Our trusty family swagger wagon was overdue for a timing belt/water pump extravaganza. Jorge and company quoted a fair price and a timeline I could work with. Jorge even offered transportation to my work -an added bonus and one less ride share trip! Top marks to Jorge for treating me with respect. As a female who likes to work on my vehicle and learn some garages are not a good fit. Jorge was a great listener. Make excellent eye contact and answered my questions. Bonus star for the service reminders via email leading up to the service date. This is great for a frazzled mama like me! Shop is clean. Location easy to get to. Great pricing. ***UPDATE--3/2018*** Back to JEV for an oil change. Again easy to schedule, work finishes earlier than promised and a follow up email with all findings from inspection and recommendations. Still 5 stars! read more

J E V Automotive - Auto Repair Near Me - Novato, California

Been bringing cars here since before they moved. Always did good work. Got a quote today for $440 (LABOR ONLY, no materials) to drain and fill oil and differential in a Honda/Acura, which is over double two different quotes I received elsewhere. Quite a shock, even for this area. Unfortunately will be finding a new shop. read more

Hands down the best automotive shop I've had the pleasure of dealing with! The owner, Jorge is knowledgeable, friendly and took the time to address my concerns and answer my questions in full. I don't think I've ever had a more pleasant phone conversation with a repair shop. His prices were very fair and he's a straight shooter. No pressure to make unnecessary repairs and he provides photos of his inspections and findings! Photos were delivered by email with his estimate which provided great peace of mind. Quick service too! Highly recommended . read more

We have been taking our cars to JEV for a few years now, and the service has always been outstanding. It is such a relief to have a mechanic who is reliable and trustworthy. I should have written this review years ago but better late than never. read more

Be careful of Jorge at JEV Automotive. They came highly recommended (as the reviews imply), though i'm not sure how. Jorge quoted me $350 for installation of new brake pads (just labor, i provided pads) for Front & Rear. Our conversation was clear & direct and I was pleased to find their price appropriate for such a simple job. Audi Marin as an FYI quoted $500 for the same work. Upon arriving at JEV, Jorge let me know the job would actually be $700, and that he only quoted me per axle. The ol' Bait & Switch eh Jorge? Pound sand buddy. read more

Jorge was recommended to me by his former shop in San Rafael. He was very easy to work with and remarkably helpful throughout the process. I am very grateful for his assistance. Thank you, Jorge! read more

I met Jorge through a local networking group about 10 years ago, and right away was impressed with his sincerity and forthrightness. He and I also share a passion for Porsches, and although I don't yet own one (a dream of mine since BEFORE I could drive!) as soon as I do, he will definitely be the one to perform its meticulous pre-purchase inspection, and then service it for as long as I own it! I began bringing him my Nissan Armada for routine services, as well as for the mechanical issues that arose on occasion. I always felt so safe knowing Jorge was on the job. Now I have a Toyota Highlander Hybrid, and he recently gave me a price for replacing two of its wheel bearings that was easily 1/3 that of another shop in town!!! WOW!!! Anyway, he also took it in right away and had it back to me within a day and a half. Once again, I feel so much safer now when I'm on the road, and also that I and my vehicle are well cared for. I give my highest recommendation for JEV Automotive!!! read more

I can't say enough about how wonderful JEV Automotive has been in servicing my vehicle over the last 3 + years. Not only are they competent, but honest, friendly, responsive and totally service oriented. My last visit was a surprise visit as my my undercarriage cover came loose and was dragging on the ground as I drove. They fixed it almost immediately and because I have been a long time customer, they didn't charge me for the fix. George the owner has been a pleasure to work with, as with his competent and skilled staff. I highly recommend them and give them 5 stars hands down. read more

Fixed car. Took less than 2 hours. Cost 10% of what the dealer charges. Very responsive to calls, even on the weekend. I am glad I took a chance on them. read more

Great customer service and very clear communication and expectation setting. This is how to run a business! Made an appointment via email, dropped my car off and got the result of the inspection within an hour. Jorge was very professional and did not recommend unnecessary work. Definitely recommend. read more

