We chose Helping Hands Pest Control for our crawlspace encapsulation, and we couldn't be happier…read morethat we did. Out of six different contractors, Ryan and Helping Hands fell in the median in terms of price, so that wasn't really the deciphering factor in our decision. A huge factor was Ryan himself showing up multiple times in the quoting process to deliver the information to us in person and answer any questions we had. If you choose Helping Hands for any services they offer (crawlspace encapsulation, termite inspection/remediation, insulation etc..), you will note the "personal touch" element they bring to the table. When you are trying to decide who to entrust with your home, and with your financial investment, knowing they are willing to come and speak to you in person, no matter how many times, is extremely influential.
Now, lets talk about the quality of work done. Helping Hands was willing to accommodate to our specific requests, such as using a thicker poly than standard. Throughout the encapsulation processes, we were continually informed and told "we will do the job to your satisfaction, no matter what". This speaks huge volumes about this company, you simply don't hear anyone promise complete satisfaction these days-only clauses, exceptions, and limited liability. Helping hands used quality materials throughout the job as well, which we felt was very important when we were making such an investment ourselves.
No review is balanced without mentioning some opportunities. Helping Hands is still an up and coming business, and sometimes they are stretched thin. With that, if you have the patience and are flexible in timing, then don't hesitate to use Helping Hands. There were multiple times during our project when we were told someone would be on-site, which simply didn't happen due to delays or other jobs taking longer than expected. With that, without exception, Ryan would call us to inform us of the delay and was always very apologetic. Again, if an absolute drop dead due date isn't crucial to you, then the quality of work, personal touch, and accommodating nature of Helping Hands will certainly outweigh any negatives.
Below are some before and after pictures from the work done by Helping Hands.
Before the job (6mil poly, wet and falling insulation, suspect growth on joists, musty odor, and over 95% humidity levels)
After the job (20 mil poly, wet insulation removed and no longer needed due to a full encapsulation, hand cleaned and sealed joists, Santa Fe Compact 2 dehumidifier, Borafoam 2.5 thick foam board behind poly, no odor, 50% humidity.)
