She put a dirty towel that was on the dirty floor on my back and neck. I felt so grossed out. I was so shocked when this happened because I never thought it would be this dirty in a salon in Bellevue area. I thought I picked a good, reputable salon for hair color. She showed many unprofessional behaviors. The hair color result was not what I expected and I have been getting hair color at different salons for 20 years. (I changed hair stylist whenever I moved to near area in WA state. I often try to find a new hair stylist close to home or my work place.) I am not new to this process (hair coloring) at all. Normally I go to Aveda salon in other area and they were able to dye my hair from original black hair with grey hairs to lighter color in one visit without highlights. I told Mindy that I wanted the root to match the color that I had before. She said that she could do that but the color came out very dark, almost black. I could dye the hair myself dark color easily at home. The price for this was 200 dollars. -- Mindy argued that she had to dye my hair dark color to cover grey hair. My regular hair dresser at Aveda was able to turn my hair into beautiful lighter color and cover grey hair beautifully. -- I will have to go to my regular Aveda salon soon to get highlights to correct the color. -- Mindy was very talkative. She got frustrated at me because she said I moved my head a lot so I was trying to relax and not talk a lot to avoid moving my head. I didn't want to upset her. She showed that she was frustrated. However, Mindy kept asking questions unrelated to hair such as "Do you have a boyfriend?" and etc while she was washing my hair. She accidentally spit on my face a few times. She expected me to keep answering her questions even during the time she was washing my hair after she was frustrated that I moved my head, the experience was so uncomfortable for me. When I relaxed and didn't respond to answer her questions quickly, she said loudly so other customers and staff can heat that I must be frustrated with her. It was the weirdest experience I ever had at a hair salon. In 20 years that I have been getting hair color at salon, this is the first time, a hair stylist doesn't let me relax. I overheard she asked a male customer next to me about his romantic relationship and she told him to propose even when he said he wasn't ready. I don't know-- I just felt so uncomfortable with all these unprofessional behaviors. -- Her dog was very cute in the salon but that was about it. I will NEVER go back. Mindy kept blaming me for weird things. For example, after the coloring process was done, I asked her for a solution to help remove the color on my skin, it was not a big deal for me. I saw she used that solution to help remove color on my face but missed some spots. I know the color will come off when I take a shower. But Mindy started blaming me and told me that hair color on my skin was one of the marks I had on my face before hair coloring process. I don't have any abnormal mark on my face prior to this. Mindy also blamed that the towel she put on my back and neck fell off because I moved. (The towel was very dirty from the beginning. I am not even sure if it had been used with others before me.) I had to use a restroom to urinate since she left the hair color on me longer that it was supposed to be because she accepted other male customers who walked in for hair cut and perm. -- Mindy then deflected and started blaming me for scheduling an appointment with her, she said that she was kind enough to let me schedule an appointment on the same day. Then she had to take other walk-in customers and kept the color chemical compound on my hair longer than it was supposed to be?! It doesn't make sense at all. She was blaming me for supporting her small business. This is why this will be the one and only time I will do business with this salon. When I called her, it seemed like she didn't have any customer so she asked me to come in right away on Tues around noon. Then when other customers showed up, she was trying to get as many customers as possible and left the hair color on me longer than normal. Then she deflected and said she had been doing this for a long time. She knew hair. She said if I experienced hair loss, she would pay 500 dollars. SAD-- I don't want 500 dollars. I just wanted to have my hair color in a normal peaceful way. If you care about cleanliness and want a professional setting in hair salon, this might not be a place that you enjoy. I have been going to salons since I was in my early 20's because I have grey hair since I was young. Now I am almost 40. I never had issue with moving and causing a towel to fall from my neck. I arrived 5 min late (I took wrong exit and had to drive extra 4 miles!). I texted my ETA en route. Charlie's response: you have 10 am appointment? I think he forgot. When I arrived he had someone in the chair. I waited 30 minutes exactly. While waiting another person with an appointment for Charlie walked in. Then Charlie took 4 breaks to text very extended messages and took a call. I asked him how long the service would take, and he said 2.5 hours - he was done in under 2 hours. So I then had to sit and wait since my husband was picking me up. The color, toner, and hair wash were great, but the haircut was a little different. First he used a fine toothed comb and yanked my hair from root to end ripping out knots caused by his hair dryer technique. When I asked him to be more gentle and not rip my hair, he said it was due to hair damage and that I should use a mask (I've used a keratin treatment for softening hair 3x this week). He used a men's hair trimmer to cut my hair all the way around! Pretty different. I'm used to scissors. It does look pretty good, so I may try again. Just very different from what I'm used to.

