I remember when it was a small…read moreone-room terminal for Cascade Airlines; a plane so small you couldn't stand up inside and they had to seat you evenly throughout the plane to properly distribute the weight. I also remember the excitement of a new terminal being built, a real terminal! They've also recently expanded their runway, hopefully, so smoother jets can fly in, like Alaska's Embraer E175. For now, it's only Bombardier Q400 that fly in and out. It's important to know that the folks behind the Alaska counter do EVERYTHING! It's actually fun to see the person who confirmed your seat assignment and took your luggage also be guiding the plane to its unload spot. That means the counter does close 20-30 minutes before your flight takes off. Just because it's a small airport doesn't mean you still shouldn't get there an hour before your flight leaves. Now let's talk about the TSA side of the operation. Honestly, they are hit and miss. I have TSA PRECHK, which I'm happy to say Wenatchee does somewhat honor. Before my last trip, you stood in line with everyone else but didn't have to take your shoes off. Now, they have a special line, which nobody was using during my last trip. However, every time I fly out of Wenatchee, I've been called for a secondary screening. They say it's random, but if that's true, I which they had a lottery machine inside the waiting room. I've never been called for a secondary screening at any other airport where I've used TSA PRECHK. For the most part, the TSA agents are friendly, but it's also hit and miss. Some are super nice, others act like they're on a power trip, but that can be any airport. Also, EVERY time I leave EAT, they inspect my luggage. I can honestly say, in the past 10 years of flying out of Wenatchee, they have opened my bag and placed a little flyer inside letting me know it was inspected. This is the only airport this happens, and I live in California where I can fly out of a variety of airports. The cafe was closed during my last visit, I assume because of Covid. Hopefully, they'll be allowed to open soon as they also have a small selection of sundries and snacks. There are no snacks or drinks served on the short flight to Seattle, so if you're hungry, bring your own. I was disappointed during my last trip that the tables in the waiting area had been removed. I loved being able to pull out my laptop and get a little work done. The free wi-fi is a nice touch for a small airport.

It all started when I had to return a shirt. Priced the return in my FedEx account and it was just…read moreunder$10 for FedEx Ground. Just for fun, I pulled up USPS.com to see what it would cost. $5.25 for 2-day insured, alerts and trackable - and they even provide a free small box to send it in. Took just a few minutes to register an account and print my pre-paid label. I give their web site 5-stars - you can do just about everything here. Then I took my return item and prepaid label down to our Chelan Post Office. Even though the shipping box would be free, I was told to bring my own strapping tape, because they sell that. When I got to the office, the postmaster saw me waiting, opened another window. He took my label, folded together the flat cardboard box, inserted my return stuff, sealed the box, and even offered to attach the label for me. This is the Post Office- folks. 5-stars for the web site. 5 stars for customer service at Chelan P.O. Maybe there is hope for USPS after all - this is a Big Step in the right direction. It is a major chore to find any spot, let alone a handicap parking spot. Come on USPS! You charge us tons to mail 1 letter. My only purpose in coming here was to seek out a store that was listed as open on Yelp, Google and the mall's website, only to find that it had been permanently closed, as I'd expected (since they'd announced their nationwide closure a few months prior), but hoped was correct. Sadly, it wasn't. There may be a few useful stores left here (B&BW, Ross, Macy's, etc), but the rest are likely to eventually sink below the surface, as the seemingly unstoppable rise of Amazon continues to grow until it overflows its banks, and drowns out all other competition.

We were going for a motorcycle ride (me in the sidecar on my uncle's motorcycle) and stopped so I could see where the station was located. My aunt also checked her gloves - they are heated gloves to keep her hands warm from the wind and the cold while driving her motorcycle. In the winter the mountain passes can get dangerous with all the snow, so if I want to visit them this is where I would take the train to and they would pick me up/drop me off. We were going to take a few photos together, but with the motorcycle helmet on my head I misinterpreted this as my aunt and uncle asking if I needed to use the restroom... Next time! Next to the train platform is a parking lot with a number of spaces to park one's vehicle or motorcycle. A sign and informational board provide a little information about the station and Amtrak more generally. There is a small restroom (port-a-potti style) near the platform. Located a short drive from downtown Leavenworth, the station is easy to access and lacks noise pollution. Mountains are visible from the station, making it quite a serene place to catch or depart from a train especially if you need to wait off the train at the station.

I get up to the cashier, and they say, "NO EBT!" Wait, what, no EBT?? Are you kidding me??? All I have is EBT. I'm sure there are a TON of people who only have EBT as their method of payment. I felt discriminated against, because I am positive I am not the only person to have EBT as their only payment method. I mean, really?? There's nothing like having to take the walk of shame to put your stuff back. I feel it's important to use this platform as a means of change. Please, make EBT a payment method. Maybe Ernie doesn't care what their poor patrons have to say, but it sure feels like it. There are some great things I can say about this place, but until they make it so everyone can pay, then the stars stay as-is. To clarify, this was my second visit to Ernie's, and they didn't have EBT as a method of payment. I thought maybe it was a one-off, but when I came back and the no EBT sign was still up, I thought, "maybe this is how they do things." Ernie's, you need to make this right.
