Their customer service has been impeccable and their budget program has made propane gas affordable, considering our house is plumbed for liquid propane. We've chosen to have on-call deliveries and the truck always arrives on one of its two preset delivery days for our area. About three years ago a house with propane gas heating blew up a few lots away from us. CHS sent an inspector to our house and others on our road who buy propane from them) to check our system and to give us peace of mind that it was safe and all pipe fittings were safe and tight. There are a lot of propane companies out there. We're very happy with CHS.

I never signed up with Suburban Propane. I had service from PacWest & they were 5 star. They were…read more"forced/priced" to "retire". I called PW for a refill and SP answered the call. Suburban Propane's 1st story was PW 'went out of business' & SP had 'taken over' all PW customers. Their refill quote in February was triple the price of propane at gas stations, due to my 'low consumption'; they said. I told them to pound sand and make an appointment with me for tank removal asap. They did not do this. They have sent several tank rental fee letters with past due charges now. They offered no proof of ownership of the tank, no past, current or new contract, nothing but a bill. I called again to refute the charge & they said tank removal would cost me $150; 50% more than a year of rent, conveniently. This is America and I will choose who provides my services. They did not acknowledge my first conversation, their story NOW was PW owner "retired". Tank rental & past due charges came after I refused any business with them and told them to retrieve the tank! I should send them a past due STORAGE fee! SP does not own the contract I had with PacWest. I shopped around before I got any propane and found SP had very low ratings. I have now purchased a 60 gallon tank and fill at a station. I am a 64 year old & have a handyman assist. SP's practices would likely cost 2 to 3 times or EVEN MORE than necessary. I am not going thru this with another small local company. It is a good thing propane is for hot water and the gas range only. SP downplayed all their negative reviews. THIS IS AMERICA & unfortunately capitalism can mean the big invisible corporation will force the 5 star local businesses out & jack prices up each time they gobble up another. Self Protection is what SP should stand for; BUYER BEWARE. Thank goodness for YELP! I was lucky to have read up on SP. The sound of my head popping out of nowhere land was LOUD. My hope is that PacWest customers do not feel pushed into SP and that they have no options. Do not say yes, do not sign, do accept propane, do not pay for rental or removal to a company you did not contract with. Ask them to remove your info from your records. When I called CHS Propane, I did not have much hope of getting a propane delivery any time soon…read more Because of the power outage on Bainbridge, we had to use propane to power my husband's oxygen concentrator. Our two propane tanks were not full, but we thought there was plenty for one or two days without electric service. As the hours progressed, we began to worry about the tanks running dry. My husband has IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis), which is a progressive disease affecting the lungs. He needs oxygen 24/7 and is not very mobile. If the condenser stopped producing, we were down to using cylinders and we did not have many left. One cylinder or e-tank lasts about 2 hours. We would have to leave our home, take the concentrator with us and find some place to stay. I called our previous oxygen supplier but was told it would be some time next week before we could get a refill. If we were younger this would not have been as stressful, but for an 81-year-old, it was very difficult to figure out what we would do. We also have two small dogs, so along with the concentrator, the dogs and all my husband's meds, plus his stringent diet, (because of the meds), it was a big problem, it seemed like we had a mountain to climb. I reached Austin, at CHS, and told him my problem. He put me on hold and made a call, then told me he could get me a delivery the next morning. I was so relieved. I drove out to Cenex in Poulsbo and the people there were also super nice as I filled out a form for the delivery. Austin would have sent it to me via email but our internet service was also down. They said we were on the schedule, and not to worry. Last night our electric service was restored, a very happy moment, but the tanks were very low, so this morning, first thing, the CHS Propane truck showed up and filled the tanks. The young man driving The truck was so efficient and filled our tanks, but refused to take a check, I figured they would send us a bill. This afternoon, Austin called and told me that they would not take any payment for this delivery due to the stress and worry we had endured. I tried to tell him that we were happy to pay and were so relieved to get the delivery and not have to move to a motel (which I had already booked), that we wanted to pay them for their service. He would not relent, so we will pay it forward.
