I have been a customer at Fernando's Salon for about 2 years, and have had consistently excellent service. Everyone is extremely welcoming and I always leave with my hair looking great. Recently, Fernando and Carolina did wedding hair and makeup for me and several members of my bridal party. They were very helpful in the planning stages by giving me a thorough trial and helping me pick out hair extensions. On the day of the wedding, they arrived at the hotel right on time (even a little early!) and did an amazing job from that moment on. It was a bit hectic since there were people coming in and out of our suite and multiple deliveries being made, but Fernando and Carolina were true professionals. They helped make the day less stressful while making everyone look beautiful. My hair and makeup have never looked as good as that day, and the curls lasted throughout the night. I can't say thank you enough for the help on my wedding day - Definitely don't hesitate to go to Fernando's Salon. P.S. They also do lovely manicures & pedicures. :) read more

Simply the best! After going from place to place because I was unhappy with the results, I've finally found my hair salon. Everybody is extremely nice, professional, and they truly want to just make you happy. I recommend this place 1000%. LOVE LOVE LOVE Fernando! I have been a customer here for about 3 years and I am really upset that I did not find him sooner. I only get my hair cut every 6-8 months. Fernando is always super friendly and attentive. I am always asked upon entering what kind of wine I would like! Definitely someone that I will always come back to. Priced as expected! (cash only!) read more

I don't recommend for styling. Maybe for simple touch ups of an already established hairstyle. My haircut was so bad that I got a sorry with the excuse "accidents happen in any field". Not even the salon wanted to take accountability for how bad they messed up. My layers were extremely choppy and uneven. There was no continuity. People were shocked how bad my hair was & couldn't believe there was a stylist out there that would do that to someone. read more

There are a lot of salons and barbershops in the Woodside area and I've tried a good amount of them. In my opinion, Fernando's is the best. He really listens to you and makes you feel awesome! The haircuts I've gotten here have been some of my favorites and I recommend them to everyone I know. It might not be for everyone but if a great service where you're heard matters, I suggest going to Fernando. read more

Fernando's Salon - After a wash & dry!! Thank u Fernando's salon - Hair Salons Near Me - Woodside, New York

Went to Fernando's Salon a couple months ago to have him fix the butcher job done on my hair from a salon in Manhattan. I have extensively curly/thick hair and he handles it so well! I wanted a lob because my curls always grow faster on the sides making it look like I have a curly hair mullet. I was so satisfied with Fernando's work I walked in yesterday not wanting anyone else to touch my hair because it grew in so wonderfully. I'm retired navy and have been going back and forth to Fernando for years. I should have never gone to see anyone else in New York City!!! If you have curly hair and need a stylist you can trust, leave it to Fernando. The atmosphere of the salon is so relaxed & enjoyable! Everyone who works there is so personable and enjoyable to chat with. Which makes your visit that much more pleasant! read more

Fernando's salon is the only place I trust with my hair. Fernando is by far the best in the city. I've been coming to him for about 7 years for cut and highlights. His is the only salon to ever correctly do highlights on me. After the expensive designer salons in the city fried my hair with their expensive highlights, I needed to find someone else and was referred to Fernando by a friend who has been a client of his for over 15 years. He is also fabulous at cutting layers, especially for those with unmanageable curly hair like myself. Monica is also great at manicures and pedicures. I will never go anywhere else. I'm so glad I found this salon! read more

Wonderful place. Very friendly and kind employees. My whole family will continue to go here.

So my preferred place of hair sexin-up is Graceland, but alas, I can not afford it. So I yelp places nearby and huzzah! Fernando's pops up. I had heard good things about him before and it turns out it's a ten minute walk from me. I literally made my appointment 15 min from when I called since he had a cancellation. Fernando is a very warm, talented hair stylist. The only reason I won't give this place 5 stars is because he left some very short hairs on my bangs. Nothing personal, most hair dressers tend to do that. But he really does beautiful work, and I paid about 40 bucks since I didn't style it. Too hot. All in all, will def go again while my finances are tight. Come here if you'd like a very charismatic latin man to make you look and feel pretty. read more

I need a trim...bad. For those that read my review about me looking like Joan Jett, you'll agree it was time to cut. I stumble upon Fernandos and step in. I'm greeted with big smiles and warm hellos. I get settled and get my hair washed. Diana chats me up and is super nice. Tiger asks me what I wanted and I just said HELP! Ha so he did. It was a little pricey for what I wanted done, but I will go back hopefully with more direction on my next cut. $60 for "long hair" is a bit steep for a small shop in Woodside. read more

