Bar has a hipster feel that attracts both a younger crowd and professional getting off work and looking for a strong beer to end the work day. Events typically throughout the week. We had great visit for a couple of beers and a light dinner. Great beers for $4.50/pint, good fresh food, great acoustic blues playing, and friendly and helpful bartenders. It is amazing that this exists in Tallahassee, especially on the Friday before the Miami-FSU game. Hallelujah! read more

One of the best bars in town with a good crowd. Great knowledgeable bartenders! Beer and wine only...but always at the right temperature. Inside has a 60s kind of feel to it and is very clean. I literally joined Yelp to rate this place. Almost all of your staff is so unprofessional and rude. I went there with my girlfriend a few weeks ago and had a nice time. We had 2 bartenders- a guy with dreds and a girl. I only remember that she was wearing overalls. We had such a good time we decided to come back and bring friends. This last trip was a completely different experience. We had a stoned and/or drunk female bartender who took probably no less than 5 minutes to pour our group beers. She kept having to come back because she couldn't remember what we'd ordered and seriously moved as if we are all going to live forever. The other girl, smaller, was really short with everyone. When we went back for a second drink we had to wait for several minutes to wrap up conversations they were having. It's one thing to engage your customers, but ignoring people at a bar that long is weird. The beer is good and the people and outside seating were nice. It would have been one star otherwise. read more

This is a wonderful bar. Their beer selection changes frequently and they always have a great variety of new beers on tap to try. They also have wine. The staff is always professional, friendly and offer great recommendations. The vintage vibe of the decor is fun! The only drawback is that they only have one bathroom. read more

This is one of the few places I really like in Tally. The bartenders know my name even though I don't go too much. I love everything about it, even though it get can get cramped in there. One of the best craft beer spots in Tallahassee along with Proof. "Ferm" is located on the bottom floor of a small apartment complex on the very small, three block long road of All Saints in a not so well lit neighborhood. Tap list is small...perhaps 10-15 taps at the most with relatively quick rotation. When they originally opened, the tap list had essentially zero Florida beers. Now, thankfully, that has changed as they offer local craft along with occasionally their own creations made on one of the smallest brew systems I've seen. They do offer wine for non-beer drinkers and actually mead. They will do mead flights and beer flights, which is nice if you don't know what to order. Atmosphere during the day is calm and chill. During the evening, it is a quirky young adult hangout. Service somehow improved when it was very busy- extremely easy to get a beer. Not too loud, people playing board games. Cool place no doubt. You can sit out front on the porch and drink during all operating hours. read more

I was extremely unimpressed by the manager (bartender with experience) she ignored our entire table after I sent a beer back that she suggested, which was awful. She then presented us with a cheese platter in which my dad ordered another glass of wine, which she said that she would get it, but that they did not serve people unless they ordered from the bar. (Seriously you had to walk a few feet to us, so why even say that when your tips depend on your service). I then went to the bar for the wine she never brought and another beer. Thank goodness the new bartender who had been there for three days whom was extremely nice and accommodating compared to the other bartender, whom had been there for some time as it appeared. If it had not been for the new bartender I would have called the owner about the complete disrespect that this bartender maybe a manger displayed to my family. We came all the way from north Georgia to a place we had been before and enjoyed. We will not return after this experience. We just left the lounge and I wanted to make sure to post this in hopes that the owner takes care of this issue. I have never made a compliant on yelp until the disrespect that I experienced today. read more

Great little weird nerd bar, retrofitted in to an apartment, with good outside seating, in a new semi-urban neighborhood of Tallahassee. Even if it's busy, you can usually get a seat if you wait around a few minutes. Always an awesome selection of beers from around that world on the rotating menu. Always something unusual and interesting to drink on tap. The clientele are largely a mix of FSU grad students, younger Tallahassee locals, traveling salesmen, professors, the occasional lobbyist, and other ne'er-do-wells, reprobates, and charlatans... good people! Also, they continuously play cartoons from the 20s, 30s and 40s on a movie screen by the (one) bathroom. read more

