Anniversary dinner, the service was excellent, Scott was great, as was everyone who stopped by the table to check in, including the owner! We went with the Chef's Tasting Menu, which was on point, so flavorful and filling. Very relaxed environment, we felt special!

From initial contact through wrapping up our celebration, the Figs and Fables experience was absolute perfection. They delivered high end ambiance, service, and food without being ostentatious. I could describe the food in detail, but I feel that would take away the joy of discovery that we experienced with every course. However, I will say the coffee service done with mismatched tea cups was a delightful surprise, and a salad that was more beet than greens took Grandma back to her days of eating fresh produce from her garden, and the pastry chef's chocolate cake was perfectly decadent. Grandmas don't turn 100 every day, and Figs and Fables helped us mark the occasion with the appropriate level of pomp and circumstance. If you are looking for a private dining experience in Valpo, this is the place!

New spot in downtown Valpo! I strolled in the other night for drinks and had the pleasure of meeting the owner Adam and the bartender Ellie. Great conversations about the inspiration behind the place and insight into specific dishes/drinks. We decided to order the caviar sampler and it was such an unexpected and fun experience. We will definitely be back to have a formal dinner. This is a great place to get dressed up and celebrate a special event with a special person! There are also tables for larger parties and events too.

Wow! Just stunned at the attention to detail in every way service, drinks, food, to the atmosphere. The food was amazing and the rotating menu keeps you happily coming for more. You cannot skip the masterfully crafted desserts, that tastes just as amazing as it looks. Also the peanut butter delight was out of this world 100% best expresso martini in the Chicagoland. Please do yourself a favor and give this restaurant a try.

Our first time to Figs and Fables and everything was absolutely amazing from start to finish! Rich was a fantastic server and all of his recommendations were spot on. The wagu bites and turkey meatball appetizers both had a lovely combination of flavors, and my main dish 'quak quak' was some of the best duck I've ever had. We were there for a birthday celebration and instead of the typical dessert that any restaurant would do, their pastry chef created a sensational work of art in the cake that was brought out to us. Every bite was a discussion point at the table and we were delightfully surprised at the flavors, textures, and presentation. If you love an Old Fashion, please do yourself a favor and order it! You'll thank me later :) We felt so special the whole evening by the way we were treated by all the staff including the owner Adam who was very hands on and excited to share his restaurant dream with all of us! We will definitely be back when we are in town as this is our new favorite spot in Valpo!

My partner and I had a wonderful experience. We visited late at night and had the room to ourselves. The staff didn't rush us at all, allowing us to enjoy our meal at our own pace. The food was delicious, with good portions. We even got to talk with the owner, who was really friendly. Overall, it was a fantastic experience!

We figured it would have been the perfect way to top off our evening. For first-timers it might be hard trying to find the speakeasy since at first I thought you had to access it from the Busy Street and walk up three flights of stairs. Actually you just walk inside of the Embers building, find the elevator that's kind of hidden and take it to the Third floor. I thought that the little trip up felt exclusive already. Once you're at the third floor you are treated to a beautiful array of scenery. Exit to your left and you were treated to the bar and some great tables with a cozy, intimate setting. I'm not sure if it was open seating since there was a little podium right off the elevator so we just sat ourselves. Some speakeasies require a certain dress code to keep up with the times. This one thankfully was casual though many people dressed business casual. We actually loved how the staff dressed as well. I have to try their Japanese sex drink and I absolutely loved every ship that I took. The drinks are fairly price. They did have a food menu but it was mainly snacks and small plates that were a bit overpriced. If we're having a large Gathering they have a big private room next door. This place does have a lot of great events going on as well with their upcoming Valentine's Day event that looks really interesting. It does get pretty busy as well after 7:00 p.m. from our experience. Overall, I was excited and enjoyed our visit coming to the 933 speakeasy!

It seems like a nice place but our experience, particularly food, wasn't great. Service was good,…read moreour waiter was patient and friendly as we came as a party of 6 plus kids. What left me puzzled is food. What I loved were fries, round shaped which I thought was rather unusual and just the right amount of salt, crispiness, softness inside. That's about it though. As a main dish I picked prosciutto focaccia and while on paper it looked great, it came out very dry, almost stale, I didn't enjoy it at all. While fries were great, the portion of it was tiny. Like, 10 or 11 fries in a small plate. My partner got a chicken sandwich and it was good. Now, the kids got kids burger which comes with fries too and I swear the kids plate had double the fries compared to my side. We also got kids pasta and it was the same size as someone's pasta from our party. I mean, great value for kids menu items, sure, but I'm just not sure why adult dishes are so slim compared to kids. When they brought the check we noticed two items in it that we didn't order, which we realized after paying for it and looking at the receipt (they use portable terminals and have an option to text you the receipt). Our server corrected the mistake and refunded the difference for the two items we didn't order promptly after we pointed it out but this still left a bad aftertaste for us; we don't always look at receipts and this one would've gone unnoticed for sure, we only looked because total seems a bit too high. I also noticed that the soup upcharge on the menu is $2, but on the check it was $3. Pointed it out to the server too but she didn't do anything about it. It's just a dollar so we didn't press for it, and again, only noticed it because we started looking at the receipt due to unusually high total. Anyway, it was nice to visit, but we won't be back.

The bartender/waitress (she did everything), was such an awesome person! She was a great bartender, who created several drinks on their menu that my wife loved, and just as great a waitress providing on-point service and recommendations on what to order from the menu. Despite taking care of all of the drinks and food orders for all of the patrons, she provided great service! Above and beyond that, her personality was so friendly and welcoming. You felt like asking her to join you for your meal! I ordered their house 'drift' burger but added bacon and cheddar (which I think helped the flavor a lot), but it came with a very tasty chipotle aioli (when combined with the cheese and bacon, gave a great flavor profile). It comes with a bag of chips but I upgraded to fries (they are shoestring-style). My wife ordered the blackened fish tacos that had corn, mango, and a blackened haddock; all contained in a crispy shell. She said it was the best thing she ate our 10-day trip of the mid-west! (I was shocked because we had some pretty awesome lunches and dinners - maybe it was the awesome mixed drinks that we're talking ;) All of our food is pictured. To wrap things up we had a cupcake flight for dessert. They were just 'ok' in my opinion. A bit dry and the flavors were not my taste (but that may just be my preference). I liked the coffee and chocolate/peanut butter the best, but even they weren't anything to write home about. The glass of milk helped a lot. Also, of note, if it's not busy inside you can bring your pup with you to eat, and if it is busy, you can eat outside with your pup. We thought that was nice because we always travel with our dog. The bartender/waitress who served us loves dogs and was happy to see him (although we didn't bring him until after dinner) and provided a bowl of water. Overall, we had a great dining experience to head back home with! Definitely recommend eating here if you stay at the Hilton it is connected to or if you just want to eat/have a drink.