Fernando's salon is the best in not just Woodside, but in all of NYC! I'm a hair, wig & make -up artist for Broadway and TV, including SNL and I trust them with my look implicitly! Not only is Fernando an artist and an unbelievable technician, but an amazing human being! His staff is amazing Carolina is talented and so is Monica as a wonderful manicurists. Angel is the beautiful face of the salon. If you come to this salon you'll be in the best hands possibly artistically and in fabulous friendship! read more

Okay, so this is my first review on Yelp and it is well deserved. Fernando's Salon is by far the best hair salon I have ever been to. Firstly, you are treated like part of the family, immediately upon entering you are greeted and made to feel welcome. The ambiance is great and is comparable to any overpriced manhattan salon. Secondly, Fernando is an artist, he knows exactly what he's doing and I am happy to write that the haircut he gave me was the best I've ever had, hands down; and I've spent well over $150.00 for a haircut in LA. Finally, what you get for the money. I left with a perfect haircut and eyebrow wax for $40 (excluding tip). I would recommend any manhattanite to make their way to Woodside to save money and get an amazing new look! read more

Just went to Fernando's for the first time. I love the way they did my hair! I walked in this afternoon (it is Sunday) asked to get the next possible appointment for a hair cut-- which was 45 mins later. Fernando was great at listening to what I wanted. I usually don't like the after cut styling, but he is a great job. Very happy will be returning. My wash, cut and styling was $60, but I think it was worth it. The ambiance of the place was comfortable and classy. read more

THIS is what a salon is supposed to look & feel like. Came to Fernando's for a pedicure and was blown away with the service and quality of work. If you live in the neighborhood or are just passing through, come in and let them pamper you a bit. You deserve it. read more

I've had a lot of haircuts. I've paid of lot of money. This is where I go from now on and I can't believe it's around the corner from where I live. I moved to the neighborhood one year ago and used to walk by this place confused as to what it was since it didn't look like a normal hair salon--you know those tacky salons with random pictures of haircut models? Not this place! This place is classy, tasteful and exquisite. Classic inspirational idols of Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe with smooth jazz music in the background. It almost feels like you enter their home! Definitely an amazing atmosphere for high quality hair cuts and styling. I have been twice already and I refuse to go anywhere else with my hair. I have never felt so safe and so happy before with any hairstylist until I came to Fernandos. read more

perhaps he can earn this next star if he won't try to ~maybe~ weasel his way into leaking more money from you... I am now going to him for coloring about once a month and he charges me 89dollars for it. it really is worth it since the wine is free flowing. the first month he suggested a bit of a cut to help even out some layered areas so that ended up to be about 150 complete with tip. not too bad, had to tighten my belt a bit but it wasn't that horrendous for just that once. however... the next time... I had said [because he had said 'next time we won't need to cut'] just the color. and that was fine until I see him pick up a pair of scissors. I asked him if that was a pair of scissors in his hand and he got the hint that no cut today. what first attracted me to him was the fact that he services my neighbor who is an 86 year old lady. she does not look like an 86 year old lady [no Sophia Petrillo hairdo!]. read more

A jewel in Woodside! Fernando is great - and I've been to a lot of salons in my life.

Long story short, I needed a same-day appointment and my old stylist had moved away, so I searched Yelp for somebody new nearby and found Fernando. I was able to get in within a few hours. The salon is beautiful, everybody there was friendly and understanding, and Fernando did a great job on my hair. I have fine, straight hair which is sometimes hard to do things with, but he did a great job, and my hair turns out great every day even if I don't have a lot of time to style it. If you're driving, leave yourself extra time for parking. read more

This salon seems to have a lot of drama swirling around it. The other day, a woman came in and asked to speak with the owner. After he identified himself (as Angel), she began talking. Well, I guess he didn't like what she had to say, because he stood up in the middle of her speaking, said, 'I don't have time for this,' and walked right out of the salon! I have never seen anything ruder in my life. The woman looked shocked. It was very uncomfortable. The other owner/manager looked completely indifferent, like he couldn't care less. Then, yesterday, right as I was walking by, 2 police officers went in there with disgusted looks on their faces. They stood there for a while talking with one of the owners. It's really not clear what's going on with this salon, but it does appear that the owners need to work on being more professional and concerned with how they come across, and on not upsetting people! Also, lose the legal drama. read more

