Summary: Rick's charged me $450 to fix the wrong part that didn't solve the problem with my washing machine, and they won't return my calls to discuss refunding the cost of their mistake. Details: I called Rick's to diagnose an extremely loud washing machine. I shared my strong suspicion that I had bad bearings, which for my washer would mean it's not worth repairing due to the cost of the repair. After evaluating the machine, the repair guy said it wasn't bad bearings, but said it'd take $350 to disassemble the whole washer to check for another part he thought was bad. Given he was the expert, I agreed to the repair. The part he needed to replace was another $100. He made the repair, took my money, and left. The next time we ran a full load in the machine, nothing had changed with the noise level. The same repair guy came back out a few days later to evaluate the problem, and within 40 minutes he had come and gone from my house (i.e. without needing to disassemble the entire machine this time), and in that time confirmed that it was in fact the bearings that were bad as I initially suspected. He apologized and said I'd have to talk to the people at the office to work out the refund. I've called the shop four times since that day. The first time I reached Alex and she promised a call-back within 20 minutes. After that, they've not answered any of my subsequent calls, which makes it pretty obvious they're avoiding the issue. I can't warn you strongly enough not to do business with this shop. I still cannot believe they're not even willing to call me back to discuss the results of their work and discuss some sort of compromise that both parties can live with. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. The only issue was my washing machine wouldn't turn on. The repair man came by and did some stuff on the machine then realized the outlet was bad. We tried using the washer for the first time and now it's leaking from the bottom. I'm sure we now have damage to our floors as the water has leaked through down to the basement. They won't return our calls. I've left voicemails and multiple messages. I wouldn't trust this company ever. Shady owners. Shady business. read more

I'll start by saying I would have rather given 3.5 stars. The technician came on time and was courteous and professional. He diagnosed the problem quickly and have me a quote that sounded a bit high based on other site unseen quotes I had gotten. When I asked about this he said that is what they needed to do the job. It was just under the threshold of being worth paying the $50 diagnosis fee and getting someone else to do the work. I asked for an itemized receipt when the technician was leaving which they gave me. The labor charge was $145 for 40 minutes of work which seems excessive even if they charge for an hour minimum. The cost of the part they replaced seemed much more reasonable. Again, they did a perfectly good job, but the price was just high enough to be pretty annoying. It wasn't crazy, but it wasn't a good deal by any stretch of the imagination. read more

At best incompetent, at worst charlatans. I had them service a fridge and the technician was sure it was the compressor. The thing worked for two weeks and quit. I had them back out to take their busted compressor and leave my house. The tech spent another five hours to reach the conclusion that it was the condenser. So basically they just throw parts at the problem. A blind monkey with a hammer would be more effective. I later learned the compressor was supposed to be under manufacturers warranty, which they conveniently failed to mention and would not refund. Also, their shtick about the $85 service call charge being waived if they do the work is BS. They just tacked it onto the final bill. Absolute rubbish of a company. Avoid. read more

We went through Yelp to find a service because out freezer fan was making a weird whining sound. Rick's Appliances responded right away and I was able to make an appointment with them pretty quickly. When Chuck came out he talked us through possible problems with the fan. He then offered to perform the least expensive solution first, which was taking the fan apart, cleaning it and then oiling it. Now it works like a charm. He then gave us some good advice to keep our fridge running great. There was a $60 deposit for him to come out and then the total repair was just $110. (The deposit fee was rolled into the price of the repair.) Chuck was knowledgeable, professional, laid back and just really nice. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Rick's Appliances to everyone and we'll definitely be using their services again! read more

Our refrigerator went out Friday. My husband called one of the "Big" company and was given an appointment a week later. On top of that ,they were trying to sell him another option of a "service contract"! Upon looking into Yelp, we sent Rick's Appliances a quote request and so glad we did. Charles replied that afternoon and agreed to come the next day, Saturday for very reasonable trip charge. He came Saturday, figured out what's wrong with our fridge, then came back Monday morning and installed the new part. Everything is back to working order by Monday afternoon! Thank you Charles. Chuck came to fix our fridge almost immediately. Knew right away what was wrong and took him only 30 minutes to fix. I didn't mind paying a little more because it was well worth it. Not looking forward to needing them anytime soon, but if I do, we will definitely call them again. read more

Woke up one morning and the top half our refrigerator wasn't getting cold anymore. Found Rick's and they were able to come out on short notice. They showed up on time and quickly diagnosed the issue. In about 45 minutes, they defrosted the freezer and replaced the defrost thermostat, and everything has been good since. A bit more expensive than I was expecting, but reasonable. read more

Responded next day to request for quote for Samsung electric dryer repair: $60 for visit and diagnosis, which is waived if you select them to do the repair. Came out within 2 days and total was $185 for major repair (replacing tensioner pulley) including parts. Very happy with their work. Highly recommend. read more

I got played by this outfit. I knew exactly what needed to be fixed - an igniter for our gas oven had stopped working and needed to be replaced. When I called to make an appointment, I asked for a firm price, knowing my diagnosis was correct, and was told $150 for everything - parts, labor, trip fee (waived, supposedly). I went ahead and scheduled an appointment but, lo and behold, a couple of days later, an hour before the tech was supposed to arrive, here comes another call saying "I made a mistake on the cost, it's $245, not $150." I thought it over, and since I needed the oven fixed, I capitulated and agreed to the service. The tech got the job done in maybe 20 minutes. Simple Simon. The part sells for $30-$40 on Amazon, so my timidness in doing this myself cost me more $200. I feel silly and, yes, ripped off by Rick's Appliances. Beware! read more

I called and made an appointment on Monday; The soonest appt was for Thursday 11-1pm. I was called back on Wednesday evening at 3:30pm saying I was out of their service area. I called Rick's to come clean up a mess that was left behind by another local appliance repair company, who shall remain nameless. Immediately after a very difficult experience with the other company, our dryer was making new loud grinding noises whenever it ran. Rick's technicians came out promptly to evaluate, and they were able to repair the problem right on the spot. They charged a very reasonable price for the job. We had a great experience with Rick's Appliance! Our washing machine broke down on a Friday night and we didn't know if we'd be able to get it fixed over the weekend. Rick's to the rescue! I called them first thing Saturday morning and was shocked to hear that they could get a technician out to our house within the hour! Charles arrived in about 30 minutes and knew exactly what was wrong and had everything he needed to fix it. He was so polite, nice and honest!
