Caribbean Pot on Wheels Jerk Center came as a strong recommendation from a coworker. After a few…read moreweeks, we went there. We watched jerk chicken competitions on YouTube, and one that stood out was when a chef stated, "Yes, I would buy this chicken from a jerk chicken pan man." Never heard of a pan man, so we had to do some quick research. It means they are a street vendor who grills and steams chicken using a repurposed oil drum. Btw, there is a Google review by a Chef Harvey, which we will include at the end. First, the location is classy! You can immediately tell by the VIP section, dj setup, and table layout that it doubles as a nightclub later at night. We had a welcoming greeting, and placed our order. Just so you know, their lunch special ends at 2:30 PM, which already sets them apart from other Caribbean restaurants. We ordered a jerk chicken and a jerk pork dinner. Both came with coleslaw, which is something we don't particularly like unless made exceptionally well. They had the exceptionally well version! Fresh, crisp, and tasty! The rice and peas with oxtail gravy was phenomenal! And both meats were marinated, grilled, steamed, and smoked so well, neither needed the BBQ jerk sauce. The sauce made both taste sweeter, which took away from the delicious, smoky flavor. So we only used some of the sauce so it would not go to waste. Speaking of times, Happy Hour starts at 4PM. We got that info from a very friendly bartender who was getting the bar ready. Our order was ready with no long wait. And it came in a large, sturdy paper bag, which made carrying both orders easy. No contest, they were the best jerk dinners we ever had! Now on to Chef Harvey: Walking into Caribbean Pot On Wheels Jerk Center, the first thing that hits you is the aroma of real smoke rolling off the grill -- and that alone told me this place understood authentic jerk cooking before I even ordered. Too many spots call themselves a "jerk center" but cook everything on flat tops or shortcuts. These guys are actually smoking their meats, and you can taste the difference immediately. I ordered the lunch special -- I think it was either $6.99 or $7.99 -- and honestly, it's one of the best values I've had in South Florida. It came with rice and peas, coleslaw salad, and jerk chicken. From the first bite, you could tell the chicken was marinated properly and cooked with patience. Deep smoky flavor, real island seasoning, juicy inside with that slightly charred exterior that real jerk chicken is supposed to have. It was so flavorful I didn't even want the jerk BBQ sauce. That chicken stood on its own. Easily a 10/10. The rice and peas were solid, the coleslaw was fresh and balanced the spice perfectly, and the whole meal tasted like somebody actually cared about the food. The inside has a nice vibe too -- clean, welcoming, laid back Caribbean energy without trying too hard. After looking at other reviews, a lot of people keep mentioning the same thing: authentic flavor, real smoke, and some of the best jerk in the area. I can see why. This isn't watered-down jerk for tourists. This is the real deal. I'll definitely be back anytime I'm craving authentic jerk chicken. Thank y'all for getting it right.

I decided to come here on my own for a pound of jerk after loving the jerk he brought me. I must say if you drive too fast you will miss this place. It is definitely a small whole in the wall restaurant. It is right before Atlantic on SR7. At first I was very impressed with the taste of their jerk. They sell other Jamaica dishes in their but I never tried them because it didn't appeal to my interest. I don't think that this restaurant should improve on its overall cleanliness. And at one point they had a very big old dusty fan that was blowing inside the tiny restaurant. The very last time I visited here I got my usual the pound of jerk chicken. And I wasn't happy with the taste. The jerk didn't look as good as it use to look and definitely didn't taste the same. I haven't been to this restaurant in a long time and was craving some jerk but I see that they food doesn't taste near the same and has fallen off. I stood in line forever with only two other people ahead of me. There was a lady behind me that was so disgusted with the slowness. Their was this girl ahead of me that was very picky and precise so that took up time. And the lady was moving very slow at that. Then their was a lady that walked up and asked who was next but was looking beyond me like I didn't exist. The lady behind me had to tell her that I was next. She seem as though she didn't want to serve me. I couldn't believe that she asked who was next then she left and started messing with the food in the back and never waited on me. So I end up having to wait on the other lady. Not only their food went down in taste their customer service went down too. So I will not be returning. I've driven past Country Walk Caribbean Take Out more times than I can count, never realizing one of the best Caribbean spots in the area was hiding in plain sight. Today, I finally decided to give it a try. As I saw someone leaving with a takeout bag, I asked if it was his first time eating there. He smiled and said, "No, I eat here all the time." Naturally, I asked what he recommended. Without hesitation, he said, "The oxtails are amazing, and on Wednesdays, you have to get the red pea soup." Say no more. I walked in fully committed to ordering the oxtails because, as a chef, I take Jamaican oxtails seriously. Unfortunately, a fresh batch was still about 30 minutes away. I was ready to wait, but the lady behind the counter suggested I try the curry goat instead. I'm glad I listened. The curry goat was outstanding--rich, flavorful, and unbelievably tender. Every bite was seasoned perfectly, with that slow-cooked depth you only get when it's made with patience and care. The rice and peas were fluffy, well-seasoned, and complemented the curry beautifully. The steamed cabbage with saltfish added another layer of authentic Caribbean flavor, and the sweet plantains were perfectly caramelized, providing just the right balance of sweetness to the meal. What impressed me just as much as the food was the customer service. Everyone was welcoming, friendly, and genuinely wanted to make sure I enjoyed my first visit. That kind of hospitality is becoming harder to find. As a chef, I appreciate restaurants that focus on doing simple things exceptionally well instead of trying to be flashy. Country Walk Caribbean Take Out delivers authentic, homemade Caribbean food with heart, and you can taste the love in every bite. Needless to say, I'll be back for those oxtails--and based on what I've been told, I'll definitely be stopping in on a Wednesday for that famous red pea soup. Rating: (5/5) Sometimes the best restaurants aren't the biggest or the most advertised. They're the small mom-and-pop spots quietly serving incredible food, one plate at a time. Country Walk Caribbean Take Out is exactly that kind of place.

