ET is filled with the most killer selection of things for every budget. My kids are new to surfing,…read moreso we're all still learning what's necessary and what isn't in terms of gear. What is immediately apparent once you walk into ET is just how much every single employee there genuinely wants to help you out however you need. There's zero pushy sales bs, and nothing but genuine interaction. We ended up getting a Ripcurl spring suit, some Sticky Bumps, and checking out their huge selection of boards. I was anxious to get a "real" board, but the guy helping us was kind enough to tell me to slow my roll. My kids are on Wavestormers and still getting a feel for it, and the guy suggested not to rush them past that stage. Much appreciated advice, and it means I am 1000% coming back to ET when they *are* ready for new boards. There's a reason places like ET have been open for decades--they're doing it right in every respect.

The store operated out of Adrian (and roommates)'s garage and has since then expanded to multiple locations in Southern Cali. You can find out more from their website. Anyway, I bought my first (well, my only) surfboard from Adrian -- A Phase One epoxy 7'6" funboard "Blue Classic Stripe" for a great deal (board, bag and leash) and I love it. It's the best board for me - perfect size and it fits my needs as a major beginner/kook/novice... que girl-term for Barney. Adrian represents five local shapers from Southern California, cutting down on the costs of your board, but never sacrificing quality. He's got a crazy amount of stock to meet your surfing (even non-surfing) needs - wetsuits, fins, board racks, booties, leashes, fun/long/short/indo boards, travel accessories, skateboards, body boards, watches, clothing, backpacks, etc. etc. the list goes on. He even has used surfboards available and can even hook it up with a CUSTOM board that'll fit your specifications (color material design shape etc)! If you want a unique, good quality board (or any of the other things I mentioned) without breaking the bank, check out Phase One Surf online or on site. Give him a call and he'll hook it up for sure. What more can I say? Adrian is the cheese to my surfing macaroni. =D

Anyway a friend casually suggested I try Rider Shack to repair my board. The guy taking in my board couldn't have been nicer and then he uttered the famous surfboard shop repair claim, "It shouldn't take more than 2 weeks'. Sure I thought to myself. But guess what? Approximate 9 days later I got my board back (!) and it was so well repaired I tipped the guy a few dollars to give to the repair guy, Jose, since I was so impressed. The capper was this. When I brought the board in I had forgotten to take the fins that the guy took off before taking in board for repair. I had forgotten I had left them at shop and searched my car throughout and then thought I must have forgotten the fins at the shop. So I called and Jeff (the owner) quickly found them and gave them to me. He even gave me an extra fin screw just in case I had lost mine. These guys rule.