Fernando and his crew are top notch. I'd give 6 stars if I could. I used to pay a lot more to get a haircut that wasn't as good as he or any of his staff gives. Excellent atmosphere. Much attention to detail and you can tell that they care which is rare these days. You will not be disappointed. read more

I was searching for a decent hair cut in Sunnyside, and I decided to try Fernando's. I had a TERRIBLE hair cut from a different salon in Sunnyside, and I needed serious help! When I entered the salon, I was impressed by the warm, energetic atmosphere. I explained to Fernando what I wanted, and showed him a photo. Even though my hair was in serious disrepair (from the previous haircut at the other salon) he was able to do exactly what I asked. My hair looks great, I've received a ton of compliments!! Needless to say, I will be returning to Fernando's for every hair cut. The entire staff was friendly and professional -Angel was a sweetie- and the price was reasonable. Thanks Fernando!! The best salon in Queens for great people, fun, laughter, music...... oh ya.... and hair cuts! Fernando is a star. Bar none.

Went their today cause the hair salon in Queens Blvd called BONJOUR European have a website with prices for kid's haircut, once I arrived, I was being kicked out. I'll write my review under it's salon. So it was 11a.m & around Sunnyside the other hair salon were closed. I ended up walking to skillman to Fernando's & what a difference of atmosphere & kindness. My daughter has tight Curly hair, long & in need of a cut. My daughter complain of headaches & I started to notice her hair; frizzy, dry- since the last haircut she had in POSH HAIR SALON located in 48street & 47 ave was horrible Today, at Fernando's, I got the style of hair I wanted & ask for. The guy was sweet letting me give him the hair products she's been using, at the age of 2 (Ouidad) & with those awesome comments he gave me of my daughters hair. Like a previous review wrote, No pictures of hair style on the windows, great relaxing music, super clean & well taken care of. At the end, my daughter looked GORGEOUSSS. read more

Let me start by saying that I had a terrific in salon experience - everyone was kind and lighthearted and truly made me feel at ease. Sadly my stylist didn't know how to work with my hair. She didn't take into account the texture of my hair making the cut almost three inches shorter once it dried. She also cut my bangs wet and they were far shorter than I asked. I asked for about two inches off my hair and ended up about 6inches shorter. I really hesitated to post a review because my stylist truly did a good cut - it just wasn't what I asked for and didn't look nice on me. I've been trying not to cry over cut hair but it makes getting out of the house take so much longer having to style my hair every time. I've started taking biotin pills in desperation to get my hair to grow back. Again - the place and staff were very nice but I would recommend being explicitly clear about what you want watch your stylist while they cut :( read more

I've been coming here for half a year now. Cash only though. When I first came here, I was immediately welcomed. They make you feel like family and want to make sure you get what you want. They're all super sweet and friendly. They treat you with care to make sure that you're happy with what you get. I have a problem with articulating what I want, so I'll sometimes take pictures and they always make sure I get what I want. I come here to get my hair cut, roots and eyebrows dyed/done, and blow outs. I always come back for a job well done and friendly customer service :) read more

I came here for a wax and pedicure. Monica does it all and she is just magical!! She's so sweet and gentle and pays attention to detail...a real professional. Fernando is very welcoming and social. He offered me scrumptious Belgian chocolates and paired it with a lovely red wine. The salon itself is beautiful inside. I can tell that Fernando takes great care in picking out the best decor pieces for the salon, giving it a very warm yet sexy ambiance. Even the music is awesome; they play everything from house music to Motown!! I highly recommend you stop in. It's a little gem in Woodside!! read more

I don't know why I have waited so long to write a review. Shame on me. I am from Austin, Texas & I have never found a salon at any price to cut my hair. Not just in NY, but many other major cities. I have natural curly hair. Every stylist I have ever encountered cannot follow the natural flow of curly hair & how it lays. I have been using Fernando exclusively for over 5 or 6 years maybe longer. I actually fly from Austin to NY to have Fernando cut & color my hair. If I am lucky & can be there on a Saturday, I have my brows done also. He blows it straight after the cut & I feel like a million dollars, especially when I am flying to the Caribbean the next day or going into the city for dinner. I also have my grown daughter from Austin have her hair done when I can get her here & my grand daughter & daughter in law from Woodside also visit Fernando.. This man can make a sexy out of a 58 year old woman. His staff is wonderful! This man is the ONLY person who touches my hair. I love your salon... read more