I went to see Jorge to get a second opinion on an expensive repair job for my car. His quote ended up saving me almost $250. He was as nice as he could be, and the work was done in the timeframe that he promised. I am very please with the experience that I had at JEV Automotive. I expect all future work on my car to be done at this shop. Betty B read more

Brought in a couple cars for routine maintenance and had 0 issues (BMW and Acura). Communication was excellent, and George was a class act. Shop is clean and pricing is reasonable (not cheap, reasonable). I will be happy to keep bringing my cars here and definitely recommend this place. read more

We brought our Audi to Jorge with a major engine problem. After researching several other shops and mechanics and getting lots of advice, we learned that our car needed a new engine and decided to have Jorge do the work. Discovering that your newly purchased used car needs a new engine is pretty much a worst-case-scenario, not mention a huge expense. Jorge was extremely pleasant to work with. He was meticulous and thoughtful every step of the way, including providing a quality estimate and always taking time to explain every last detail to us in a way we could easily understand. He worked hard on our behalf to negotiate a great price on the engine itself and saved us money wherever possible. I also really appreciated being able to communicate with him via phone, text, and email. When it was time to pick up our vehicle, Jorge had us do a test drive and walked us through all of the work he did on the vehicle, making sure we were satisfied before we paid our final bill. The engine was spotless and he even did a little extra work to make sure it was in the best possible condition (and no he didn't charge us extra). To top it off, Jorge sent me a follow up email to make sure everything was going well with the repairs. What mechanic does that? None in my 20 years of car ownership! I don't think you could ask for more from a specialty shop: very knowledgeable mechanic, pleasant customer service, extremely reasonable price. We will be bringing our Audi back in the future for necessary maintenance/service. read more

I have been coming to Jorge for a few years now- for work on my beloved Audi Allroad that I simply refuse to let go... All I can say is that if you own a European car and enjoy overpaying for service- by all means go to the dealer or the swanky Ubershops in south Marin. But if you are looking for good work- from a well trained team, led by Jorge who is a German car master- by all means give Jorge and JEV a try. From regular service to a recent major repair (front end replacement, timing belt, water pump, etc.) Jorge will deliver on time and as promised. Always solid value for money. read more

I brought a 2006 Boxster S in for a pre-purchase inspection. I worked with Jorge and was impressed because he was as into cars as I was. He discussed my concerns about the mechanics and maintenance schedule extensively and helped me make the best decision on whether or not to buy that car. I'm now the proud owner of a Boxster S! Thanks, Jorge! read more

Does good work, creative troubleshooter for some issues with my Beamer. Fair price. Good guy besides. read more

When I got into my 2012 Honda Fit with manual transmission and pressed down on the clutch, I detected resistance that had not been there before. I didn't seem to have any problem shifting, except that it had become awkward, which I attributed to the strange feel of the clutch. After a couple of days driving like this, I took it into the shop I had been using for over two decades. They told me that two of their mechanics test-drove it and found that it shifted more smoothly than their own vehicles; they detected nothing wrong with it. So when, within a day or two of taking it home from the shop, I started having serious difficulty shifting, I wondered if there was some psychological thing going on in my head--until I had a friend drive the car and confirm that a serious problem existed. Having lost confidence in my old shop, I found a new mechanic through Yelp. Turned out that he no longer worked on transmissions, but when I asked him for a recommendation, he sent me to J.E.V. That was a great call. Jorge could immediately tell what was going on, explained it all to me, discussed what was involved and how long he would need the car to repair it properly, did his best to accommodate my schedule, and ultimately provided me with an estimate, which turned out to be the actual price I paid. It's been over a month since the repairs and everything works great. And I have a new mechanic. read more

That Jorge... SO HOT RIGHT NOW! Really tho, I had a sort of emergency oil change situation, he made it all better! He checked my fluids, cleaned my little lucky star up a bit... And away I went. He didn't even come close to overcharging me. He has a great smile too. TRUST, it's hard to find in a mechanic... You can trust Jorge. read more

