The menu had a really good choice and also so good set menu deals, we chose the menu for two which was £25.95 where you could chose any 2 starters, any 2 mains, any 2 rice dishes, 1 side dish and 1 Naan bread which I thought was very good value indeed. The drinks prices were also very reasonable. The food arrived promptly and very well prepared, the dishes were not in the normal chrome bowls but presented on some very nice white oblong dishes. Waiting staff were very friendly and helpful, and also offered us a free complimentary drink after the meal. so if you live or are visiting Scarborough I would recommend eating at the Indian Rose

Scarborough's annual Fair takes place around the last week in September…read more It consists of the usual fairground rides (bumper cars, ghost houses, whirlitzers) plus some more modern and extreme ones (big spinning thing that sends you 100 foot in the air upside down). Along with the rides are 'try your luck' stalls, various burger vans and sweet stalls. We Generally stock up on goldfish at this time as the ones from the fair seem to last a lot longer than ones from the shop. In earlier years the fair has attracted large gangs of kids with alcohol. However, this has been stamped out over the last two years with the introduction of fencing and security. The fair usually starts at 5pm and finishes at 10pm. I'm unfortunate enough to live near this so the noise can be quite disruptive. However, the fair itself is very good and is a spectacle to behold in the dark autumn nights.

It's homestyle Indian food and it's rich and spicy. The samosas are made fresh and are really delicious, if you are into seekh kebabs, they make a mean meat stick. The butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, nauratan korma, saag paneer and vindaloo are all excellent. The caveat on the vegetarian biryani is that it's just frozen veggies thrown in with the rice, avoid these limp veggies and just get the rice pulau. Service is very good, and you can't beat the price, for two people it's usually around $12 each, and with a group, you can get a great meal for around $8. Take-out is very thorough, they pack everything nicely. Head on out there and have some good, homey Indian food. Note: Do not sit on the right side of the restaurant on a sunny day. It's more of a greenhouse than a solarium.
