Scarborough's annual Fair takes place around the last week in September.
It consists of the usual fairground rides (bumper cars, ghost houses, whirlitzers) plus some more modern and extreme ones (big spinning thing that sends you 100 foot in the air upside down).
Along with the rides are 'try your luck' stalls, various burger vans and sweet stalls. We Generally stock up on goldfish at this time as the ones from the fair seem to last a lot longer than ones from the shop.
In earlier years the fair has attracted large gangs of kids with alcohol. However, this has been stamped out over the last two years with the introduction of fencing and security.
The fair usually starts at 5pm and finishes at 10pm. I'm unfortunate enough to live near this so the noise can be quite disruptive.
However, the fair itself is very good and is a spectacle to behold in the dark autumn nights. read more
