The menu had a really good choice and also so good set menu deals, we chose the menu for two which was £25.95 where you could chose any 2 starters, any 2 mains, any 2 rice dishes, 1 side dish and 1 Naan bread which I thought was very good value indeed. The drinks prices were also very reasonable. The food arrived promptly and very well prepared, the dishes were not in the normal chrome bowls but presented on some very nice white oblong dishes. Waiting staff were very friendly and helpful, and also offered us a free complimentary drink after the meal. so if you live or are visiting Scarborough I would recommend eating at the Indian Rose

I thought the dishes were fine quality, tasty and not too spicy. Good prices and good portions, suitable for sharing. Loved the atmosphere, with low lighting from chandeliers with red highlights and lounge music. It seemed more modern and hip than a standard Indian joint. The crowd was a mix of small groups of businessmen and tourists, with a few families like us.

Even though I walked in at 5:15, they were happy to see me and brought me to a table near the window. I started with the Liver Tikka. I've never had this before and I would recommend it. Not at all "livery", three good sized pieces arrived on a sizzling plate with some sauteed onions and a bowl of mint sauce. Th mint was a big help because this was seriously hot. Not spicy hot, temperature hot. Wow! For mains, the "handi" was listed as 'just like we have it at home' on the menu so I thought I'd give that a try. I chose lamb instead of chicken. It took about ten minutes (the waiter warned me it would be 15) and I also opted for two chapati to go with it. Again, very hot coming from the kitchen and it had a whole lot of flavor and spice, but it wasn't "hot" spicy just really tasty. Lots of small pieces of lamb in a sauce that is beyond description. Let's just say that it was excellent and the chapati was perfect for scooping. No dessert, but the cold bottle of Kingfisher was perfect (first time in a bottle, it's usually draft). A great meal!

We had three rice between four of us and that was too much. We tried coconut, tomato and pilau rice. All fantastic. Bombay potato was simply sublime. Let down a bit with dirty tablecloth and grease smeared menus and a young drinks waiter who didn't listen properly. But these are small points and are no detraction to an excellent meal. Our 12 year old is now hooked on their Tandoori Butter Chicken and even wants to try other dishes now. This after years of treating curry as toxic waste. I'm going there again this evening for a takeaway. I'll try something new in the certainty that it will be wonderful.
