I have been going to this place for a long time when I was a young man and they always got me back up on the road. I haven't been there in quite some time, but I heard the service is still great. read more

Finally had time off work to take in my 2001 suzuki grand vitera for break pads! We called ahead at around 9:45 am and Fernando was eager to get us in and fix the car! We drove in and he took the keys immedietly , had me sign a paper with my name, phone number and signature and off went the suzuki up onto the car lift. It was my birthday today so I went on a small road trip. I called fernandos and he said it was all ready to be picked up by 3:40! But the car needed an oil change, which would be an extra 35$. I asked what the total was at so far, 420$ for front break pads and rotors. He went ahead and did it all for 450$ and the car drives great! Thanks Fernandos! See you soon! read more

Fernando's Auto Repair - Auto Repair Near Me - San Rafael, California

Came here to get an oil change, and for $70 I got regular oil instead of synthetic and they didn't replace the oil filter. I watched them do the whole process which was extra insulting, basically one of the guys asked the other if he had replaced the filter and the guy said yeah yeah I did it! I saw him not doing it and I had to replace it myself afterwards. AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU VALUE YOUR VEHICLE read more

I recently had Fernando (Luis) replace the timing belt in my 1994 Subaru Legacy. The repair was challening because of the age of my car and the difficulty in getting the right part. Initially there were problems in calibrating the engine so the timing was right, but Fernando was relentless at getting to the bottom of the issue, even calling a Subaru expert in to get a 2nd opinion. No doubt, this repair was very costly to him in terms of time and effort spent, but Fernando stood by his work. Ultimately, the engine timing on my car is now smooth and it feels as if my car has gotten a second lease on life, even with nearly 200K miles on the odometer. Fernando never complained about the challenges. He had a take-charge, highly professional, can-do attitude towards fixing my car. He stands by his work and has a committment to excellence. He's a master mechanic. read more

This place is fantastic! I brought my car here after it failed a smog test in another place (the tester says the communication to his computer failed, couldn't connect). However, I did a smog check here and no problem! It passed. I doubt whether the machine in the other place down. The owner here is very great, he took a quick look into the problem and helped me immediately with my car. I will come here again read more

The proprietor of Fernando's, Luis, is as honest as they come. He helped me fight a battle with my insurance company, investing many hours into proving an elusive mechanical defect for which they were responsible. It was even questionable whether the insurance company would let him do the work, because it was warranted by the body shop who put in the defective part and insurance company. But Luis always gives me excellent service. Once when my car died just driving down the street, he jumped in his service car and met me, crawled under the car there and then, and reattached the fuel line. He is amazing! read more

My car needed the service of a Gold Shield Station so I chose Fernando's. On the day of the repair, I thought I had taken all valuables out of my car but I forgot one thing, a digital camera. The camera was in a cosmetic bag so it was not immediately recognizable as a camera. You guessed it -- I got the car back without the camera. My advice regarding Fernando's is (1) don't take your car there, or (2) if you do, make sure you take every valuable out of the car. read more

I took my car here, and they were very trustworthy and gave me a really good deal. Luis made sure that my car was safe to drive on my road trip. I kept adding on requests and thinking of things for them to do for my car, and they were more than happy to do what I needed. I completely trust this place, and I am very thrilled to find a great mechanic. read more

The most reasonably priced place I've found in ten years. Super friendly, fast, called back right after checking not only my break issue but the entire car and explained very understandable what the options are incl. prices and on top - fixed one of my side mirrors while test driving my car for his investigations just for free :) all work guaranteed of course - I was really stunned by this honest guy Henry and am so happy that I finally found my auto repair shop of trust (I drive here from Oakland). read more

When you're a gal on your own, who doesn't know much about cars, finding a mechanic can be an intimidating/frustrating experience. If you're older and disabled, your car can feel like the last vestige of your independence - when it breaks down and your funds are limited, getting back on the road can be extremely traumatic, even if you have a mechanic you trust. There are many shops who have no qualms about taking advantage of the situation, so when my '96 Nissan started limping along at 15 mph as I tried to drive over the grade from Terra Linda, making very scary popping sounds, I thought, that's it - no more car. My last mechanic had closed shop, but I called an old friend and former boss for advice. He ran a towing/body shop in San Rafael for years, so he knows where go and who to avoid - and that's how I found Fernando's. Everyone I spoke with was very friendly and the owner really put me at ease, despite the fact that I was having a meltdown, lol. This is a busy shop, (which is a really good sign) so I was surprised at how fast they got it done, and I was very happy with the charges - I honestly believe that nobody else would have been able to do the job for less, plus now I have a mechanic I trust - that's worth a lot to someone like me. The best part tho, was driving home with my car sounding as good as it did 5 years ago when I first bought it ;) read more
