The food here is amazing, and is seasoned perfectly not very spicy. Restaurant look very neat and clean. They serve a lot of food at a great price.

The color scheme and aluminum siding evokes memories of time spent in the Caribbean.

Nice little spot off Powerline in Pompano with a very comfortable vibe and good food if you're pressed for time. I am a big fan of their natural juices: namely soursop and coconut water. Their lunch combos are fairly priced and generous when it comes to serving size- so show up hungry. It's well cooked food and friendly service, always greeted and they remember you from visit to visit which is a nice touch. I'd certainly suggest stopping by for what tastes like a home cooked meal!

It was a very hot day; but the extreme heat wasn't going to stop me from getting lunch today, and I had the taste for some Jamaican food...yea mon! Located in a plaza along Powerline Rd., Fern Gully Grill offers the typical Jamaican cuisine at reasonable prices such as: * Chicken - curry, brown stew, bbq, fried * Jerk - chicken & pork * Oxtail & curry goat * Fish - brown stew & fried * Sides & soups * Vegetarian dishes * Breakfast - ackee, callaloo, saltfish, porridge * Cold beverages & natural juices The restaurant was clean with adequate table seating for customers, and had a colorful decor. I greeted two females that were behind the counter and after overlooking the menu displayed on the wall, I decided to order a medium brown stew chicken which was served with my choice of rice & peas and steamed cabbeage. Within five minutes, one of the females placed the food in a container, graciously added sauce over the rice, and handed it to the other female who took my payment. Now when I'm having Caribbean food I love to have some fried plantains on the side. I found it odd that it wasn't served with the food...this was a first. They sold 3pcs of fried plantains for $1 so I asked for that. Here's my impression of the food as I got home: * Brown stew chicken - was tender and browned in a flavorful sauce * Rice & peas - nicely cooked to a soft consistency. The sauce from the chicken made it taste so much better * Steamed cabbage - had a bit of a crunch to it and was lightly seasoned * Fried plantains - fried nicely and was sweet...just how I like 'em Thoroughly enjoyed the food. I must come back to try other dishes that I usually does order at Jamaican restaurants

Phenomenal lunch spot! This place is the truth, definitely going to be a weekly destination. $7 lunch is an unbelievable deal for the amount of food they give you. Lunch specials also come with a soda or water. If you're in the area and you're craving authentic Jamaican food then this place is a must. Rice and peas were cooked perfectly, cabbage was seasoned right, and jerk chicken was not dry at all. Only regret is that I wish I heard about this place earlier

As always, when out and about I open my Yelp app to find good lunch places. I found this place while in Pompano with one of my employees. They had great options when walking in. I went with my go to brown stew chicken and my employee got the jerk chicken. The portion sizes were HUGE! The brown stew had great flavor. I got a patty and it had great flavor. I would recommend and go back if in the area!

I was DISAPPOINTED. I asked the woman nicely if she can try to avoid getting all of the excess oil in my plate. The woman gave me a ackee soup and I feel like she purposely did it. She just ignored me and pursued to SCRAPE OUT THE OIL AND PUT IT IN MY PLATE! NOPE COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. I was sooooo disappointed I just threw the plate away.

So I left the house intending to get some pollo and being from the islands myself I decided Fern Gully was calling me. I had the lunch special which was brown stew chicken, peas and rice and a cabbage slaw and I cleaned it up :-) . Price was very fair and food was good ... will be back for sure ...

I came here for breakfast, asked for a MEDIUM ackee & saltfish . First off it's 10 something in the morning why would the first thing you offer me is rice .. EWWWW .. Who in the right mind would offer rice and ackee and salt fish for breakfast. I always get offered yam , dumplings , bananas and etc . I told the lady I asked for a medium and she says no it's a large and gave me a bad additude... I specifically told the girl I want a medium. Because I just came from a long delayed flight from Aruba I didn't feel like arguing , so I rather leave a review where it will be read and addressed.

I'm happy I stumbled across this place. The area my job is located is new to me and I've been trying to scout of new places to have lunch . On this particular day I decided to give the closest Jamaican restaurant a try . I came across this place and the reviews seemed fair , so I went ahead. I got the rice and peas with friend chicken. I was very skeptical about it. Once I took the first bite- my mouth watered for more . It was very tasty and gave me a good feeling. It felt like I was eating a home cooked meal. Everything was perfect! The service was great. Would have given it all 5 stars - however the food could have been a little hotter.

Looking for dinner to support our locals and decided to pay a visit to Fern Gulley Grill. Literally at our front door (entrance to our complex). We parked out front and called in our order and was asked Large or Small and to give them 10 minutes. We both enjoy Oxtail Stew with Peas and Rice so our order for two small dinners would be enough...and it was more than enough! When we got home and opened our dinners we could see and smell the savory brown gravy sauce and the lovely oxtail on a bed of peas and rice with a small side salad and some extra gravy with small rolled dumplings. The oxtail was falling off the bones and so tender. The peas were red beans and the rice soaked up the sauce and b lb ended well with the peas. The small dumplings were soft and tasty. We couldn't finish our peas and rice and debates if we should get a Large Dinner next time and share. Would like to see our neighborhood eatery when they are back to full throttle! Friendly staff and service...desserts are also available!

