Looking for a smog check last minute, I found Fernando's online. They had a last-minute cancellation at 11:45 AM. I had a hard time finding it because it's very much hidden away on a tiny street called Olney. I arrived at 11:58, had my smog certificate in hand by noon! What great service! The charge was $70. They also do oil changes and break checks, etc. They said for an oil change that would include looking at all the fluids and checking everything out, the price is about 110. This is a really nice locally owned business. It's very small. What I like is that they were available when they said they'd be. The gentleman who assisted me was very nice and professional! I come back and forth from New York and finally got a car here. I got notice from DMV that stated I need a Smog Test which being from NYC, I was not familiar with. After doing a little research, I found Fernando. I called and he said he had an opening at 3:45pm. I took it. I got to his shop at 3:30pm and met Fernando who is a very courteous, nice gentleman. Had my 95k oil change at Fernando's on Wednesday morning. When I arrived around 9:15am there was one other customer, and I was able to pull up and have the speedy service begin right away. Fernando and his associate were friendly and efficient as they drained my existing oil, checked coolant, water, and air filters. My car was given a clean bill of health and I spent just shy of $100 overall on the synthetic oil change for my 2012 Honda Fit. Inside the office there is a water cooler if you're thirsty, and an all-gender bathroom. There's also an outdoor sitting area with a shade umbrella and small table, so you have options for where to wait. By 9:45am things were getting busy--two other customers were waiting and another drove in and then left (hoping for immediate service, I guess.) One note: this smog station isn't STAR certified, so if California requires you to have a smog check at at STAR center, you'll need to go elsewhere. I'm pleased with the work and will certainly return for my 100k oil change and spark plugs, if I'm in town. They informed me the brakes were still good and reccomended a tire rotation instead. Did the tire rotation and the car feels much better. Good choices were made today. You "auto"-know to look no further than Fernando's for all manner of automotive repairs, maintenance, glass or just your run-of-the-mill smog check or oil change! With a convenient location off of Fairview near Hollister, Juan and Fernando fit me in for a last minute smog-check, and went above and beyond! After initially being quoted $70 and over an hour and a half wait at the Jiffy Lube a couple blocks up the road, I made the small business/local-economy supporting and fiscally responsible decision to take my Subaru up the road two blocks to Fernando's. There was no wait, and within literally 10 minutes, (rest assured I'm using the term "literally" correctly) my Smog-Check was complete, DMV notified, and smog-check paid-at $20 less than Jiffy Lube! Not only that, but upon checking my oil, they found I was a couple quarts low and topped me off free of charge! The cost of parts and labor are incredibly reasonable, premises were clean, prices more than reasonable, and staff were skilled and beyond helpful. Fernando saved my bacon during the Covid lockdown. My registration was due and I needed the dreaded song check to get it done. Most places were closed but Fernando was open and doing appropriate social distancing style smog checks :-) Fernando's is a bit hard to find but just look for the Mission Ready Mix (cement plant) and he's right down at the end of that road on the left.