I do pretty subtle highlights and also hair coloring to just add dimension. i was more concerned with a hair cut this time because i wanted it shorter to start the new year and wanted to grow my bangs out. i'll do a recap of the situation: - I showed up a little early and she told me she was running late. that was 15 minutes late to be exact. - i felt uncomfortable filling out the inital form because it asks alot of info about you i.e where you work and where you live. -when i first met her i disclosed to her how i usually liked my hair and asked for her opinion on what kind of hair cut i should get. she told me she doesnt do that and that i should look online for some haircuts i want first and she'll cut it for me. she concentrated more on the highlights than i did and when she showed me a highlight color i was kind of ok with it. -actual highlighting- she was really agressive on applying my foils. she'd push my head down and slather the mix on my foil. there was a point where the foil almost cut my eye but she didn't notice. when she got near the top of my head I asked her if i left my hair down if the roots would show. she said it would i told her i didn't want that. and she said "well if you didnt want that why did you want highlihgts. do you know what highlights is" she could have easily just stopped. but she told me that she could correct it by addign ANOTHER color for and ADDITIONAL $30. i was already irritated by this and said sure whatever then she says to me "Why id your face so serious you look better if you smile" well it was serious because of you. It all went downhill after that. she went into the more "careful": mode and tried to talk to me to lighten the mood up but i was already too upset. she got too probing and made really cheeky comments that put me off more. including stating that i'm really spoiled becuase i was the youngest in my family and that i must be super super smart. she also kept on reitterating how lucky i was to get an appt with her becuase shes so busy. she missed 30 calls and her phone was blowing up with texts for appts but she was ignoring them to spend time with me... but i was on her appt so wouldnt it make sense to get her undivided attention? i didn't get it. then she kept on sayign its the holidays and she didnt want to stress me out. she ended up butchering my bangs. my hair is ok length. i have to curl it every day if i want to put it down. since i've had my hair cut my hair has been up 90% of the time to let it grow out more. my friends were surprised i tipped her. i'm slightly surprised given how unhappy i was. i wasted 3 hours nearly to have shorter hair, messed up bangs, and hair that was slightly copper brown compared to what it was before. i will have to dye it again once it grows out so that the roots dont show terribly. it wasn't an amazing trip by any means. i'll go back to my place in seattle and never cheat on my hairdresser again.

However, it is significantly more expensive now - from $30 or $35 to $60 now for a women's haircut. The service doesn't particularly stand out for being great or bad, just average. Perhaps it's different if you speak fluent Korean due to the language barrier. The one thing that was odd to me though is that they ask you to tip. I paid with a credit card and was asked to fill out the tip line by the receptionist. I had a haircut with the owner so I usually don't tip when the owner is doing the service.

It was quite the process (8+ hours)! I sent Thao some photos of what I was looking for (honestly I didn't quite know myself what I wanted) and she collaborated with me every step of the way from recommending shampoo/conditioner and a curling iron. Also I would like to mention when he was placing bleach at the top of my hair he pulled my neck all the way back and I was so uncomfortable, and he clearly could tell I was uncomfortable and did nothing. I have been nice and asked for a refund and explained what is wrong with my hair but I get no response. I hope you learn from this, and don't treat another client like this again because this so completely unprofessional. Before you start doing a different style than what your client showed you, show your client what you are talking about and ask if they want this instead. When your client has an issue with something that you have done, try not to blame them like you did me. I will never be returning and I will not be recommending people to you.
