Walked in during lunchtime, and I didn't expect the line to be this long. There are two kiosks and two cash registers. They should've had one register open for the customers to make the line move. There's another area where you wait for your order to be done, and they call out your name or number. I wasn't impressed at all by the service. For the food, I ordered the salad, which was on the back of the paper menu. I got the chickpea chicken bowl. It was pretty good. It had mojo thigh (boneless chicken thigh), brown rice, lemon kale, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, roasted peppers, feta, crispy chickpeas, and red pepper Tahini. The 1/2 chicken platter is one of the absolute best deals in midtown that is sure to satisfy big eaters. For $20 you get a real, large, properly cooked half chicken with 3 sides. 3 sides are excessive but you get them. You can add corn bread for $1.45. FGC seems to have taken a downturn in quality recently. They've significantly decreased the amount of protein per bowl and simultaneously increased the price. The chicken tenders are dry as a bone. You need more than 2 sauces to make them edible. The French fries were also dry. On the list of worst fries. Avoid. The chicken thigh meat was also dry. How? Was it's sitting out for days? It was served on top of dried out quinoa. The Mac and cheese is like velveeta boxed but with way too many panko bread crumbs which again - made it dry. The smashed potatoes were absolutely inedible. So salty with an unidentifiable horrible non- potato taste. It was like vinegar - like they were spoiled. They were also dark brown. Ick. After hearing about this being not only great for gluten-free (theres so many options they label what you can't have, rather than what you can!) and the fact this is one of the few places in NY I found which could do grilled chicken, I was really excited to try Fields Good Chicken which is a short walk away from the United Nations and Times Square in NYC. They do have four locations - this is the one right by Grand Central on East 40th. The staff here seemed friendly, they seemed knowledgeable about what I could and couldn't eat and even let me try a few of the sauces to pick the one I liked - so far so good. I went for the 1/4 Breast 2 Sides Elote-Style Corn Steamed Herb Potatoes Tangy BBQ Sauce - as this came to $12.50 + tax, I expected it to be a plate of a 1/4 chicken with the sides, and the fact I didn't order a "bowl" which was also selected however they served the chicken already cooked (rather than what most other people have got on here) and it wasn't even a generous 1/4 portion sadly - the sauce was cold on the side - I really thought this would have been heated up and added onto the chicken, especially as I did ask what sauces they have to go on the chicken. The herbed potatoes side was just okay, they did have some nice flavour from the herbs but the corn mix had a horrible flavour I just didn't like - and again it was stone cold, I'm guessing it was supposed to be like that which is the first time I've been given corn like that. To be fair, the chicken was pretty good even if it didn't come how I'd expected it and even if the sauce was good, and so were the staff which is the only reason for the extra star but for what it is I do find this place to be rather confusing and expensive, while also considering quality issues with another part of my meal, I feel albeit deserved, two-stars is slightly generous. read more

The chicken was juicy and well seasoned, nice portion. Cornbread is soo good, can't go wrong when it's still delivered warm. I tried the cauliflower with cotija and almonds and the roasted sweet potatoes. Both were delicious. Didn't taste too much cotija on the cauliflower but the sweet potatoes were roasted perfectly. Portions on the sides were on the smaller side, definitely more for 3 people. Overall, a great meal. I got the quarter chicken with two sides for about 10 bucks and felt that the chicken was tiny and just average. The sides of roasted broccoli and Mexican corn was quite good but again, the portions were just meh for me. I was surprised to see that half a chicken was in the upper teens. There are plenty of gluten free options so for those with such allergies keep that in mind. They also have a selection of sides and sauces to complement your meal. Normally, I order my chicken in a bowl. My favorites include the Bueno Bowl (mojo chicken, brown rice, black beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, and maple chipotle sauce) and Zeus (mojo chicken, brown rice, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickled onions, and tzatziki).
