Machina is sensational. The direction, the cast, the mise en scene---nothing short of remarkable. Thanks FPCT for putting this on?

You would think that they would be better organized considering the noble cause and long standing tradition. The picture shows what the organizer was doing at 12:25 (festival was supposed to open at Noon). I do not mind being late when I am not hungry, but running late is a bad business in a hot 90F day in front of lot of hungry people. There are no national stands or specific cuisine. You have a proud Colombian from Medellin selling "Colombian sausages" under the Cuban flag. Everybody was selling everything which is OK but not impressive to me. Two stages had different music so you feel like a Buridan's donkey if you are placed precisely midway between two stages. There was no tent for hungry people to enjoy their food in nice shade. Parking is hard and there is entrance charge of $10 per person. I am sure that the atmosphere is better at night although the food is not cheap. I was happy to support the Latino cause and I enjoyed very much the Patterson park that featured 1892 Historic pagoda http://monumentcity.net/2011/06/06/the-pagoda-at-patterson-park-baltimore-md/ and nice park landscape.

I hope in the future they can offer a discount if you plan on attending both days. Sunday seemed to be a better day since I noticed there was some more vendors then Saturday. Unfortunately I felt the vendors that sold shirts were overpriced. Food was a bit pricy too but I was hungry and it was delicious so I just dealt with it. I liked how the Puerto Rican vendors had their food lined up and displayed, as for other vendors you could see the food but its presentation lacked. I liked how the beverage areas also offered non-alcoholic drinks and it wasn't just geared for the 21 and up selection like most events I see pop up. The acts on stage were good and I enjoyed seeing the singers and dancers with their beautiful and colorful clothing. I would suggest they try to get more vendors next year, Peruvian, Argentinian, Bolivian, etc to participate.

Recently finished Mike Harris' Intro to Improv 101 course (7 week course)- it was a blast. Had fun and learned a lot. As a student you get to go to all BIG's shows for free which is nice, good learning opportunity. They have various types of improv shows every Thurs-Sat nights, been to several and enjoyed them. Highly recommend taking a course or seeing a show. Am now in Michael Furr's standup comedy class which has been amazing so far. Aesthetics wise, it's no luxury theatre (they rely on donations and grants to stay operating, so this is understandable!) but it gets the job done and is homey. Convenient location near a few local bars. Parking Tip: If attending an evening show, get there early if you want to find easy street parking right out front (cheap, pay via kiosk or Parkmobile app). There's a parking garage across the street that's $5 if you tell them you're there for the theatre.

This club is amazingly cool, at least for those who may view cool through a pair of 3-D glasses. Their clubhouse is a reader's delight, stocked floor to ceiling with books and manga. It used to be a movie theater, and they have occasional movie nights making it a perfect meeting spot for Dr. Who fans, anime enthusiasts and geeks of every stripe. And now that pop culture is mainstream, that includes just about everybody. Once a year BSFS hosts Balticon, the Baltimore Science Fiction and Fantasy convention, a precursor of today's mega-comicons. They bring together readers and writers, artists and vendors, cosplayers and fans of every stripe and it is a truly amazing scene. BSFS is also a tax-free charity, working with several literary organizations to provide books to underprivileged children among other things, so teenagers who need to fulfill their community service requirements can do so by volunteering at a science fiction convention.