This place is just awesome.. Enormous beer selection (you will be handed a multi-page beer menu), including MANY Belgian beers. Some are kind of pricey, but the pricey ones are pricey beers by nature which you likely won't find in any other bar closer than Atlanta or Tampa.. The bartenders are very knowledgeable about the beers and they can give you advice about what to try.. They also offer beer tasting flights (5 beer samples for $7), the knowledgeable bartenders will advise you in which order to consume your samples so that the taste of one is not adversely affected by aftertaste from the previous one.. This place has a movie screen which is generally showing some sort of strange thing, they seem to have a policy of not showing sporting events , except for extraordinary occasions like the world cup or the super bowl. Crowd ranges from college students to retirees, a very eclectic, intellectual seeming crowd.. A very friendly, casual sort of place.. It is quite small, so if you are here on weekend evening you may have trouble finding a place to sit.. The combination of the beer selection and the quite unusual ambience would make this place unique in any city, even I think a place like San Francisco.. I went here one time with a group of friends. I hadn't tried many different kinds of beers when I went so I asked the bartender what did he suggest that did have a heavy beer taste and what was popular and his response was, "if you dont like beer then do drink it". I never once said I didn't like beer, I just wanted to know what was popular. I called him a dick and didn't drink anything. The other bartender was polite and asked if he could get me anything, but by that point I was over it. Apparently I was too "preppy" for that grungy- hipster scene. great little hole in the wall, don't be fooled by the location, it really is in a residential area. fantastic beer selection and they rotate out the kegs with a new selection each time it's empty. encourage drinking for a ne flavor. seating is a little tight inside, even on the outside but that's part of the charm. all the patrons were friendly, locals, with all walks of life here. where else can you talk with total strangers on a porch, sit on a railing, have a cigar, and toss a beanbag. next time I am in town I'll be coming back read more

What a great place! A friend took me here while I was visiting Tallahassee and I loved it. Tons or choices for beer, wine, cider, even mead. A truly unique place in Tallahassee and a great place to get gluten free drinks. Only complaint would be that it can get a bit crowded. read more

Good beer selection. Excellent atmosphere. Located in a nice part of Tallahassee. However, did have an issue where a bartender added his/her own tip to my bill after leaving for the night. Went 9/17 ... maybe I was lucky it wasn't crowded ... this is a great place to chill for awhile ... plenty of beers to choose from ... the bartender was very knowledgeable about the selection ... I especially liked the Betty Boop cartoons projected on the wall! read more

The beer selection is probably the best in Tallahassee. The clientele are mostly professionals from FSU or state offices. Service has never been great and has fallen off in the last year. Poor management and not always as clean as it should be. Tallahassee doen't offer much and this bar is nothing special. They fired their best employee. read more

Great people watching - the service sucks... its difficult to get a beer... you have to stand in a magical spot before they help you... they could increase sales if they had more help. Tonight there were 3 bartenders... a pirate that never smiled... another guy that never smiled and a young lady that smiled but was slow at best. read more

i love fermentation. they always have delicious beer and pretty nice wines and there's a heavy enough rotation where most times where i've gone two nights in a row, i'll be pleasantly surprised to find different wine choices and beer offerings. the bartenders are all super chill and somehow it seems that no matter how packed the place is, they will usually be down to talk music, websites and other geekery with you (thanks, tyler and trevor! AND chris and forrest!). prices are always super reasonable. i've only passed by and NOT gone in once -- that's only because it was so absurdly crowded and i had three people in tow. we would have been smooshed together like sardines in a can. if you like to roll solo (as i often do), this is an awesome place to meet and talk to interesting random strangers from all walks of life without things getting awkward. i've talked to people for hours and at the end of the night just been like "welp, nice meeting you!" and they'll retort something similar and then it's good-bye, possibly forever. kinda neat. all in all, i've got no complaints about fermentation. this place is awesome. read more
