As a kid, I used to be dragged to Fiesta on Northside after my mom did her "other" grocery shopping at Nguyen Loi. I didn't know this place was even here until last week. Since then, I have been back twice. Produce! CHEAP. Like tomatillos at 88 cents a pound ($1.50 at Kroger, and I thought that was a deal!) Meat! CHEAP. And has a real butcher's section, including all your usual staples as well as proteins not readily available at mainstream grocery stores (ie., beef tongue, chicken feet, etc.) Huge international foods section (see picture...and that's only the Asian stuff!). Wall of Mexican cheeses. Easily found the oaxaca cheese I needed to make chile rellenos with ('cuz stuffing poblanos with cheddar= horrific bastardization). See picture. They also have every spicy chip variety known to man. See picture. This store is huge and rather complete. Some stuff costed more (ie., processed goods), but I am going to be regular here for my fresh goods. Plus they sell cold bottled water by the check out for 50 cents. I also want to add that no shopper's club card is required :) Thank you Fiesta for being kind to my budget, which has been pulverized by grad school and my wedding. What more can be said? If you're looking for excellent produce with a strong lean towards Mexican-style fare, this is the place. Peppers, herbs, tomatillos, cacti, fruit....you name it, fresh and cheaper than Tom Thumb with better variety. Should you plan to get your Cheerios and Triscuits here? Probably not, you can get the American staples cheaper with your Kroger discount card, but for all the other goodies - tortillas, Mexican soda and juice, pinatas, salsas... this is the place. Yes, they speak great English, and no, you won't be the only white person in the place. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and they're appreciative of their customers. read more

Definitely my go-to grocery store for produce. I usually shop and risk the long lines at Wal-Mart for all other things on my weekly grocery list (paper products, bread, milk, eggs, cereal, canned goods, anything in boxes) because it's cheaper there. But the two things I never buy at Wal-Mart are meat (that's for the meat market) and fruits/vegetables. Fiesta has a great selection of fresh and well-priced produced, it just can't be beat. The seafood counter isn't bad either if you're looking for some fresh cuts of fish (though I prefer mine frozen.) The bakery is also pretty good and my second choice if I can't go to the bakery down the street from my house. My mom is also crazy about their potted plant selection up front (strange I know.) Fiesta, Fiesta! I've drove by Fiesta many times and never stopped. It took my husband getting his hair cut here for me to go in the store. Only then I didn't really stop and explore the store. When he got his hair cut the other day, I grabbed a Sale paper on the way out. Their produce is so cheap. .69 cents for bananas, $1.80 for asparagus, tomatillos and tomatoes were like .88 cents a pound, $1.80 for a whole package of strawberries. GUAVA! Why haven't I stopped here sooner?? $3 for a WHOLE catfish! Now you know how American stores have lobsters swimming around in tanks. They got live big ol catfish swimming around in theirs. Red snapper was $5 a pound for a whole one. Spiral ham $1 a pound. Down the aisles one side is american and the other side is hispanic. I'm one that usually will go to the same grocery store over and over because I know them like the back of my hand. Get in there and Git r done. I was the mama pushing a shopping cart, pulling a twin stroller behind me, and trying to get out of there as quickly as possibly before I'm asked "are they twins?" for the millionth time. Those days are over and kiddos are in school now so I can explore the grocery store.. Oh fun. Without a doubt, I'll be coming here more often. read more

Came there for a haircut, however needed change. The cashier was as friendly as a rattlesnake. I was the only person at the register at 11:00 AM and she moved like molasses. She didn't smile once. Oh did I mention that I had one item! BTW, when it came time to pay, I asked if I need to to swipe or place my card for chip. She said, "Uh, swipe!" sarcastically. When the card swipe stated that I needed to insert my card for chip reading, I told her, "It says to insert chip." "Well, insert it!" I didn't appreciate her smart smart aleck remark from a cashier. read more

Fiesta continues, as a corporate policy, to show one price on the shelf and charge a higher price in the register. It is the standard profit margin boost practice of disreputable businesses who cater to minority and lower income clientele. Their standard excuse is "it's a programming error." However, logic and common sense dictate if that were true there would be a roughly comparable # of items that ring below shelf display price as ring higher than display price. It is a common fraud committed to boost margins, stealing money from clientele disinclined to complain, in minority/low income clientele stores. Have never once had a single item ring below display price. Incorrectly priced items are salted throughout the store. They are ALWAYS rung higher than display price and in multiple items from all departments. Their excuse is invariably "programming error." It is intentional. It is corporate fraud. Call the AG's consumer fraud division every time. The corporate fraud of buried price increases should be sanctioned and stopped. They're padding their margin by defrauding their customers. Multiple calls to management and Houston corporate have been met with dissembling and a "so what" attitude. You are being robbed. read more

