He suggested we wait in the hall until the previews were almost over since he explained that he could only turn down the volume so far. The young man taking the tickets did tell us that he would lower the volume of the previews, and he did his best. We went in when there was only about 3 minutes left of the previews before showtime. The volume was tolerable. We really enjoy coming to the Fallston theater since we drive all the way from Towson to do so. The price is so reasonable, especially on Tuesday when they offer the $7.00 ticket special all day for everyone and the seats are reclining and heated. You can order tickets online and reserve your seat ahead of time. Today, we came to see You, Me and Tuscany. It was a delightful movie with a great story line, good casting, and fabulous Italian scenery. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the movies!

The workers are nice and are open to any questions. Popcorn itself was delicious. There is a counter to pour butter on your popcorn. A drink machine, napkins, lids, straws are all there. Before heading into the theater, there's a seating area with tables if you want to sit for a bit. To the left, there is a bar but I haven't tried that part yet ! I highly recommend this theatre to not only kids but adults. The recliners in the theater are comfy. Tip: bring a blanket to enhance the experience

With this close-in seating you can see EVERYTHING. The acting explodes in your face, basically. My friend and I saw "The Hairy Ape," and, as a Eugene O'Neill fanatic I was set to love it, and was not disappointed. The acting was superb. The production was excellent, particularly because there is so little space and time to change/adjust the stage without being disruptive. The lead of the play was really spectacular and wish I could remember his name. (I looked it up -- Michael Leicht.) During the intermission attendees can mingle in the lobby or outside under the lights (and stars). It's really quite magical. As much as I love Everyman's Theatre, and there should be no comparison - they are very different, I find Spotlighters the ONE place I would most recommend.

The theater itself is small and set up in the "round theater" tradition: Seats circle the entire stage. This means, you are no more than 3 seats back from the action, making for a very intimate theater experience. For some this may be intense, but I found myself really engrossed in the play, and feeling more a part of it than an audience member (don't worry, you don't actually participate). This is a community theater, so I had set my expectations really low. However, the energy and thought that went into this production was anything but amateur. I left really wanting to seek out more of these types of places - and I'm in luck, Baltimore appears to be filled with them. File this place under "something different to do on a Saturday night, that'll make you feel good about living in Baltimore"

We've also been able to attend their David Lynch celebration Wonderful and Strange: A David Lynch Appreciation Festival which was one of the most interesting and lovingly crafted events related to Lynch or any director that I have ever experienced. Bottle Episodes was another great monthly event they ran which featured their awesome group of performers acting out television shows, I only hope one day they'll return as seeing shows like Unsolved Mysteries and GI Joe get acted out this way was extremely fun. The theater isn't huge but does have a clean bathroom and excellent setup for visual effects via projection. There is a lot of passion that goes into the playwriting, acting and musical performances at the Mercury Theater and it's a venue that helps define art in Baltimore.

Each attraction had a posted snippet, describing each. The night was cold, plenty of vendors, people and police. You're always hearing about crime in the city. There were some buildings lit up and trees lined with lights, but where were all the main attractions and interactive displays? With so many people and the event so spread out, I felt it was hard to really find anything. The displays we did see (after waiting in long lines) were underwhelming. Mini light city was a cool idea, but on the night we went, it started closer to 6pm (rather than 5pm). I think the highlight of the evening was Impulse (sit on one end of the seesaw to see lights and hear some sounds as you go up and down) and The Pool (hope on circular platforms as they change color). If you start on the wrong end, you'll miss the nightly parade. The festival did offer a variety of food and beverage stands throughout, which was a nice touch. If you aren't already spending the day in Baltimore, I wouldn't make a trip specifically for this festival. If you do go, make sure you check out the schedule and map before hand to maximize your experience. Be prepared for massive crowds!

The staff and the actors are amazingly wonderful, talented people who come out and chat with you after the show and are just all around fun people! And they are in a super trendy area so you can always find something to eat before or after the show and that is always a bonus!!

I got invited by a friend to come see her daughter in the Black Nativity. I was super excited and…read moreinvited other friends to join me. This play was good community theater. The songs got me right into the Christmas spirit and gave me that old time black church gospel vibe. The first half was dedicated to the nativity that we're all familiar with. The Arena Players had their own special twist on the story, but the end result was the same" unto us a child is born. Jesus Christ, Savior of the world. The 2nd half takes you to church with testimonies followed by some good ole gospel music. They had you singing along, clapping your hands, and tapping your feet. They took us to church. The only reason they're not getting 5 stars is because the audio was none existent. No one was one had a mic on, and had I not been sitting in the front row it would have been extremely hard to hear them. It's a real shame because their voices were beautiful. My friends who have seen other production agreed with me, but said the plays they've seen there that they did have mics on. Perhaps they had some technical difficulties. I hope they fix that before their next production in January. They also have a Youth Theater program for ages 4.5 to 18. Foreign Cinema is this little hole-in-the-wall movie and DVD shop tucked away in the middle of…read moreSecurity Square Mall, across from the food court. The Love of My Life and I were curious about this place, as we love movies, so we stopped in for a look. It turns out that Foreign Cinema sells - get this - Japanese anime and "karate" movies and merchandise. And I mean the type that used to be run on Channel 54 on Saturday afternoons during the 1980s: MST3K-type films that people turned the sound down and made up their own dialogue. It was so incredibly cheesy that it was funny. The sales associate actually kind of laughed with us and readily admitted that the shop carried quite a bit of that type of thing; she was a highlight of the visit. (Her bright Manic Panic pink hair, six hundred piercings, and "Southpole" glittery outfit kind of accentuated the strangeness, I have to say.) The boyfriend is actually into Japanese animation and Asian-style films, so he spent a bit more time in here than I might have. Still, they do carry quite a bit of product if you're into this sort of thing. No, it's not pirated or copied DVDs - it looks like pretty authentic stuff (mainly because most of the titles and box covers aren't in English). If this is your "thing", you'll enjoy this place. Just try not to laugh when you see the cheesy movie on the flatscreens -usually, if these movies follow the standard plot, it's the old Asian guy who offered the advice to the young guy in the first place, but it's the young one that gets his butt kicked. And the old guy just sits on the sideline and laughs uproariously. Good times!
