After over a dozen visits, I must say that Feuerwehr-Wagner deserves 4 stars although both the service and food can be on occasion inconsistent.
Feuerwehr-Wagner is one of the typical Vienna Heurigers located in Grinzing neighborhood of the 19th district.
I had everything that is and isn't on the menu and most of the dishes are between 3.5 and 4 stars. Here are some highlights:
- Heuriger appetizers - mostly 4 stars, with a variety of cheese spreads, cheeses, cold cuts, olives, peppers, etc. A good way to start your late summer afternoon.
- Meats - standard heuriger offering - mostly pork and when fresh out of the oven, very delicious - that makes all the difference, so make sure you get the stuff that just got taken out of the oven otherwise it gets really dry and tough when sitting in the food warmer too long.
- Salads - mostly good although the choice is rather limited.
- Fried/made to order dishes - the schnitzel is 3.5 stars, the fried swiss cheese is good (what's not to like - it's cheese and it's fried).
- Desserts - 4 stars. What I don't like is that they warm up their strudels in a microwave, which kind of ruins the dish.
- Beverages - wines are regular heuriger wines, so don't expect any high end stuff.
Other things to know - they have an enormous back yard for outside seating, with gerat ambiance - as said, this place is best enjoyed in summer. If you have kids, they have a big playground, so you can sit, eat and drink for hours and your kids won't bother you.
Feuerwehr-Wagner also helps you organize birthday parties, celebrations and other get-togethers. Although kind of pricey it may be worth it. read more