I've heard a knocking noise for months. Two trips to my mechanic of 20 years, and a trip to one more, and was told they see nothing wrong. Jorge did. Immediately. He ID'd the issue with my strut, fixed it, and took care of all the coverage with my Service Policy provider for me. Full service. Honesty and professional. read more

GO SEE JORGE !! If your searching for a great mechanic, working in a clean and organized shop ... look no further than J.E.V Automotive. Jorge has been wrenching on cars long enough to know how to fix and repair them well. He's honest, approachable and a great listener ... you tell him your auto needs, he does his best to fix them. I brought my Jeep Cherokee in for a common problem that is labor intensive and requires all the right tools, upon finding out he didn't have one tool needed for the job, he promptly went out and purchased it. I will be recommending family, friends and colleagues to Jorge from now on. read more

Very efficient and honest. We've been with the same mechanic for about 15 years and just recently started taking our cars to Jorge at JEV and we couldn't be happier. Wish we had done it sooner. read more

Pricey but, good service. Can't comment on the work, not expert enough. Close to my work and the guy is super nice.

I highly recommend this place. Much cheaper and superior to dealership work. Had a large job done, great attention to detail.

Jorge was recommended to me from a friend as a reliable, honest, skilled mechanic that will take care of your vehicle and at a fair price. Two things I noticed initially about my interaction with Jorge and his shop: 1. The shop is immaculate. It's the cleanest stall I've seen. 2. His communication skills are top notch and he is very professional. I had some work done on my van and when I picked it up, I noticed my wife's car had her check engine light come on. I was able to get it dropped off and returned in SUPERB condition with a good turn around. If you need your vehicle taken care of in Marin, look no further than JEV Auto! read more

I met Jeorge a few years back. My car was having transmission issues but unfortunately Jeorge wasn't the first set of mechanics hands on the car. 2 other locations screwed me over. Jorge helped me with the process of reporting the problems. I had to get a new car and made sure Jeorge and the JEV crew were the ones to work on my cars needs. Jeorge is very responsive, goes above beyond when he has your vehicle. He offers to get you to your destination within Novato if needed. He's accurate about the timeframe you should expect the work to be done and uses a program that walks you though how the inspection/oil change went which is accessible via your phone. I'm very impressed by the interactions I have with JEV when ever I have issues with my car. I highly recommend Jeorge as your lifelong mechanic! He's great at keeping high mileage vehicles running safely! read more

Best service... prompt and accommodating, forthcoming about all process and procedure. Very affordable pricing

Have just visited J.E.V. for the third time. Jorge was attentive and solved my auto problem even though there was an unexpected glitch. My car was ready in 2 hours, and I was so relieved. When I got it the ride was smooth. read more

My Hemi in my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 recently decided it wanted to stop running while I was on the freeway. I had it towed to JEV and asked them to take a look. George took it apart and gave me a very competitive quote to replace the motor because of the damage that had happened, inherent design flaw to motor which causes it to self destruct. I decided to buy another truck instead of replacing the motor. I was given a very fair inspection price and George the owner handled getting my truck towed back to my residence. Even though I decided against repairs this time, I will recommend JEV auto to anyone looking for honest Auto Repair. Thanks JEV! read more

I take my car to Jorge whenever it needs anything. In the 5 years I have lived in this area, I have taken it to a few different places. I just couldn't find any one that had the right combination of honest and friendly. I live very close to JEV so it was a shot in the dark. There are a lot of high end mechanics in this area. They all charge ridiculous prices for the most basic stuff. I would be better off going to the dealership than them. But not at JEV. Jorge is always very honest and easy to get a hold of. He explains things to me like I'm 5 (Which is a good thing!). I bought my tires there and now he gives me free rotations. He even drives me home and picks me up when my car needs work. 5 star service! read more

