The space isn't huge but it's very cute ambience with a chandelier of plants cascading the ceiling with simple decor. We both ordered chicken and waffles, the chicken is perfectly fried. Crunchy but not too much or less batter that holds a juicy thigh. The seasoning felt simple but the flavors were anything but. The waffle was big and dense with the outer layer having a subtle crisp that reveals a soft interior. Again, very subtle seasonings, they are not overloading the food with masses of flavoring, these people know how to work around their ingredients and let them shine. The chicken and waffles get a phenomenal 9/10 We also purchased an order of Fish and Grits to share with the lobster sauce on the side as I have a slight shellfish allergy and the waitress insisted on putting it in the side even though I told her it was ok (I appreciate the consideration). I rarely order this type of meal but man do I not regret it at all. I'm not even sure what kind of fish I consumed but it was so perfectly fried with the gentlest breading that complemented the perfectly cooked fish. Again the seasonings are subtle, it's not really the boldest of flavors, it just tasted good. The grits were savory while not being overwhelming when combining the fish which ended up being very satisfying bite. The Fish And Grits gets an amazing 9.5/10 I will be coming back, I'd like to try more of what they offer. These people are masters of frying things to perfection while retaining the core flavors of the protein. The staff was friendly and you can feel the soul they breathe into the place. I highly recommend giving them a chance.

Great southern-ish breakfast, served by very down to earth pleasant staff…read more I got the Salmon, grits and 2x eggs. Really excellent food, cooked perfectly. I would appreciate a little bit more brightness/acidity, like maybe some lemon wedges or capers, but that's a really minor note and I'm sure not everyone would agree.

I'm honestly still very disappointed with West Ave Grille. My husband and I used to go here all the…read moretime, and it was one of our go-to places for breakfast. Our meals would usually cost around $35 at most, so imagine our shock when we went in one day and were charged over $150 for TWO people. We ordered something as simple as bacon, eggs, home fries, and orange juice. Then we realized they were charging everything à la carte, even charging us separately for the eggs. When I questioned the manager about the bill, her response was simply that "prices went up." There was no real concern or attempt to explain why a basic breakfast for two had suddenly become over $150. At that point, I honestly felt like we had been overcharged. For those prices, I would expect a completely different level of experience. I shouldn't have to pay $150+ for two people to eat bacon, eggs, home fries and drink orange juice. Needless to say, we haven't been back since. It's not even about the money at this point. It's the principle and how the situation was handled. When you have loyal customers who have been coming to your restaurant for years, you shouldn't make them feel like they've been taken advantage of and then dismiss their concerns. Very disappointing because we genuinely used to enjoy coming here.

It's great Jenkintown has a few spots close by that are little hidden gems. Of course, we HAD to get the Shirt Rib again, and it was so tender and delicious!! We complimented that dish with the pasta special of the night - Homemade Fettuccine with Shrimp and Crab Meat. It was in an exquisite red bell pepper sauce and the pasta was cooked perfectly! The large tender shrimps were the best! We will be returning again to Via 417 in the not too distant future!

There were 8 of us and they took the time to work with each person. We started with escargo which were buttery and had a strong garlic flavor. They were soft to the bite and well seasoned. We also had fried Calamari. It was fried perfectly and also seasoned nicely. The sausage and shrimp dish in Cajun cream sauce was delectable. The pasta was al dente and the sauce was delicious. The New York strip was cooked to the right temp and the shrimp and polenta put it over the top. The one dish that was disappointing was the Bronzino as the risotto had no flavor to it. There was no salt and pepper added during the cooking process. The desserts were the basic Italian cannoli and tiramusu. None of it blew us away. Nice little place in the area and we would return to try some more items.
