    The unappealing chicken
    Constance W.

Hey Sunapeers! Constance here with a yelp that might not bring a smile to your face, but an honest one. Me and my grand nephew went here after a long day on the lake, and he was super excited to indulge in some tenders and fries! He loves the honey mustard, proclaiming "Mustard!!!!". We walked in to the delightful deli, with our high expectations, and our empty stomachs! Many years prior, my husband had eaten here on a business trip. He was the director of janitorial operations and studies at Sunapee Middle High School, so he has ties to this community. We got the tenders, the blt wrap, and a cold tea. It was $37 dollars! With that kind of bill, I'd expect a boat load of food! When we received our meals, one came on a blue plate while the other sat in a cardboard cage. I opened the box, and there sat a few chicken scraps and soggy fries. The BLT wrap was cold, but appetizing. My nephew was quietly distraught and felt upset. I don't think we will be returning, and I felt a cold stare from the child behind the register. The natural lighting was great, and the environment of the establishment was peachy. 2 stars!

Staff is really friendly and helpful. I ordered the Reuben. the corned beef was freshly cut, could have used a bit more Thousand Island. I wasn't expecting that I needed to place an additional order for fires. We walked over the tables across the street to enjoy the lake while we ate. I would gladly go back the next time I am in the area.

A hand written note on my take out bag! Thank you Fenton's Landing for your delicious food and friendly staff!

Breakfast was delicious. The homemade waffle is really delicious. My youngest brother had the stuffed French Toast.

    Great!!

Really great place. Has everything! Food is very good. Service is good but can be a long wait as it's very popular so plan ahead.

Oh. My. God. What a wonderful place!…read more Took a day off from skiing due to that four letter word "r*in" and I realized I needed some culinary therapy. So wondering about of the Yelpsphere, I came up to this wonderful eatery that has been opened now for a year and I spent know it existed. So I decided to go in. I'm glad I did The Bend at Sugar River is a deli, coffee house, sandwich place, and upscale to-go food item shop. It does a brisk business but it doesn't seems to be full. There is an expansive and charming patio outside that is puppy friendly. Inside, the seating is more or less sparse but still charming. The menu is extensive. Soups, salads, breakfast items, and both hot and cold sandwiches. I had their French Dip sandwich. Delicious. As well, my oat latte was super! They also have refrigerated stands with both full meals to go, frozen foods and cheeses and salads. Service is awesome. Really so. The storekeeper told me about the place and their growth plans. It is amazing. Overall superb.

Such a beautiful place to sit next to the Sugar River with friends or by yourself. I am not proud to say this, but I incredibly picky when it comes to coffee. Over the past two years I've been blessed enough to have traveled all over the world; Portugal, Spain, Italy, France, Australia, New Zealand, Greece. The list goes on and on. Yet, the best cappuccinos I've tasted are at the Bend. I find myself finding reasons to go to Sunapee, so I can stop at The Bend. The food is delicious and made with care & pride. Silas and all the employees are very welcoming! They truly make you feel special, almost a feeling of being home. The smiles, laughter and exceptional service is unique. The Bend is a hidden gem!

At lunchtime, the parking lot is like a beehive with cars and trucks of people working in the area pulling in and back out with freshly made sandwiches, salads (not green salads, but the kind made with real mayonnaise), and those huge dill pickles that used to stand around in barrels at old time delis. There are individual servings of desserts in a refrigerator, a smattering of fresh produce, fresh breads, snacks, beverages (including beer and wine, and there is even a tiny wine alcove), ice cream, birthday candles and other things you might need once in a while but can't seem to lay your hands on. In the mornings, there are house-made breakfast sandwiches in a warmer so people can grab and go. The people work hard and are kind and friendly. We stopped in on Memorial Day - along with everyone else in the area - to pick up potato salad, seafood salad, and macaroni salad, and they were prepared! It was all hands on deck at the deli, shelves were stocked, and there were extra checkout clerks. Whether it's at the unofficial kickoff to summer or on snowy day, the fine folks at Rum Brook Market are there to make your day just that much more satisfying.

Cleaner and more efficient. Particularly, their beer selections now include many local microbrews. Best of all, they replaced all the gasoline tanks that were old. Customer in front of me asked the lady about it and she moved the mask below her nose. She looked like she was going to spit in the sandwich as soon as the customer wasn't looking. I was in there to order 5 sandwiches for a family lunch, but decided for our health not to and instead just bought a couple of bottles of water. Jake's lost around $50 on us that day for everything we would have bought for lunches (sandwiches, chips, dessert, etc.) Today I returned. Two customers walking around not wearing masks. I asked the nice cashier about it and she confided it's wisest for her not to comment on masks given some people who come would not take it well--and I knew precisely what she meant. Some pretty motley looking folks seem to frequent Jake's. A red-faced swaggery customer behind me--not wearing a mask--overheard me ask about masks in the store, and he starting taunting me for the type of mask I was wearing. I decided I didn't want to be anywhere near someone like that, or be in that store, so I left. Other than this clear problem with masks and sometimes quite seedy looking people working in the store (not the female cashiers who are nice and seem pretty normal) and sometimes pretty creepy looking folks hanging around the parking lot, Jake's has really good coffee, an interesting and wide variety of foods, and their homemade sandwiches tend to be delicious. You can also get Vermont made ice cream and home-baked dog biscuits, and other assorted things. When I got back to my parents' house I mentioned what happened. My brother said he'd never go to Jake's for that reason and my Dad said their friends don't go there anymore due to lack of masks (they're older).