I love Fiesta! Great, cheap produce. Amazing international foods section, Asian, German, Italian, British, Hungarian and Middle Eastern! The meat section leaves something to be desired. But still a great store. I took my girlfriend that works at Whole Foods once and she kept seeing things from Whole Foods for half the price. They don't have everything but they have some great stuff. Within biking distance from my house so that's a plus!! read more

OMG! Seriously, after reading reviews from fellow yelpers I was looking forward to going into this place and finding lots a FRESH fruits and veggies what I found was a gross, dirty, store! The produce section was a joke I've seen fresher tnrown away by other grocers and restaurants that they thought were UNFIT to sell or use. No really I actually picked up moldy product and showed it to an employee and they just laughed and said opps.. Really opps! If it had been just one item might have been able to overlook it but not several! read more

I've been shopping here for years, but it's really (REALLY) dropped off in recent months. Things like cereal and basic salad dressing are past expired. And it used to be the best place in town for produce, and that's also dropped off - less options and more things are molded or expired. It's so convenient, but it's not worth it when you get home and your staples are expired. read more

Best grocery store ever. I started to write a review of how the produce, sea food, and international section are awesome, however, that's been covered in previous reviews so.... I've been going to this Fiesta since 2007 when I moved here from Georgia. Today I see many of the same employees I saw when I first started going this Fiesta. The employees are awesome and they're consistent. I've never met employees as willing to help me or as courteous as those at this Fiesta. As for the completion--Target, no one cares: Walt-Mart, 15 minutes to shop and 1.5 hours to check out: Kroger, half the selection and twice the price. At Fiesta I can find what I need (so long as I'm not shopping for prepared food), buy it at a lower price, and do it around friendly and helpful staff and customers. The bakery is amazing. Go through their doughnut case and buy one of everything and a tres leche cake and flan cake as well. Their beer selection is getting better and now has a number of local brews. And, they've recently added what I like to call the hipster section in between the produce and sausage/lunch meat/processed meat section--you never know what you'll find but you'll probably want to try it, also this is where they keep the Greek youghurt. Check out the isles by produce and pick up a bar of the patchouli soap and some devotional candles--my money candela hasn't worked yet but I'll still give Fiesta 5 stars. read more

I bought a frozen dinner from there today - December 13 2015. Reading the heating instructions I noticed the "best by" date on it is 9/15/15 which makes it months out of date. That could be dangerous if eaten! Disappointed and will for sure check dates on everything from now on. read more

I was very disappointed by my visit today (09-23-2015). I stopped by to pick up some ingredients for dinner, and the iceberg lettuce was $2.49/each! I have never seen iceberg lettuce that expensive, and it wasn't even organic. (You can get iceberg lettuce for $0.99-$1.49/each at most grocery stores.) I checked out at the Express Lane and because I had only 7 items, I didn't think twice about it when the cashier handed me 2 plastic bags. (Those 7 items certainly could have fit in 2 bags.) After a 20-minute drive home, I realized as I was getting ready to cook that the cashier did NOT put my green bell pepper and ginger root in my bags! My receipt shows I paid for them! I didn't have time, in the middle of trying to prepare dinner, to make a 40-minute roundtrip drive back out there just because she forgot to hand me all of my bags. I had to drive out to a closer store and pay $3.99/lb of ginger root, when I had already paid $1.99/lb at Fiesta, which was more expensive than the usual $1.69/lb that I would pay at Hong Kong Market. I thought I'd swing by and give this place a try, but I was really sorry that I ended up losing money going there. read more

Fiesta is fantastic for inexpensive but excellent produce, meats (fajita meat in particular), and baked goods. I wouldn't recommend it for staples such as paper towels, toiletries, etc. read more

Been coming here for years mainly because it's the sole grocery store in this area. It obviously caters to the Latino community so yes you'll hear Spanish speaking music inside (but they do switch to English music sometimes). They have cheaper prices than Kroger and a larger selection of produce & ethnic food. They don't have certain things like hummus though, so you'll have to trade off one thing for another. I'd recommend double checking expiration dates as a few years back it took me awhile to find still unexpired cereal. You might want to watch out because they're known to forget to bag things and you'll go home without your purchase. They have a kiosk if you want to pay off some bills or get your car registration. Their parking lot can be sketchy. It's not uncommon to get asked for money, and I knew someone who had a ding in their car. Management didn't respond to his grievance. They really need to restripe their parking lot. At least they've got a security guy out there from time to time. They're open late, until 11 I think. Employees can be hit or miss, you might get a helpful one or you might get a smart alec teen with an attitude. If you just want something fast & cheap, I'd say it's ok. A step up from Walmart. read more

We come here fairly often. The staff are always helpful...for example, today we were looking for dill in the spice section, could not find it, and an employee who appeared to be on her break helped me look in several places. Never found it, but I really appreciated her taking the time to go look with me before saying they did not have it! read more