Pleasure Caribbean, the new Haitian restaurant in Riverside Square in Coral Springs, is worth your…read morepatience. And you will need some patience right now. They're clearly understaffed, the kitchen is getting hammered with takeout orders, and service can be uneven. The main server speaks limited English, although the owner's daughter, Sisi, speaks perfectly and does a great job helping non-Creole speakers navigate the menu. But if you can get past those early growing pains, you'll discover one of the most interesting new restaurants to open in Coral Springs this year. Haitian food has long been part of South Florida's culinary landscape, but mostly through takeout counters serving immigrant communities. What makes Pleasure Caribbean notable is that it presents the cuisine in a polished sit-down setting, with an attractively renovated dining room in a suburban shopping plaza -- likely the first restaurant of its kind in Coral Springs, which has a rapidly growing Haitian population. The cuisine itself is deeply savory, assertively seasoned, and unlike anything else in the Caribbean. Mushrooms, herbs, layered spice blends, and slow-cooked flavors dominate the menu, often with a gentle but persistent chile warmth running underneath everything. We started with Pate Kode, a fried turnover superficially similar to an empanada, but with a crust closer to frybread. Ours was stuffed with hard-boiled egg, peppers, onions, and seasoned meat, and absolutely came alive with Pikliz, Haiti's signature vinegary fermented slaw loaded with habanero heat. The Boulette -- Haitian fried meatballs -- were outstanding: fluffy rather than dense, heavily seasoned with herbs and parmesan, served with a light tomato-sofrito (epis) sauce that deserved to be eaten with a spoon. Lalo, the restaurant's stew of jute leaves, corned beef, and crab, may challenge unfamiliar diners visually, but it delivers deep earthy flavor somewhere between spinach, callaloo, and long-cooked greens. The crab functions more as seasoning than centerpiece, enriching the entire dish. And then there are the starches, arguably the soul of the meal. Riz Djon Djon, Haiti's famous black mushroom rice, had remarkable depth and aroma. Even better was the Mayi Moulen ak Pwa -- cornmeal with black beans -- which frankly doesn't look particularly appetizing but becomes strangely addictive after the first few bites: creamy, savory, slightly spicy comfort food. To drink, we had fresh limeade that practically begged for a pour of Barbancourt or Clairin from the liquor store a few doors down. I paired everything with Prestige, the iconic Haitian lager, which is a little hoppier and more flavorful than most Caribbean beers. The biggest surprise, honestly, may be the room itself. Instead of the utilitarian takeout environment most people associate with Haitian restaurants in South Florida, Pleasure Caribbean has turquoise booths, polished wood floors, crystal-style lighting, and a contemporary dining room that feels designed for lingering over a meal. They're still working through service issues, and less adventurous diners may bounce off the rough edges. That would be a mistake. There's real cooking happening here.

They offer numerous variations, with your choice of sauce and protein, making this one of the more mofongo-focused restaurants I've seen in Broward. We started with the shrimp mofongo. The plantain mound itself was moist, flavorful, and nicely seasoned, avoiding the dry, dense texture that plagues lesser versions. Ours came topped with a rich shrimp sauce, but other options included a garlic cream sauce and a Creole-style sauce, both of which looked excellent as they passed through the dining room. Of the dishes we tried, the mofongo was actually my favorite. The masitas de cerdo (fried pork chunks) were flavorful and well-seasoned, although they came out a bit drier than I would have preferred. I'd still order them again, but based on what I saw arriving at nearby tables, the pernil may be the move on a future visit. The rice deserves mention as well. The arroz con gandules was excellent, with plenty of flavor rather than simply serving as a side dish. They also offered moro rice in both red bean and black bean versions, which was nice to see. The Punta Cana cocktail was worth ordering. Sweet, tropical, and considerably stronger than it looked. The dining room is much larger than it appears from outside, but this is very much a casual neighborhood spot. It reminded me of the kind of local restaurant you'd find in Puerto Rico or the Dominican Republic: a large dining room, full bar, TVs on the wall, families gathering for dinner, and the emphasis squarely on the food rather than creating an upscale experience. There's also a stage and DJ setup for live entertainment. One note: service was slow on our Sunday evening visit. After speaking with the manager, I learned she was also the restaurant's only server and that a single cook was handling the kitchen while also keeping up with a steady stream of takeout orders. Given those realities, the pace made more sense. Everyone was friendly, but this isn't the place to visit if you're in a hurry. Both English and Spanish menus are available, although the primary server was clearly more comfortable interacting in Spanish. They also feature Latin music and a DJ on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, which is probably when the room really comes alive. If you're a fan of mofongo, pernil, arroz con gandules, or Dominican comfort food in general, Bohio is worth adding to your list.
