Cozy atmosphere, thoughtful, delicious food, and friendly helpful staff. Blown away at the quality of their bread which is made on site. Particularly their baguette which had an almost sourdough quality, crisp exterior with a light interior. I don't get it...a place that opens at 8AM, and the entire staff, except for the guy with blonde hair and glasses, are rude, inattentive, and downright surly. You can walk in, on any given day, with no one ahead of you in line, and you will stand there, waiting, waiting, waiting, while the rest of the staff slams things around, completely ignoring you. They're still rubbing sleep dirt out of their eyes, and adjusting the clothes they probably slept in, while acting completely clueless, and befuddled. You will not be greeted, no one will say, "I'll be with you in a moment," or anything remotely resembling any kind of customer service. The crown jewel of the operation is the slightly heavy woman with the dirty blondish hair and (sometimes) glasses, who has no skills whatsoever, and no people skills. If you dig a little deeper into Fellow's reviews, you will see a common thread connecting all of the bad reviews. And it's her, the front woman of the operation... Added to that, imagine the lousiest music one could imagine playing that early in the morning, and you've had the complete "Fellow" experience. It doesn't matter how good the coffee or breakfast items are, you end up feeling assaulted somehow. And you get to pay for it! Shame on Scribner's, and the "Escape Hospitality Group", a bunch of hosers from Brooklyn, who could care less about this town, this community, or its values and expectations. They're only interested in bringing their tragic vision of NYC to Hunter. They own Fellow, and apparently don't even care to read their own reviews, but that doesn't surprise me, given how they run that place...steer clear, you can find many better, more hospitable places to spend your $$$ than Fellow... read more

Great food selection for breakfast and lunch. Beautiful, bright country interior located on Main Street a minute or two drive from the Hunter entrance. Welcoming feeling. Forgot to buy coffee for our Abnb stay, but thankfully Fellow Cafe was only a 10 min walk away! So I guess it was for the best since their coffee and food were delicious! We tried their vanilla hot latte (soo good!) as well as their oat late. For food we went with the Make-Your-Own-Egg Sandwiches and the Breakfast Plate which comes with scrambled eggs and choice of two sides. We also got the Cinnamon Roll and the Lemon-Blueberry Muffin which were really good! We all enjoyed everything we got and would definitely go back! read more

I am really hesitant to write reviews for less than 4 stars, especially post pandemic (or recovery from pandemic). For the record- they take their covid precautions seriously and I appreciate that safety remains a priority. Everyone wore masks and the establishment was very clean. The style is similar to that of its owner, Scribners, with the same issues. A lot of style but customer service isn't their top priority. Food is very expensive- we have a home here in Hunter but live in NYC and the prices are the same at Fellow and a hipster NYC cafe. Coffee is great, but the food is sorely overpriced and nothing to brag about. I've been there for lunch and breakfast, and the staff either seem perturbed to deal with you or will ignore you all together (except the blonde curly haired man behind the counter- he seemed friendly). Example- weeks ago I was here with my baby and struggling to manage the baby and the high chair. Fellow was empty, but that didn't stop all 4 staff from watching me struggle to put the high chair back and wrangle the little one. I'm not crying over this, but it would've just been a little nice for anyone there to show a little compassion and I dunno... take the high chair from me? I'm willing to give this place another try but maybe in a few weeks. read more

If you're looking for the cutest, coziest cafe in the Hudson valley, look no further. The building is beautiful and the trim work on the ceilings and walls are phenomenal. The wood burning stove cranks the coziness to the max. The egg sandwiches are excellent, they bake their own bread and give you many options from brioche to sourdough. The coffee menu is basic but the coffee quality is excellent. I got the cinnamon maple latte and an espresso shot on the side. Both were great. They use Peaks coffee from Syracuse which is a great quality roast. Another side note, the cups have a very cool design and are very high quality, small detail but it makes a difference! read more

Visited twice over our stay to the area. Although very busy on the Saturday we went, everyone was kind and working through the line of people with ease. The cinnamon bun, oatmeal, cold brew coffee and Wi-Fi were all excellent. Bonus points for table on wrap around porch we could have our large dog join us for treats. read more

Whenever I go traveling I'm always worried that I won't be able to find somewhere to eat, as I have many dietary restrictions and preferences (NO dairy, minimal animal products and can't be too processed or heavy), and this place met all my needs and more! There are snacks, merch, vegan/vegetarian options, healthy food and overall just really yummy food! I got an iced oatmilk chai and it was SO GOOD (just remember to stir before drinking lol). The location is good, it is crowded inside. But the cashier girl was rude. We ordered some pastries. She served customers who were behind us first. She gave us the pastries in to-go boxes. I told her we are sitting inside, but she did not even listen. Everyone sitting inside were served bakeries in proper plates with silverware. We came in on Sunday morning (10/16) and the cashier never once looked me in the eyes, even when I asked her questions about the menu. She didn't smile, say hello or say thank you for coming. She was completely monotone and unfriendly. I have worked at restaurants and I understand being busy, but usually a basic requirement for staff is to be cordial/kind. Wow, stopped here on a whim because there was a flag out front indicating they had gelato- and boy was it worth it! It's not every day you see a Gelato sign in the middle of the Catskills- it was SO Good! Tried the mint chocolate chip and the pistachio- really authentic stuff! Made on premises. Definitely dangerous though because they are a little too close for me to be nearby! Try it - you won't regret it! We've come up to Hunter a couple of times now and Fellow is always a staple!! The food and drinks are beyond awesome, and fresh. With everything often being so busy, in the past it has been hard to connect with the staff and it's easy to be brushed off as a visiting tourist (which we are and understand). Regardless the food is just so good. This time though we had a lovely server Kailey, she recommended her favorites, and had some awesome personality that made us feel a bit more welcome than usual.
