My daughter's Kia limped in unannounced. A couple of parts needed to be ordered and took a few days to arrive. A & E checked in with us each day and kept us up to date. Excellent customer service. Thanks Edgar & Dannon! read more

This review is long over due but I wanted to write the great service we received from A & E Automative. We called Dannon for a maintenance and tire checks and she was able to fit us in quickly. She was very pleasant and informative. The shop did a thorough job and was even able to change a back light for us that was added in the end of the service. They gave us documents to show the condition of our car which made it understannle what work were needed to be done for our car. read more

Called to see about a smog check and whomever answered the phone acted like it was an inconvenience to have called. At that point I knew they wouldn't have my business but I still asked if we can look at appt times since he made sure to tell me as rude as possible that they only do them between 8-12. AGAIN , like I was supposed to know that telepathically. Businesses like this don't deserve hard working folks money. Go elsewhere read more

Very professional and a great team. Able to diagnose my car quickly and order parts needed and received the following day. Appreciated the quick turn around time. read more

Don't sell your older car! A & E has kept my 29 year old Honda running like a top, and quietly, too. Just passed smogging easily. They've always been courteous and thorough, and don't try to sell me what I don't really need. Completely satisfied with the work and customer service for many years. read more

Love this crew... very friendly and responsive, and the quality of their work is always good.

Nice folks to work with, especially like their comprehensive communication from Danon, Edgar and staff.

I have been taking my car to A & E for a number of years, and have always been satisfied with their work and customer service. They keep my car in perfect running order and I always appreciate the photos which support the services they performed. Customer service is something hard to come by, but you will find it here with their friendly, knowledgeable staff. read more

Going to make A&E my ONLY source for all future auto service and repairs. Thank you Dannon and Edgar for your service, courtesy and professionalism. read more

Extremely good customer service and great communication. I came to them with my car not knowing what was wrong with it but they were quickly able to diagnose it and update me with cost and estimated time of repair. Pricing seemed fair they definitely won't rip you off (They provide photo evidence). read more

The whole crew and experience was really old school Americana pride in your work and care for the client. Well done and SB County is really blessed to have them! I was getting ready to drive to Nashville and I started having weird electrical issues and Edgar and Dannon were so hospitable! Dannon went over my whole battery replacement and oil change line by line with diagnostics and pictures. I came in same day and left same day - I've never! You you can tell that they really enjoy what they do and are incredibly honest. Feel comfortable to take care of any vehicle of any sort here! I have a Honda pilot 2017 that is my baby and I am so grateful that she is up and running again! Update: Talk about old school client care, and then next business day Dannon messaged to ask how things are going! Wow, talk about going the extra mile! Thank you all for taking such good care of me, and in such fast timing when you guys were already so so busy! read more

We've been customers of A&E for 3-1/2 years and have nothing but outstanding things to say about its service and definitely the employees. Thorough, honest, and attentive service. You will NEVER regret it if you choose A&E as your mechanics! Susan H. read more

Super nice and very helpful staff, Edgar was amazing! Will definitely come again and recommend to all my friends!

Came to A&E for the second time to get My DMV-required SMOG Inspection done. Edgar is still here, and things seem to be operating just as smoothly and friendly as they did the last time I was here. But it appears they remodeled the front of their office to be a really nice lobby and waiting area (see attached pic). Policies and SMOG Pricing are posted neatly and clearly. There is a large display above and behind the counter giving customers visibility into what the service agent is doing. This is an AMAZING example of transparency and I wish more businesses would do this. read more

A&E Automotive have worked on 2 of our vehicles for over 4 years!! Even though I have had the pleasure of mostly working with the amazing Edgar, they have other excellent mechanics that have always been professional and a trues pleasure to interact with! Dannon and the office staff provide superior customer service with timely, clear and reliable communication. I sincerely appreciate how they keep us updated and once service is completed, they follow up to make sure we are completely satisfied. They call, email and text, which all make it easy to with busy life schedules. I have no knowledge of mechanical parts, labor pricing etc, but I have always had 100% trust, confidence, and complete satisfaction in whatever they quote/ charge for the excellent work. I also appreciate that they present alternative options to meet our budget. Edgar, Dannon and all the amazing team members at A & E Automotive, I can't thank you enough for your advice, integrity, reliability and the quality work you all do. You have life long loyal customers in Jeff and I!!! Sincerely, Mary read more

I have a 13 year old car that had never had the fluids replaced. All the fluids needed to be replaced: transmission, brake, A/C coolant, radiator, oil. As a single woman, I never know if I'm going to be taken advantage of. I was so relieved to see that A&E is owned by a couple, and the wife, Dannon, runs everything. I never once felt that I was being encouraged to get services I really didn't need- which happens with male mechanics who take advantage of my lack of knowledge about cars. Dannon understands the intricacies of all the services she provides- She knows cars! Put your car in the hands of Dannon and her great team. You will not be disappointed. read more

