Visited with my wife on 10/10/25 as we were craving some 'homemade comfort food' kinda stuff on our…read moreshort trip. Staff were very polite and welcoming, and proved to show intense care towards us. Visited us multiple times to ensure we were comfortable and enjoying the dinner. Amazing taste and presentation of the food with generous and adequate portions which are a bang for your buck for sure. Very reasonable prices! Would highly recommend the mixed kebab starter, and the chicken tikka, tarka daal and lamb bhuna mains for the desi/Asian customers as they're at just the right spice levels. However they did cater to multiple locals and adjusted the spice levels accordingly (as per our conversation with our neighbouring couple at the table). Hats off to the chef Mr Saiful for his fabulous culinary skills. No wonder this place won best chef's award twice. We were thrilled to find that out later. Well deserved. The maitre'd Mr J / Javed was extremely caring and polite towards us, and guided us through the menu to make the right decisions. He knows his job very well! Good man and provided quick service. Maintained proper cleanliness throughouT. Would definitely recommend and revisit. Easily 100/100 best place in Scarborough for a bite.

Major points for being perhaps the only place in Scarborough open til MIDNIGHT!…read more PLUS: * delicious food-- we recommend the lamb with chickpeas (or okra), the chicken tikka (dry), the spinach-potatoe side. * nice atmosphere, Indian (not pop/disco) music on the sound system * clean bathrooms (as mentioned by another reviewer) * complimentary mini after-dinner drinks served with the bill(!) * if you are REALLY hungry, the meals for 2 are a good value-- 2 entrees, 2 starters, a side, naan & rice for only 23. Would have been too much food for us; we had same but no starters and total was under 18 before drinks! * very friendly service; felt very welcome and never rushed, despite arriving around 11pm and being the last diners to leave. SUGGESTIONS: * lose the green food coloring included in some dishes (the garlic naan & the yogurt lassi dressing served with salad garnish) * indicate which dishes are spicy, or that you could request some dishes more spicy.

And we still had to wait 40 minutes after those calls. When it FINALLY arrived it was incomplete, incorrect and cold I got straight into the car and took it back and after some discussion managed to get a full refund. We were informed that it took so long because they were incredibly busy this was very laughable as when I returned the food, the restaurant was almost empty! I would advise customers to go somewhere else. Price was a bit on the more expensive side of things but not massively.

We collected the order and just couldn't go back when we realised. My other half ordered the Lamb Tikka Naga supposed to very hot but have had hotter kormas! Plus it wasn't very hot in temperature either and the lamb wasn't at all tender. I had the Miaz Special my lamb was the same. All round not very nice at all and I don't think we will be going back when we come to Scarborough again, as I said we did have such a great meal in the restaurant last year but the takeaway was very disappointing to say the least.

After a week of pub grub and clichéd British food, it was time for some curry. Yelp to the rescue!…read more We found Akbars just a few blocks from the train station, so it made a good stop after the National Railway Museum. I thought the dishes were fine quality, tasty and not too spicy. Good prices and good portions, suitable for sharing. Loved the atmosphere, with low lighting from chandeliers with red highlights and lounge music. It seemed more modern and hip than a standard Indian joint. The crowd was a mix of small groups of businessmen and tourists, with a few families like us.

Even though I walked in at 5:15, they were happy to see me and brought me to a table near the window. The menu was a bit strange - a solidly laminated sheet - but it had all the usual curries that I've come to expect in this country. And so instead of going with the usual, I let my eye choose. I started with the Liver Tikka. I've never had this before and I would recommend it. Not at all "livery", three good sized pieces arrived on a sizzling plate with some sauteed onions and a bowl of mint sauce. Th mint was a big help because this was seriously hot. Not spicy hot, temperature hot. Wow! For mains, the "handi" was listed as 'just like we have it at home' on the menu so I thought I'd give that a try. I chose lamb instead of chicken. It took about ten minutes (the waiter warned me it would be 15) and I also opted for two chapati to go with it. Again, very hot coming from the kitchen and it had a whole lot of flavor and spice, but it wasn't "hot" spicy just really tasty. Lots of small pieces of lamb in a sauce that is beyond description. Let's just say that it was excellent and the chapati was perfect for scooping. No dessert, but the cold bottle of Kingfisher was perfect (first time in a bottle, it's usually draft). A great meal!