    Curry Goat Callaloo Plantain

For a while I've been wanting some authentic Caribbean food and I've been contemplating where I could grab some from. I decided last night with my mother that we would come here. I'm from out of state so not familiar with the area at all, while driving with our gps on it took us across the roadway which completely confused me. I'm not sure if my gps needs to be updated or what because we got lost and confused. Finally when we headed out to the road we managed to finally find it which was exciting. When you walk inside its this adorable little hole in the wall place. Only two women work inside and the food is severed sort of buffet style behind the counter where they serve you what you want. My mother ordered the oxtail with rice and beans and a side salad. I went all in and got the curry goat with calaloo rice and a side of plantains. We got one of their fresh juices that they sell but just straight mango. Let's continue on about our meals, my mom enjoyed her oxtail a lot and i tried a bit and didnt mind it. For my curry goat keep in mind first time here with this entire dish i would say it was so amazing and so delicious! Ive never had goat before and i can say that its really good and i love how tender and juicy it was. The way it was I assume slow roasted in its juices made the meat fall off the bone which is the best way to enjoy meat. So when i saw they had a rice called calaloo i quickly googled it and was like ok sounds yummy and indeed it was. The plantains were sweet and great but lost shape and kinda burnt on sides but I still could enjoy it. Now the fresh mango juice my mother and I could truthfully care less for it. We are both really big on fresh juice especially any kind of mango juice to be honest with you. We saw that it was for a great price and it was partially frozen before and it just tasted pretty water down and you couldn't taste the mango flavor at all which was completely unfortunate. I must say the pricing for the food is a bit much. When we were checking out to pay my mothers dish went from $19 and change to $22 and the kind girl who served us told us oh we didn't update the prices and keep in mind this is a large size. That is kind of upsetting when you aren't warned ahead of time because then you can kind of adjust to getting something a little bit more affordable say a small plate instead. I got mine in a small size on the pricing wasn't too bad. I really have to thank the wonderful lady who served my mother and I she was very nice and the portion sizes are unbelievable especially when I saw how much food I was getting for a small container was out of this world I can't even complain. I could really care less for the other woman working with her because when my mother and I went to complement how really great the food was and we were very sincere and genuine about it she gave us a fake smirk back so she can fix her attitude. I would definitely recommend this to people who don't know about this place or if you're just on vacation and looking for some yummy ethnic foods to try and enjoy.

First time here and it was recommended by my mom and you get sister. They both kept raving to me how good their food was and how big the portions are and boy was I happy that I stopped by. They only have two sizes, med or large. So I opted for the med size oxtail with rice and peas and a side of coleslaw and boy was I happy that I chose that. It was the most delicious meal I ever had, and I haven't had Jamaican food since I was last in the Bahamas in 2020. It's a 30 min drive from where I live but totally worth it. I also had enough food to take back home and eat for dinner. I also ordered my dad the curried goat with rice and peas as well and got him a side salad and I tried it from him and it was also delicious. I will for sure be coming back here again and trying to jerk chicken! I highly recommend everyone to come here...they have two locations, I happened to visit the one on S. Powerline in Pompano Beach

How the heck you run out of curry goat at 1:20 in the afternoon is just frustrating. The service as well is like a hit or miss.

I love fish and eat it several times a week and so when I find a fish restaurant that serves exceptional seafood I just can't help but offer a high recommendation in this one really is at the top of their game. And I have to say that their lunch prices and portions are an incredible value for such wonderful food. And if the food isn't enough to make, you want to come here over and over again, the welcoming and sincerity of the service will definitely win you over. From the person that greets you at the door to the wait staff to the people that clear the tables every member of the staff makes you feel like you are their most valued guest. I really love this place and we will be back to try more things from the menu. Today I had a tripletail. I am not sure that I've ever seen it in restaurant before having previously only eaten it when I caught it. And that was many years ago. But it is without any doubt, one of my favorite fish to eat. Absolutely delicious and they're simple preparation brought out the flavor even more. I had it with a salad that was so fresh and complemented the fish perfectly. All in all, I love the restaurant and will be back. As I said, I would love to try the other things on the menu, but if Tripletail is on there that day, I am likely to order it again. One thing, especially nice was that we were really here to enjoy the company of family that we'd not seen in a long time. We took up the table for almost 3 hours. They refilled my iced tea regularly and continue to serve us and even with the long time spent there we felt completely welcome. Kudos to them for such amazing service. If you were in the Pompano Beach area and love to eat fish, this is a place you do not want to miss.
