Jorge quoted me $350 for installation of new brake pads (just labor, i provided pads) for Front & Rear. Our conversation was clear & direct and I was pleased to find their price appropriate for such a simple job. Audi Marin as an FYI quoted $500 for the same work. I met Jorge through a local networking group about 10 years ago, and right away was impressed with his sincerity and forthrightness. He and I also share a passion for Porsches, and although I don't yet own one (a dream of mine since BEFORE I could drive!) as soon as I do, he will definitely be the one to perform its meticulous pre-purchase inspection, and then service it for as long as I own it! I began bringing him my Nissan Armada for routine services, as well as for the mechanical issues that arose on occasion. I always felt so safe knowing Jorge was on the job. Now I have a Toyota Highlander Hybrid, and he recently gave me a price for replacing two of its wheel bearings that was easily 1/3 that of another shop in town!!! WOW!!! When I got into my 2012 Honda Fit with manual transmission and pressed down on the clutch, I detected resistance that had not been there before. I didn't seem to have any problem shifting, except that it had become awkward, which I attributed to the strange feel of the clutch. After a couple of days driving like this, I took it into the shop I had been using for over two decades. They told me that two of their mechanics test-drove it and found that it shifted more smoothly than their own vehicles; they detected nothing wrong with it. So when, within a day or two of taking it home from the shop, I started having serious difficulty shifting, I wondered if there was some psychological thing going on in my head--until I had a friend drive the car and confirm that a serious problem existed. Having lost confidence in my old shop, I found a new mechanic through Yelp. Turned out that he no longer worked on transmissions, but when I asked him for a recommendation, he sent me to J.E.V. That was a great call. Jorge could immediately tell what was going on, explained it all to me, discussed what was involved and how long he would need the car to repair it properly, did his best to accommodate my schedule, and ultimately provided me with an estimate, which turned out to be the actual price I paid. We brought our Audi to Jorge with a major engine problem. After researching several other shops and mechanics and getting lots of advice, we learned that our car needed a new engine and decided to have Jorge do the work. Discovering that your newly purchased used car needs a new engine is pretty much a worst-case-scenario, not mention a huge expense. Jorge was extremely pleasant to work with. He was meticulous and thoughtful every step of the way, including providing a quality estimate and always taking time to explain every last detail to us in a way we could easily understand. He worked hard on our behalf to negotiate a great price on the engine itself and saved us money wherever possible. I also really appreciated being able to communicate with him via phone, text, and email. When it was time to pick up our vehicle, Jorge had us do a test drive and walked us through all of the work he did on the vehicle, making sure we were satisfied before we paid our final bill. The engine was spotless and he even did a little extra work to make sure it was in the best possible condition (and no he didn't charge us extra). To top it off, Jorge sent me a follow up email to make sure everything was going well with the repairs. What mechanic does that? None in my 20 years of car ownership! I don't think you could ask for more from a specialty shop: very knowledgeable mechanic, pleasant customer service, extremely reasonable price. I met Jeorge a few years back. My car was having transmission issues but unfortunately Jeorge wasn't the first set of mechanics hands on the car. 2 other locations screwed me over. Jorge helped me with the process of reporting the problems. I had to get a new car and made sure Jeorge and the JEV crew were the ones to work on my cars needs. Jeorge is very responsive, goes above beyond when he has your vehicle. He offers to get you to your destination within Novato if needed. He's accurate about the timeframe you should expect the work to be done and uses a program that walks you though how the inspection/oil change went which is accessible via your phone. My Hemi in my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 recently decided it wanted to stop running while I was on the freeway. I had it towed to JEV and asked them to take a look. George took it apart and gave me a very competitive quote to replace the motor because of the damage that had happened, inherent design flaw to motor which causes it to self destruct. I decided to buy another truck instead of replacing the motor. I was given a very fair inspection price and George the owner handled getting my truck towed back to my residence. I take my car to Jorge whenever it needs anything. In the 5 years I have lived in this area, I have taken it to a few different places. I just couldn't find any one that had the right combination of honest and friendly. I live very close to JEV so it was a shot in the dark. There are a lot of high end mechanics in this area. They all charge ridiculous prices for the most basic stuff. I would be better off going to the dealership than them. But not at JEV. Jorge is always very honest and easy to get a hold of. He explains things to me like I'm 5 (Which is a good thing!). I bought my tires there and now he gives me free rotations. I did not know Jorge before going to his garage and would not consider myself a personal friend of his. That being said, I plan on providing a real and honest review of his services. Everyone knows how difficult it is to find a good mechanic. There's a lot of yelp searching and trial and error. I've been living in Marin for 5 years and had no luck finding a good mechanic, until I met Jorge. Although, he's not a good mechanic, Jorge is a great mechanic! My Ford Escape had been making a loud noise when I accelerated for about 2 years. I took my car to the Ford dealership thinking that they would be able to identify what the noise was and fix it. Three times I took my car to the dealership and all three times they said my car was fine. I visited my parents for Xmas and my Dad immediately noticed that my car was making a weird noise. My Mom found Jorge's information through her small business group. Jorge was immediately available and super accommodating. I had to drop my car off early so I could get to work, and he accommodated that. In one afternoon, he was able to diagnosed my car and call me with a quote. His price was much cheaper than the dealership, and he was able to get the part needed and fix my car in one day. When I came to pick up my car, he brought me over to the engine and showed me what he did and the part he replaced and why it was making the noise. He didn't just tell me everything was all fixed, he actually wanted me to understand what I was paying for. I am so impressed with his professionalism and reliability. I have been to a few mechanics in Marin and haven't been overly enthusiastic about my experience. Jorge is SOOO kind and extremely professional. I feel so comfortable taking my car to his shop. By far the best auto shop I've ever been to. My car broke down on the side of the road & the tow truck took longer than expected. JEV stayed open & waited for me to arrive, then looked at my car first thing the next morning. Jorge even gave me a ride home to Petaluma!
