You'd get a text message reminder a day before the tour and they would ask if you have food restrictions or allergies. You'd also get a reminder where the meeting spot is. We met at Banco Popular, introduced ourselves and went our merry way to the 5 different food spots. Pablo ordered the food before hand so that when the group arrived at the different restaurants/places, the food was ready and we did not have to wait that long. Our first stop was Cafe Cuatro Sombras where we had coffee and croissant ham/provolone cheese/guava butter. I liked this croissant with a hint of tanginess/sweetness from the guava. Noncoffee drinkers had options of lemonade and tea. Second stop was Señor Paleta. There's no indoor seating here so we had the delicious parcha (passion fruit) popsicle. Yum! Very refreshing, great for this warm weather! Third stop was Cafe El Punto. This place has a lot of artwork by local artists. We had ceviche de pescado and alcapurrias de la casa which were nice. Fourth stop was El Patio de Sam where we "made" our own mofongo. We had fried plantains and garlic butter, mashed them in a mortar and pestle, and added the chicken before turning the mortar upside down to get the mofongo. This was flavorful and had more moisture compared to another mofongo we had. Last stop for dessert was Vaca Brava. We had flan which was nice. We enjoyed the food, the tour, and the conversations. Great experience here.

I've bought them at the grocery store for my mother over the years when I couldn't find Menier. I was hoping to see some unique desserts at Chocobar Cortés. Let's just say that the chocobar at this location was not what I was expecting. It's like an express version of their original one in Old San Juan. This is located in the lobby of the Condado Palm Hotel. There are 2 entrances. Don't make the same mistake we did by trying to access at street level. That door is locked. You'll need to enter through the hotel lobby. The service is very slow here. There was only one other person there. We ordered a box of 6 chocolates and payed for it. I'm guessing he was making a drink for the other guest because he asked us to wait a few minutes. It ended up being longer so he told his colleague (who just came back from a break) to make up the chocolate box for us. Unfortunately, it took even longer as this other guy was more interested in the 2 young girls who just walked in. The chocolate bonbons were good, but nothing unique. It's the same artisan chocolates that you see everywhere for the same high price. Perhaps this location is better for their specialty cocktails in the evening time. I was looking forward to trying the choco-latte at some point. I doubt there will be a next time.

Fast forward and we had a Welcome Reception for our destination wedding at Juana La Loca. Not only did George and his team exceed all of OUR expectations, several groups of our guests were so impressed by the food/drinks that they went back to the restaurant while in PR. I could go on and on about the food, the service, and the beauty of the restaurants but sometimes it's the little things that make a huge difference. For example, when I couldn't get a sign for the party made and shipped in time--George made it happen. Or when our guests wanted to turn the reception into karaoke--George/his team made it happen. I'm pretty sure George even greeted each of our guests himself. All in all, George and the Juana La Loca team exceeded all of our expectations!
