Granite and Marble Designs - How the kitchen was left from Tuesday afternoon until Friday when they came back to finish.

I had a really negative experience with Granite Marble Designs. For the too long, didn't read…read morecrowd: Granite Marble Designs did not understand the complexity of installing countertops in my house and charged us an additional $616 to deal with it. While I'll go through the details of they said vs I said, I think what it really comes down to is a difference of opinion on what is the customers' responsibility vs the business' responsibility. Granite Marble Designs was unaware of my kitchen cabinets not being level, even after they sent someone out to laser my kitchen. I also mentioned that my kitchen floors weren't level. Regardless of any fault, the countertop installation was problematic. GM Designs got half way through the install on a Tuesday and came back on Friday to finish the job. In the meantime, half of my kitchen had countertops, everything in my kitchen was in my living room and my kitchen sink was in the driveway. We (the customers) had come up with a plan to build supports in order to level the top of the cabinets to finish the countertop install as GM Designs only offered us the option to stop the job midway and for me to find someone else to level our cabinets. Oscar from GM Designs came to my house and approved of the plan that we (the customers) would have countertop supports pre-cut and ready to be screwed in to the cabinets when the team got there on Friday. We also seem to have a difference of opinion here as Mike (the owner) said the reason that we were charged additional cost for labor was because it was our responsibility to have the supports leveled and installed when the installers arrived on Friday. This was not what was discussed with Oscar. I have no idea how to perfectly level something across the length of an entire room. If I was that good at installing countertops I would not have contracted a countertop company to replace my countertops. I don't have proof of this as I didn't record the conversation I had in person, in my own kitchen. With the other issues, I would not have anticipated that this would be the point of contention. After the job was complete, we were charged $616 more than the initial contract. Speaking with Mike (the business owner), he said that was $250 for an extra day of install and $366 of additional labor for the install. I had to call Mike to get a dollar value breakdown for the $616 extra cost as no one replied to my previous emails asking for a cost breakdown. Here's the difference of opinion: I think it's the company's responsibility to assess the job properly and then deal with it. They (the business) maintains that the job was more difficult and that the extra cost is my responsibility. I wish they would have been transparent about the possibility of variable cost upfront. I can see both sides, but just understand that if the job turns out to be more difficult than Granite Marble Designs initially believes, then the responsibility to pay for that may fall on you (the customer). So in total about who took responsibility for what: GM Designs took responsibility for 1/2 of the extra day and charged a discounted rate of $250 vs their normal $500 second day charge. We (the customers) took responsibility for cutting out the sink plumbing and replacing it as the plumbing no longer reached the sink with the change in height in the countertop (about $150 in cost), we came up with a solution to finish the countertop install and make the cabinet supports, cut and painted new trim for the cabinets to hide the gap between the cabinets and countertop, repainted and reinstalled the floor trim that was removed, and paid the additional $616 (about 17% additional cost) to Granite Marble Designs.

Accommodated a small project with speed and great service. Would come back for larger projects too,…read morewhen the time arises.

What exceptional service and products! We were happy from our first encounter with the designer Ashleigh, Contractor Jamin and Ben Project Manager and the entire construction crew!! Great communication and response time really blew our minds! Plus they were very mindful not to leave dangerous items around because we have a little one. Construction started early February and during the sudden COVID 19 pandemic, the team took special precautions and we were very grateful of their response! We continued with our kitchen remodel and as of mid April our kitchen and family room were complete! We are happy we made the right decision to go with Colorado Homes and Design...they are exceptional!!! Thank you, The Baines Family

We worked with Gina, Jamin, and Jose to renovate our bathroom and completely redesign and renovate…read moreour kitchen. The planning and design process was smooth. Gina was very helpful and patient as we thought through our options and we appreciated the line by line estimates for both materials and labor, which helped us to prioritize what we wanted done and stay within our budget. The project timeline was 8-12 weeks, and we were very close to that 12 week mark. They order all the materials ahead of time, so there aren't holdups waiting on some small item to arrive. We did move out during construction and the only communication was via a group text thread, which was frustrating at times. We had to ask certain questions multiple times and there was some miscommunication throughout. In the end, the results were amazing. Our kitchen and bathroom both look great, and we are very happy with the results! We have had to reach out about a few small fixes, and most of those things have already been sorted out. We definitely recommend working with CHD!