Amazing how quickly time flies when you continue to have your cars regularly serviced here at A&E. After finding them four years ago it's nice to have them as a reliable automobile service center. Most recently we've had the pleasure of working with Edgar and Mike. Both very helpful in making sure we get all the important servicing information we need. Also nice to talk to Dannon on the phone to help scheduled auto servicing and/or required smog checks. And even with their busy schedules, they are always good at getting us in for service as it's needed. read more

Let me start by saying that trust is one of the most important qualities I need from my auto repair shop. I have dealt with A&E a number of times and I implicitly trust them. In addition quality repairs that are weighted by necessity is essential. I can always count on A&E to prioritize my auto repair needs to guide my repair approvals. This is a high quality auto maintenance & repair shop that has earned my highest regard and recomendation. read more

If you are reading this look no further. They are 100% amazing, and they stand by their work. And the prices are reasonable (like the old saying goes "you get what you pay for") and they went above and beyond to make sure that everything went well. Thank you to Dannon and the rest of the staff for helping my daughter out while she is attending UCBS. You guys are again amazing. read more

I can't thank this mechanic enough! I bought a car from a dealer "as is," and just three months later the engine failed. He was upfront and honest with me from the start, explained everything clearly, and even gave me advice he didn't have to. Although he doesn't usually do engine replacements, he was willing to take the risk to help me out. Most importantly, he suggested I go directly to Ford to check for warranty coverage and thanks to his honesty, I ended up getting a brand-new engine at no cost! I truly appreciate his knowledge, transparency, and willingness to go above and beyond. I'll definitely be coming back here for all my car needs in the future and refer all my girlfriends and family here !! read more

Tip-top service over the last several years. Only problem is that is words gets around they get busier and busier!

Very thorough. It's very nice to have a trustworthy mechanic. Getting updates during the process is helpful. Not inexpensive, but absolutely worth it knowing my car is in good hands. read more

These guys were wonderful! Got me in right away, showed me pictures of exactly what they were doing, bid was right on target. They even picked me up from the train station & called to make sure everything was running well. Highly recommend! read more

Called Dannon regarding a bad starter. She had me bring it in early the next morning. They performed a complimentary comprehensive checkup which identified the most serious issue with the car. After a discussion with Dannon we determined what was most critical to fix at this moment (no pressure and all very helpful). I am happy to say that the car is functioning just fine now and would highly recommend this business. They are very thorough, professional, and very personable. read more

A&E is fantastic. I moved to the area a couple years ago and at first I brought my vehicle to Jiffy, which... was a mistake. Then I came to A & E. I love that they provide me with a full inspection report of my vehicle with accompanying pictures so that there's absolute transparency with what's wrong with my car and the recommendations that they're making. Edgar was quick to get in touch with me about my vehicle status and provide explanations for any of their recommendations as well. When it came down to getting the work done, Edgar and Dannon- along with another mechanic whose name I unfortunately do not know (sorry)-stayed until well after closing to finish up my car so I could get it back the same day. As far as value goes-I'd say that A&E is a pretty good value, especially considering the area. Goleta/SB are not cheap for pretty much anything. I think you also have to consider peace of mind and trust when it comes to value. Other places I've been, I've often felt like I just get told about a sudden onslaught of things that are wrong with my vehicle, or am constantly offered services that provide very little actual benefit to my vehicle. I've never felt that with A&E, both Dannon and Edgar take the time to explain and diagnose what's up with your vehicle and make suggestions without the feeling like I'm being pressured or predated on, so I know that they're actually doing right by me when I go and because of that, I'll continue to go. read more

Competent and friendly people. Daughter and I were visiting from out of town when her CEL light came on. Called to see if they could squeeze us in before the long trip home. These nice folks were able to accommodate our tight schedule and got my daughter back on the road. I cannot tell you how much we appreciate that level of service in this day and age. Thank you, A & E! read more

Great shop and expert care for my truck maintenance. I made a mistake in my description of my truck problem and they were 100% supportive and provided great customer service to help me understand the issue. Highly recommend for truck maintenance work. Very professional. read more

I'm from out of town, so when my check engine light came on, I needed a shop that would provide quick, quality service. Edgar and the crew are great. They gave me a whole inspection, with pictures, of my car with a rundown of its current issues and recommended services and their estimated. I got the car back just in time to leave right on schedule! Awesome shop that I would recommend to anyone. read more

I have been a consistent customer of A&E Automotive since 2021 when I first moved to Santa Barbara. I have dealt with some major repair jobs such as a blown head gasket, in which A&E worked on for me. I have a 1992 Toyota which tends to have problems as all old vehicles do, yet A&E has managed to keep my car running and in great shape for years now. Edgar and Dannon are communicative, honest, and thorough. I trust this place- they are not scammers! read more