These guys totally saved me. I bought a car and it didn't pass smog so I brought it in to Jorge. Incredible service and as I'm a student on a tight budget he helped me out on the price. Really great guys in here doing professional work. 10/10 would recommend to everyone I know read more

Great experience! Jorge is honest and upfront about necessary and optional maintenance needs. I know very little about automobiles, but felt comfortable and well taken care of. Jorge also diagnosed the problem with very little insight from myself, and solved it the first time! Car is running great! Thank you. read more

I took my car into J.E.V based on the reviews I read online. My expectations were high and J.E.V. exceeded every expectation. They were welcoming and informative. They didn't make me feel dumb for asking questions (I am not a car guy) and they took the time to explain everything. I definitely left feeling like the pricing was more than fair and the whole time I was made to feel like my car was a priority to them. The shop is very clean which tells me they take pride in their work. I won't take my car anywhere else. read more

I did not know Jorge before going to his garage and would not consider myself a personal friend of his. That being said, I plan on providing a real and honest review of his services. Everyone knows how difficult it is to find a good mechanic. There's a lot of yelp searching and trial and error. I've been living in Marin for 5 years and had no luck finding a good mechanic, until I met Jorge. Although, he's not a good mechanic, Jorge is a great mechanic! My Ford Escape had been making a loud noise when I accelerated for about 2 years. I took my car to the Ford dealership thinking that they would be able to identify what the noise was and fix it. Three times I took my car to the dealership and all three times they said my car was fine. I visited my parents for Xmas and my Dad immediately noticed that my car was making a weird noise. My Mom found Jorge's information through her small business group. Jorge was immediately available and super accommodating. I had to drop my car off early so I could get to work, and he accommodated that. In one afternoon, he was able to diagnosed my car and call me with a quote. His price was much cheaper than the dealership, and he was able to get the part needed and fix my car in one day. When I came to pick up my car, he brought me over to the engine and showed me what he did and the part he replaced and why it was making the noise. He didn't just tell me everything was all fixed, he actually wanted me to understand what I was paying for. I am so impressed with his professionalism and reliability. I have been to a few mechanics in Marin and haven't been overly enthusiastic about my experience. Jorge is SOOO kind and extremely professional. I feel so comfortable taking my car to his shop. I will not take my car anywhere else. If you're looking for a reliable mechanic, please call Jorge. You will not regret it! read more

JEV Automotive is thorough, timely, honest, amiable and efficient. They inspect everything to make certain all is safe and only repair what is truly needed. I appreciate that. Nice guys! They work weekends and I will continue coming here. You can trust them to do what they say they will do in a reasonable amount of time.Give them a try ~ you will be happy you did. Good honest dealings going on here. Appreciate Jorge and his professionalism and competence. Give them a try- we were not disappointed :)

I didn't know it was possible to find such a friendly, honest and reasonably priced mechanic.

BY FAR THE BEST AUTO SERVICE OUT THERE! Jorge, the owner, has been helping me with my complicated car, and he even went out of his way to help me fix my car. He also did some research about the problem and it turns out he helped me save MONEY! BEST SERVICE WITH OUT A DOUBT! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

I spent three weeks searching for a mechanic I could trust and that knew what they were talking about. Jorge not only fixed all of my issues, but also looked into other areas of the car to see if anything else needed to be looked at. He worked through the night to return the car to me on the promised date. I NEVER give mechanics stars because frankly I've been to everyone mechanic here in Novato at one point or another, and quite frankly none of them deserve it. Jorge is fair, friendly, trustworthy, personable, and fast. Really hope to see him succeed. read more

By far the best auto shop I've ever been to. My car broke down on the side of the road & the tow truck took longer than expected. JEV stayed open & waited for me to arrive, then looked at my car first thing the next morning. Jorge even gave me a ride home to Petaluma! They quoted me an extremely great price for fixing my radiator & few other things, but we've decided we didn't want to to sink any more money into our old car and will be selling it. I'm definitely coming to JEV as soon as we get a new car though! They're incredibly honest, fast, & all-around great! I'm recommending them to everyone I know! read more
