make it "right". But we prefer to have our pizza in slices not squares. But they have forgotten a couple of times....not the end of the world. I give this 4 stars but really more like a 3 1/2 based on price to value. You can pay more for a pizza but why? read more

Another flaw is sometimes there isn't much up there and when they do bring out a fresh pizza it's every man for themselves up there. Food was good and reasonably priced. Server was nice but if you are at all concerned about COVID or the Delta variant, this is definitely NOT the place to go. The place was crammed with people with very little distance between tables. It appeared there was no limit to how many people they could cram in. Children running in and around the tables screaming and yelling at the top of their lungs with the parents oblivious to what was going on. You couldn't even hear the person you were sitting next to for all of the yelling going on. Total chaos! There was no requirement to wear plastic gloves at the pizza buffet or at the salad bar. A woman came to the salad bar 3 times coughing and holding a tissue to her nose. Had it not been for a family members birthday we would have got up and left immediately. We came in on tonight with a large party a family. A family Reunion of sorts. There was 15 of us. The employee Jeremy was very attentive and ask what we wanted for pizza suggestions. 1st I don't think EC has a great pizza place. This is the best EC has and it is good. Don't expect the cleanest restaurant in town when you go here. Yes, it is on the dirty side but I have never became sick eating here. Please don't let my last few thoughts make you not go to this place because it is good but just not very clean. First off, lemme just say that this is the best pizza in Eau Claire, hands down. Prices for both the buffet and the whole pies to go are great. Service is quick and simple, which I like a lot. The dining room however isn't very well-maintained. Lights aren't on over the buffet so good luck finding out what pizza you're grabbing. I've seen cigarette butts in the potted plants and stuff before. Kitchen looks clean from what I've seen though. I've eaten Del Re pizza since I was a kid, and don't intend to stop now. I am going to give it a four. It's not a three but also not a four. My son and I are in town for a few days for training and found this place on Yelp. The guy he is training with said not to go here but before I knew this, I made up my mind to go. The decor is old and nothing to look at. We sat down and the lady (extremely nice) came over and asked if we were eating the buffet. We told her no and she brought a menu. I asked her what she suggest and she said, I don't know, people always just eat the buffet. I laughed so hard. Then she offered a couple suggestions. The place had a steady stream of people coming In the door for the buffet. Seemed like pizza was being added regularly. We ordered the family size thin crust with pepperoni , sausage and Canadian bacon (annoying). We also ordered the cheese bread. My son kept saying this was a bad idea to eat here and there is no way the food will taste good. I told him, these are the places that always taste good. When the food came out and he tasted it, he was singing a different tune. The pizza was really good and we ate like a couple of maniacs. The pizza lasted all of eight minutes and I was stuffed. I also had the salad bar (1.80 extra) and we had cheese bread (nothing to brag about). In the end, my 19 year old garbage machine was happy with the choice and so was I. Cheapest buffet in Eau Claire. It's a really cool building, kept clean despite the fact that they haven't updated the facility since it was built (some 30 odd years ago). They have good pizza, a decent sized salad bar, a desert plate, garlic bread, and a soup of the day. You can also request that they make a pizza and they will place it in the buffet line. Prices are, as I said cheap. They even have a few arcade machines. I had to dock them a star because it's not the biggest buffet in the world, it can be really packed sometimes. Still, I recommend trying the place, especially if you have kids. read more