My Subaru Outback power steering suddenly went out in Goleta and I found A&E quickly on the Web. I was VERY lucky. Owner Dannon and Chief Mechanic Edgar did a great job fixing the problem but gave my vehicle a thorough once-over and a comprehensive report, including photos. I returned the following week to begin working through the list of items that needed attention on this 20 year-old car. Chief Mechanic Edgar oversaw some major item repairs (transmission service and front drive axles replacements) and I will return for more work on the list. I feel A&E is honest and very collaborative in their customer attention. I would highly recommend them. read more

A&E Automotive that is located in Goleta off of pine street which is owned by DANNON STORM Is one big fat money pit. I needed repairs on my car which I purchased in April my car has been back to her shop total of 6 times. This last time they got my car the first week in August I just received it back 2 maybe 3 weeks ago and it's still not running correctly she gave me paperwork saying that they put $6000 worth of work into my car and it does not run When I phoned her on November 14th 2024 and toader that the car kept turning off she told me that it's all in the paperwork so do not go to A&E automotive go somewhere else. The first time I dropped my car off to them, They had it at their shop for well over 2 weeks when it was time for me to pick the car up they told me that I needed an engine I asked him how much for used engine they told me 3500 when I looked at my invoice they only paid $1600 for the use engine. At that time I phoned her at the shop we talked she left work that day she came to my house and she brought me a check for $2000 when I continue to look at the bill again where they overcharge me she brought me another check for $2000 so believe me check your invoices because A&E automotive just wants to take your money. This last time they had my car since the first week of August they returned it to me 2 weeks ago they gave me an invoice that says they put $6000 worth the work in the car and guess what 3 days later check engine soon light came on and now the car is pulling back. read more

Like another reviewer wrote - "Look no further"! When we moved here a couple of years ago my daughter referred us to A&E for routine (and some not so much) work on our SUV. Their customer service is exceptional and the service is spot on. We get reports, pictures and descriptions of everything they did and why! Can't recommend them highly enough and I would add more stars to this review if I could. read more

FRIENDLY and HONEST A&E is the autoshop that actually cares about you. I took my car in for a brake issue and got it back with the most in depth inspection I have ever had, completely free. I've never had a complaint about their prices and always feel like I can trust them 100%. Now I almost look forward to my car breaking just so I can bring it right back to A&E!! read more

Dannon and her team did a great job on my husband's car. I brought in his car to fix some nuisance issues like the AC, and we ended up discovering a few other little problems. They were very efficient with the repairs, and charged a reasonable price. Additionally, their service was very responsive and communicative. I was aware at all times of where we were standing and had say in the repair process. Her service really made the experience stand out for us. Thank you! read more

Had my Toyota Sienna 2006 AWD serviced here that needed a radiator and timing belt replacement. A&E took me in on short-notice where other mechanics turned me away. The job ended up taking longer than expected but A&E was willing to pay for my car rental to make-up for the delay. Despite being a new customer from outside Santa Barbara County, Edgar paid special attention to my repair needs and didn't rush the process or leave the job half-done despite the hiccups that came with my older vehicle. They also made sure to take before & after photos of every step for transparency and I was very impressed by the report I was given when I picked up my vehicle, breaking down the repairs that were done and recommendations for future repairs. The pricing rates were fair. It has been about 2-weeks, and the car drives better than ever. Only note for improvement I would make is to improve the daily communication. A&E does tell you the approximate date when the vehicle will be finished, but keeps you in the dark during the in-between dates. I'm just being nit-picky here, but would've been nice to have 1-daily update of the repair process (i.e. parts ordered, vehicle in the service line, delays, etc.) via text or voicemail. However, at the end of the day, you want a mechanic that does the job right for the right price, and A&E does this well. Will be coming for future repairs. read more

Guys, A & E is the Goat! When I first moved to Santa Barbara I was just a broke college boy and my car was having so many problems. I got scammed at so many places and had lost hope. This place is so honest and they're all so nice. They are straight up about the problems that are wrong with you're car and they don't fool around. If something is wrong they're gonna fix it no matter what. When giving an oil change they go above and beyond and check everything with your car and let you know what might need help so you don't get screwed later. Dannon and Edger are such nice people along with the rest of their whole crew. They have saved me money, time, and my entire vehicle as a whole lol. I don't think I've ever actually left a yelp review before and I've had this app forever. A&E is perfect in every way so I've decided to write my first yelp review ever to them. I've been coming here for about 3 years now and I think it's safe to say this is the most reliable mechanic in the Santa Barbara area. Don't hesitate to go there if you need anything for your car. I'm 100 percent certain they will always get the job done. Thank you guys! read more
