The best spot in Glenside for a delicious sandwich and coffee. Staff are always friendly food is always great. The atmosphere is amazing, love that it's right next to septa

Your day can't start without Elcy's coffee

Amazing coffee shop, it has an outstanding resemble of European/South American coffee shop, quiet, amazing scones, very nice selection of coffees and for this summer you can grab a yummy smoothie. Your day can be busy, but first Elcy's!

Live blogging from Elcy's Coffee House: I'm having a hard time with this one, because I really, really want to like it. The owner and staff are so nice, and the coffee and food are great. And it's kinda cute that it's at the train station, so you can hear the whistle whenever it pulls out of the station (I'm a sucker for stuff like that). However, it smells like bacon and they are blasting country music. Random, right? The seating is not comfy (think train station benches) and there is a serious lack of outlets. Some of the tables are even in the same room where you buy your SEPTA tickets. Hmmm...I can't decide whether this is charming or just plain weird. My verdict: not a good place to get some work done (even though there's free wi-fi) but a great place to grab a cup of joe or a smoothie before you go on your way. Carrie E. out...

The space isn't huge but it's very cute ambience with a chandelier of plants cascading the ceiling with simple decor. We both ordered chicken and waffles, the chicken is perfectly fried. Crunchy but not too much or less batter that holds a juicy thigh. The seasoning felt simple but the flavors were anything but. The waffle was big and dense with the outer layer having a subtle crisp that reveals a soft interior. Again, very subtle seasonings, they are not overloading the food with masses of flavoring, these people know how to work around their ingredients and let them shine. The chicken and waffles get a phenomenal 9/10 We also purchased an order of Fish and Grits to share with the lobster sauce on the side as I have a slight shellfish allergy and the waitress insisted on putting it in the side even though I told her it was ok (I appreciate the consideration). I rarely order this type of meal but man do I not regret it at all. I'm not even sure what kind of fish I consumed but it was so perfectly fried with the gentlest breading that complemented the perfectly cooked fish. Again the seasonings are subtle, it's not really the boldest of flavors, it just tasted good. The grits were savory while not being overwhelming when combining the fish which ended up being very satisfying bite. The Fish And Grits gets an amazing 9.5/10 I will be coming back, I'd like to try more of what they offer. These people are masters of frying things to perfection while retaining the core flavors of the protein. The staff was friendly and you can feel the soul they breathe into the place. I highly recommend giving them a chance.

I would appreciate a little bit more brightness/acidity, like maybe some lemon wedges or capers, but that's a really minor note and I'm sure not everyone would agree.

The waiter Joseph is so kind and he always makes our visit special as regulars. He already knows what we want to eat, and our granddaughter has become so fond of him. My husband's favorite is the fish and grits. It makes him hum when he eats it and the chef comes up during most visits and checks in. The staff is very friendly. I often choose the belly filler and it's enough for me and my three-year-old granddaughter with leftovers to take home. We love our early morning visits there and the jazz music. It's a very nice atmosphere. There's a constant stream of people coming to pick up takeout orders so I know along with us,many people are pleased with this establishment.

Instead, they simply placed egg whites on top, which was unappetizing. After my initial order was returned due to these issues, I hoped for a better outcome. Unfortunately, the grits were hard, and the turkey sausage tasted flat, resembling a flat soda rather than a well-cooked dish. My friend ordered the Banana Foster French toast, but it was far from traditional. The bananas were served on the side, and when we expressed our disappointment, the server replied that this was their unique preparation method, which did not work at all. Overall, I would rate this experience a 1 out of 10. I have no intention of returning. When I attempted to discuss my concerns with the cook, he acknowledged my feedback but seemed indifferent, saying, "Sorry! I wasn't there. I just came back." He then promised to ensure my food would be better next time, but honestly, there won't be a next time for me. Patty
