Fill A Bagel & Bread is a locally owned/operated bagel shop on Pennsylvania Avenue, Oreland, PA. It is their second store, and they have been a success baking and selling their goods to the surrounding communities for decades now. I was in the area after an appointment and hungry enough for breakfast as I drove back to my Bucks County office. A cuppa hot java and an onion bagel smeared with veggie cream cheese punched my ticket. What about the bagel? Well, it wasn't the best I've had, but far from the worst. Although fresh, I found its texture too dense, like perhaps the dough was kneaded too long before boiling/baking. The circumference of the rolled and twisted dough was smaller than ideal, and lacking air pockets that help lighten the bite and chew and allow the veggie cream cheese to afford more balance with the slightly sourdough flavor. The taste was alright, but the texture was not what I prefer. Plenty of roasted onion flakes all around. Service, friendly and efficient. I agree with the comments that the cost/benefit is somewhat askew for the nature of the business, location and overall quality. I have paid less for better bagels and coffee in bigger towns and cities. Yet, I don't know their running costs, and no doubt the shop reflects its financial need to pay the bills and make a reasonable profit. So, I find myself at the borderline between three and four stars attempt to find the right equipoise. I land at 3.5 Stars, and allow the app to round it up to 4. I'm DONE with this place. The one man is RUDE and I've been asking if they have gluten free bagels for over 2 WEEKS and every time I call they say no and I called this morning and he was extra rude and said "NO WE DO NOT" and immediately hung up. Such poor customer service it's sad! Just say I'm sorry mam we haven't had any for the last 2 weeks! But no just yell at me! The last time I ordered someone "with the same exact name as me" apparently took my order and I found out they purposely didn't make it when I came to pick it up! My mother in law told us about this bagel place and that my husband would love it. We went on one Sunday morning and got a dozen bagels. Bagels tasted fresh and were crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. I like my bagels warm but only a couple of them were still warm when I got home. We probably did go kind of late in the morning though so next time we'll have to go earlier. The bagel selection was average. They had all the usual flavors and then French toast and chocolate chip were probably the most unique flavors. I like getting random bagel flavors that you don't see everywhere. My husband always criticizes me and says good bagel places don't have all those weird flavors. They only had a couple of flavors of cream cheese too so we got a plain. My mom told me that her friend brought her amazing bagels from Oreland. I was confused, because I didn't remember a bagel place around there, thinking she was mistaken for another place. Once I saw this place, read some of your reviews, I decided I wanted to come while on break from work. I waited until the weekend, when my wife was around too. I read someone's review and saw that this place was a bit pricey, so I was nervous, thinking it was like the places on the main line by my work. When I got in, there were a lot of people and the bagels looked good. The price was very fair I thought, (spoiler alert - especially after tasting them!). We went with a bagels dozen and some cream cheese. I was so planning on eating a plain in the car to test it out, but my wife would complain. I know her to well. I tasted one when we got home and it was amazing. Really good. Top 3? Saying it's not the best I've ever had is such a compliment. Just to be in that conversation. This bagel had everything I want. Soft, chewy insides and nice crispy exterior. Not crunchy like all of the montreal style bagels I've been sadly getting, but a perfectly made bagel. I'm so happy. This is most likely going to be my go-to place. It's really out of the way to bring to people at work, but at home, this is my place. They have extra flavors too that my wife likes. I'm a sucker just for plain, because I just like the taste of bagels on their own, but every flavor I got was good. We got three plain and then ten other flavors. Overall, pretty decent bagel place. Been going to the Jenkintown location for years. Bagels are cooked properly, even if just slightly dense. The place is clean and smells good, like it ought to be! Prices slightly more reasonable that Manhattan bagel, where you can easily drop 30 bucks on bagels and juice without trying too hard. My only issue is that the people working the registers at both locations are usually grumpy, which is a bummer in the morning. The guy who took my order yesterday had an edgy, hostile attitude and seemed to enjoy making things unnecessarily difficult, when placing my order, demanding that I name what I wanted in a specific order and just being generally difficult. Really weird, and not what ya want to deal with first thing in the morning! It's important to remember that manners and kindness are essential when running a business. Seems obvious, but that is something people seem to forget, especially in the Philly metro area! Hopefully the owner will see this review and address this issue. read more

It's a little pricey and they only did one slice of pork roll on my PEC bagel (a shame but it's okay) but overall they are delicious sandwiches and Fill a Bagel's great customer service wise. Fill A Bagel occupies the two story building at the corner of East Pennsylvania Ave & Twining Road. The Twining Deli & Cone heads recently occupied this space. The interior has undergone a complete renovation and the main entrance has been relocated to the twining road side of the building. As you walk in the counter starts at the door and wraps around off to the left. I think they did a great job with the remodel. They opened today and I ordered a Sausage, Egg & Cheese on a plain bagel. It was very good and I will be sure to stop back for lunch later this week. This is their second location. read more

Delicious bagels! We love the jenkintown location and this one is closer to home so it's more convenient. My salad bagel was great, and our order was prepared fast. Unfortunately both the 2% milk and the half and half containers were completely empty at the coffee station. And the coffee tasted really old and kind of burned. I couldn't drink it. My husband ordered a bagel with hummus. The list of spreads has "homemade hummus" listed on it, but we watched the employee prepare his bagel with hummus from a Sabra hummus container. This isn't a big deal because sabra is delicious, but I don't think it should be advertised as homemade if it isn't. Fast and friendly service and delicious bagels! As you can tell by my review history, I love bagels. They are my ultimate comfort food. There is just something to be said about just the right amount of chew from a good bagel. I stopped by today before work and was surprised to see a bagel with veggies actually on the menu (The salad bagel sandwich - veggie cream cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, cucumber, carrots,peppers). When going to other bagel shops, this is the type of thing I have to order off the menu and sometimes get weird looks from the people behind the counter. Well I ordered it on a toasted everything bagel (+ added bacon) and wow, this really hit the spot. The bagel was perfectly toasted,the veggies all seemed fresh and crisp, the cream cheese had a great flavor, and last but not least: there was an ample amount of bacon on this sandwich! I was blown away by the sandwich! The bagel itself had a great flavor and justtttt the right amount of chew to it, really helping to cap off a great breakfast. Some people in other reviews have noted that it is a little more expensive than normal, however I found it be on par with other quality bagel places in Philly and the surrounding burbs. The quality of the food and good service seen here makes it worth the little bit extra, plus you get to help a local business, which is always nice. I will most certainly be back soon. Tried this location after being to the jenkintown one a week earlier. I would say the food was just as good at this one. Sandwiches and bagels were great again! The interior of this one is a little nicer but also has very little seating if you want to sit to eat. Only other negative for me about this place is that they don't have any cups for tap(free) water. I don't like buying bottled water, but I might be in the minority. I have to agree with some other reviews that the food is not really fast. If you are in a hurry, Dunkin donuts or Starbucks are going to be way faster. read more

I love this place! We have been going to the Jenkintown location for years, so were very excited when they opened this location near our house. This is easily the best bagel store in the area. Their bagels are very good. I usually go with an everything bagel toasted with cream cheese. I also really like their bagel breakfast sandwiches. There are a few reviews that mention the way they cook their eggs using a microwave, but honestly I think they taste really good regardless of how they cook them.
